Zechariah In the eighth month , in the second year of Darius , came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah , the son of Berechiah , the son of Iddo the prophet , saying ,

1 H8066 In the eighth H2320 month H8147 , in the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H1697 , came the word H3068 of the LORD H2148 unto Zechariah H1121 , the son H1296 of Berechiah H1121 , the son H5714 of Iddo H5030 the prophet H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H3068 The LORD H7110 hath been sore H7107 displeased [H8804] H1 with your fathers.

3 H559 Therefore say [H8804] H559 thou unto them, Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H7725 ; Turn [H8798] H5002 ye unto me, saith [H8803] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H7725 , and I will turn [H8799] H559 unto you, saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts.

4 H1 Be ye not as your fathers H7223 , unto whom the former H5030 prophets H7121 have cried [H8804] H559 , saying [H8800] H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H7725 ; Turn [H8798] H7451 ye now from your evil H1870 ways H7451 , and from your evil H4611 doings H8085 : but they did not hear [H8804] H7181 , nor hearken [H8689] H5002 unto me, saith [H8803] H3068 the LORD.

5 H1 Your fathers H5030 , where are they? and the prophets H2421 , do they live [H8799] H5769 for ever?

6 H1697 But my words H2706 and my statutes H6680 , which I commanded [H8765] H5650 my servants H5030 the prophets H5381 , did they not take hold [H8689] H1 of your fathers H7725 ? and they returned [H8799] H559 and said [H8799] H3068 , Like as the LORD H6635 of hosts H2161 thought [H8804] H6213 to do [H8800] H1870 unto us, according to our ways H4611 , and according to our doings H6213 , so hath he dealt [H8804] with us.

7 H702 Upon the four H6242 and twentieth H3117 day H6249 of the eleventh H6240 H2320 month H2320 , which is the month H7627 Sebat H8147 , in the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H1697 , came the word H3068 of the LORD H2148 unto Zechariah H1121 , the son H1296 of Berechiah H1121 , the son H5714 of Iddo H5030 the prophet H559 , saying [H8800] ,

8 H7200 I saw [H8804] H3915 by night H376 , and behold a man H7392 riding [H8802] H122 upon a red H5483 horse H5975 , and he stood [H8802] H1918 among the myrtle trees H4699 that were in the bottom H310 ; and behind H122 him were there red H5483 horses H8320 , speckled H3836 , and white.

9 H559 Then said [H8799] H113 I, O my lord H4397 , what are these? And the angel H1696 that talked [H8802] H559 with me said [H8799] H7200 unto me, I will shew [H8686] thee what these be .

10 H376 And the man H5975 that stood [H8802] H1918 among the myrtle trees H6030 answered [H8799] H559 and said [H8799] H3068 , These are they whom the LORD H7971 hath sent [H8804] H1980 to walk [H8692] H776 to and fro through the earth.

11 H6030 And they answered [H8799] H4397 the angel H3068 of the LORD H5975 that stood [H8802] H1918 among the myrtle trees H559 , and said [H8799] H1980 , We have walked to and fro [H8694] H776 through the earth H776 , and, behold, all the earth H3427 sitteth still [H8802] H8252 , and is at rest [H8802] .

12 H4397 Then the angel H3068 of the LORD H6030 answered [H8799] H559 and said [H8799] H3068 , O LORD H6635 of hosts H7355 , how long wilt thou not have mercy [H8762] H3389 on Jerusalem H5892 and on the cities H3063 of Judah H2194 , against which thou hast had indignation [H8804] H7657 these threescore and ten H8141 years?

13 H3068 And the LORD H6030 answered [H8799] H4397 the angel H1696 that talked [H8802] H2896 with me with good H1697 words H5150 and comfortable H1697 words.

14 H4397 So the angel H1696 that communed [H8802] H559 with me said [H8799] H7121 unto me, Cry [H8798] H559 thou, saying [H8800] H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H7065 ; I am jealous [H8765] H3389 for Jerusalem H6726 and for Zion H1419 with a great H7068 jealousy.

15 H1419 And I am very H7110 sore H7107 displeased [H8804] H1471 with the heathen H7600 that are at ease H4592 : for I was but a little H7107 displeased [H8802] H5826 , and they helped [H8804] H7451 forward the affliction.

16 H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H7725 ; I am returned [H8804] H3389 to Jerusalem H7356 with mercies H1004 : my house H1129 shall be built [H8735] H5002 in it, saith [H8803] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H6957 , and a line [H8675] H6961 H5186 shall be stretched forth [H8735] H3389 upon Jerusalem.

17 H7121 Cry [H8798] H559 yet, saying [H8800] H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H5892 ; My cities H2896 through prosperity H6327 shall yet be spread abroad [H8799] H3068 ; and the LORD H5162 shall yet comfort [H8765] H6726 Zion H977 , and shall yet choose [H8804] H3389 Jerusalem.

18 H5375 Then lifted I up [H8799] H5869 mine eyes H7200 , and saw [H8799] H702 , and behold four H7161 horns.

19 H559 And I said [H8799] H4397 unto the angel H1696 that talked [H8802] H559 with me, What be these? And he answered [H8799] H7161 me, These are the horns H2219 which have scattered [H8765] H3063 Judah H3478 , Israel H3389 , and Jerusalem.

20 H3068 And the LORD H7200 shewed [H8686] H702 me four H2796 carpenters.

21 H559 Then said [H8799] H935 I, What come [H8802] H6213 these to do [H8800] H559 ? And he spake [H8799] H559 , saying [H8800] H7161 , These are the horns H2219 which have scattered [H8765] H3063 Judah H6310 , so that H376 no man H5375 did lift up [H8804] H7218 his head H935 : but these are come [H8799] H2729 to fray [H8687] H3034 them, to cast out [H8763] H7161 the horns H1471 of the Gentiles H5375 , which lifted up [H8802] H7161 their horn H776 over the land H3063 of Judah H2219 to scatter [H8763] it.
