1 Kings 21 And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, close to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

1 H310 And it came to pass after H1697 these things, H5022 that Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H3754 had a vineyard, H3157 which was in Jezreel, H681 close to H1964 the palace H256 of Ahab H4428 king H8111 of Samaria.

2 H256 And Ahab H1696 [H8762] spoke H5022 to Naboth, H559 [H8800] saying, H5414 [H8798] Give H3754 me thy vineyard, H1588 that I may have it for a garden H3419 of herbs, H7138 because it is near H681 to H1004 my house: H5414 [H8799] and I will give H2896 thee for it a better H3754 vineyard H2896 than it; or, if it seemeth good H5869 to thee, H5414 [H8799] I will give H4242 thee the worth H3701 of it in money.

3 H5022 And Naboth H559 [H8799] said H256 to Ahab, H3068 The LORD H2486 forbid H5414 [H8800] it me, that I should give H5159 the inheritance H1 of my fathers to thee.

4 H256 And Ahab H935 [H8799] came H1004 into his house H5620 sad H2198 and displeased H1697 because of the word H5022 which Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H1696 [H8765] had spoken H559 [H8799] to him: for he had said, H5414 [H8799] I will not give H5159 thee the inheritance H1 of my fathers. H7901 [H8799] And he laid himself down H4296 upon his bed, H5437 [H8686] and turned away H6440 his face, H398 [H8804] and would eat H3899 no food.

5 H348 But Jezebel H802 his wife H935 [H8799] came H1696 [H8762] to him, and said H7307 to him, Why is thy spirit H5620 so sad, H398 [H8802] that thou eatest H3899 no food?

6 H1696 [H8762] And he said H1696 [H8762] to her, Because I spoke H5022 to Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite, H559 [H8799] and said H5414 [H8798] to him, Give H3754 me thy vineyard H3701 for money; H2655 or else, if it pleaseth H5414 [H8799] thee, I will give H3754 thee another vineyard H559 [H8799] for it: and he answered, H5414 [H8799] I will not give H3754 thee my vineyard.

7 H348 And Jezebel H802 his wife H559 [H8799] said H6213 [H8799] to him, Dost thou now govern H4410 the kingdom H3478 of Israel? H6965 [H8798] arise, H398 [H8798] and eat H3899 food, H3820 and let thine heart H3190 [H8799] be merry: H5414 [H8799] I will give H3754 thee the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite.

8 H3789 [H8799] So she wrote H5612 letters H256 in Ahab's H8034 name, H2856 [H8799] and sealed H2368 them with his seal, H7971 [H8799] and sent H5612 the letters H2205 to the elders H2715 and to the nobles H5892 that were in his city, H3427 [H8802] dwelling H5022 with Naboth.

9 H3789 [H8799] And she wrote H5612 in the letters, H559 [H8800] saying, H7121 [H8798] Call H6685 a fast, H3427 [H8685] and set H5022 Naboth H7218 on high H5971 among the people:

10 H3427 [H8685] And set H8147 two H582 men, H1100 worthless H1121 men, H5749 [H8686] before him, to bear witness H559 [H8800] against him, saying, H1288 [H8765] Thou didst blaspheme H430 God H4428 and the king. H3318 [H8689] And then carry him out, H5619 [H8798] and stone H4191 [H8799] him, that he may die.

11 H582 And the men H5892 of his city, H2205 even the elders H2715 and the nobles H3427 [H8802] who were the inhabitants H5892 in his city, H6213 [H8799] did H348 as Jezebel H7971 [H8804] had sent H3789 [H8803] to them, and as it was written H5612 in the letters H7971 [H8804] which she had sent to them.

12 H7121 [H8804] They called H6685 a fast, H3427 [H8689] and set H5022 Naboth H7218 on high H5971 among the people.

13 H935 [H8799] And there came H8147 in two H582 men, H1100 worthless H1121 men, H3427 [H8799] and sat H1100 before him: and the worthless H582 men H5749 [H8686] witnessed H5022 against him, even against Naboth, H5971 in the presence of the people, H559 [H8800] saying, H5022 Naboth H1288 [H8765] blasphemed H430 God H4428 and the king. H3318 [H8686] Then they carried him forth H2351 out H5892 of the city, H5619 [H8799] and stoned H68 him with stones, H4191 [H8799] that he died.

14 H7971 [H8799] Then they sent H348 to Jezebel, H559 [H8800] saying, H5022 Naboth H5619 [H8795] is stoned, H4191 [H8799] and is dead.

15 H348 And it came to pass, when Jezebel H8085 [H8800] heard H5022 that Naboth H5619 [H8795] was stoned, H4191 [H8799] and was dead, H348 that Jezebel H559 [H8799] said H256 to Ahab, H6965 [H8798] Arise, H3423 [H8798] take possession H3754 of the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite, H3985 [H8765] which he refused H5414 [H8800] to give H3701 thee for money: H5022 for Naboth H2416 is not alive, H4191 [H8804] but dead.

16 H256 And it came to pass, when Ahab H8085 [H8800] heard H5022 that Naboth H4191 [H8804] was dead, H256 that Ahab H6965 [H8799] arose H3381 [H8800] to go down H3754 to the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite, H3423 [H8800] to take possession of it.

17 H1697 And the word H3068 of the LORD H452 came to Elijah H8664 the Tishbite, H559 [H8800] saying,

18 H6965 [H8798] Arise, H3381 [H8798] go down H7125 [H8800] to meet H256 Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H8111 who is in Samaria: H3754 behold, he is in the vineyard H5022 of Naboth, H3381 [H8804] where he is gone down H3423 [H8800] to possess it.

19 H1696 [H8765] And thou shalt speak H559 [H8800] to him, saying, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H7523 [H8804] Hast thou killed, H3423 [H8804] and also taken possession? H1696 [H8765] And thou shalt speak H559 [H8800] to him, saying, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H4725 In the place H3611 where dogs H3952 [H8804] licked H1818 the blood H5022 of Naboth H3611 shall dogs H3952 [H8799] lick H1818 thy blood, even thine.

20 H256 And Ahab H559 [H8799] said H452 to Elijah, H4672 [H8804] Hast thou found H341 [H8802] me, O my enemy? H559 [H8799] And he answered, H4672 [H8804] I have found H4376 [H8692] thee: because thou hast sold H6213 [H8800] thyself to work H7451 evil H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD.

21 H935 [H8688] Behold, I will bring H7451 evil H1197 [H8765] upon thee, and will take away H310 thy posterity, H3772 [H8689] and will cut off H256 from Ahab H8366 H7023 [H8688] the males, H6113 [H8803] and him that is shut up H5800 [H8803] and left H3478 in Israel,

22 H5414 [H8804] And will make H1004 thy house H1004 like the house H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat, H1004 and like the house H1201 of Baasha H1121 the son H281 of Ahijah, H3708 for the vexation H3707 [H8689] with which thou hast provoked me to anger, H3478 and made Israel H2398 [H8686] to sin.

23 H348 And of Jezebel H1696 [H8765] also spoke H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying, H3611 The dogs H398 [H8799] shall eat H348 Jezebel H2426 by the wall H3157 of Jezreel.

24 H4191 [H8801] Him that dieth H256 of Ahab H5892 in the city H3611 the dogs H398 [H8799] shall eat; H4191 [H8801] and him that dieth H7704 in the field H5775 shall the fowls H8064 of the heaven H398 [H8799] eat.

25 H256 But there was none like Ahab, H4376 [H8694] who sold H6213 [H8800] himself to work H7451 evil H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD, H348 whom Jezebel H802 his wife H5496 [H8689] stirred up.

26 H3966 And he did very H8581 [H8686] abominably H3212 H310 [H8800] in following H1544 idols, H6213 [H8804] according to all things as did H567 the Amorites, H3068 whom the LORD H3423 [H8689] cast out H6440 at the face of H1121 the sons H3478 of Israel.

27 H256 And it came to pass, when Ahab H8085 [H8800] heard H1697 those words, H7167 [H8799] that he tore H899 his clothes, H7760 [H8799] and put H8242 sackcloth H1320 upon his flesh, H6684 [H8799] and fasted, H7901 [H8799] and lay H8242 in sackcloth, H1980 [H8762] and went H328 softly.

28 H1697 And the word H3068 of the LORD H452 came to Elijah H8664 the Tishbite, H559 [H8800] saying,

29 H7200 [H8804] Seest H256 thou how Ahab H3665 [H8738] humbleth H6440 himself at the face of H3282 me? because H3665 [H8738] he humbleth H6440 himself at the face of H935 [H8686] me, I will not bring H7451 the evil H3117 in his days: H1121 but in his son's H3117 days H935 [H8686] will I bring H7451 the evil H1004 upon his house.
