Wycliffe(i) 1 God formede man of erthe; and aftir his ymage he made man. 2 And eft he turnede man in to that ymage; and aftir hym silf he clothide hym with vertu. 3 He yaf to hym the noumbre of daies, and tyme; and he yaf to him power of tho thingis that ben on erthe. 4 He settide the drede of man on al fleisch, and he was lord of beestis and fliynge briddis. 5 He formyde of man an help lijk hym; he yaf to hem councel, and tunge, and iyen, and eeris, and herte to thenke out; and he fillide hem with techyng of vndurstondyng. 6 He made to hem the kunnyng of spirit, he fillide the herte of hem with wit; and he schewide to hem yuels and goodis. 7 He settide the iye of hem on the hertes of hem, to schewe to hem the grete thingis of hise werkis, 8 that thei preise togidere the name of halewyng; and to haue glorie in hise meruels, that thei telle out the grete thingis of hise werkis. 9 He addide to hem techyng; and he enheritide hem with the lawe of lijf. 10 He ordeynyde an euerlastynge testament with hem; and he schewide to hem hise riytfulnesse, and domes. 11 And the iye of hem siy the grete thingis of his onour, and the eeris of hem herden the onour of vois; and he seide to hem, Take heede to you fro al wickid thing. 12 And he comaundide to hem, to ech man of his neiybore. 13 The weies of hem ben euere bifore hym; tho ben not hid fro hise iyen. 14 On ech folk he made souereyn a gouernour; 15 and Israel was maad the opyn part of God. 16 And alle the werkis of hem ben as the sunne in the siyt of God; and hise iyen biholden with out ceessyng in the weies of hem. 17 Testamentis weren not hid fro the wickidnesse of hem; and alle the wickydnessis of hem weren in the siyt of God. 18 The almes of a man is as a bagge with hym, and it schal kepe the grace of a man as the appil of the iye; 19 and afterward man schal rise ayen, and it schal yelde to hem a yelding, to ech man in to the heed of hem; and schal turne in to the lower partis of erthe. 20 Forsothe it yaf to men repentinge the weie of riytfulnesse, and confermede men failynge to suffre, and ordeynede to hem the part of treuthe. 21 Turne thou to the Lord, and forsake thi synnes; 22 preye thou bifore the face of the Lord, and make thou lesse hirtingis. 23 Turne thou ayen to the Lord, and turne thou awei fro thin vnriytfulnesse, and hate thou greetli cursyng. 24 And knowe thou the riytfulnessis, and domes of God; and stonde thou in the part of good purpos, and of preier of the hiyeste God. 25 Go thou in to the partis of the hooli world, with men lyuynge, and yyuynge knouleching to God. 26 Dwelle thou not in the errour of wickid men. Knouleche thou bifore deth; knouleching perischith fro a deed man, as no thing. 27 Lyuynge thou schalt knouleche, lyuynge and hool thou schalt knowleche, and schalt herie God; and thou schalt haue glorie in the merciful doyngis of hym. 28 The merci of God is ful greet, and his help to hem that conuerten to hym. 29 For whi not alle thingis moun be in men; for whi the sone of man is not vndeedli, and malices plesiden in to vanyte. 30 What is clerere than the sunne? and this schal faile; ethir what is worse than that, that fleisch and blood thouyte out? and of this he schal be repreued. 31 He biholdith the vertu of hiynesse of heuene; and alle men ben erthe and aische.
Geneva(i) 1 The Lorde hath created man of the earth, and turned him vnto it againe. 2 He gaue him the number of dayes & certaine times, and gaue him power of the thinges that are vpon earth. 3 Hee clothed them with strength, as they had neede, and made them according to his image. 4 He made all flesh to feare him, so that he had the dominion ouer the beastes, and foules. 5 He created out of him an helper like vnto him selfe, and gaue them discretion and tongue, and eyes, eares, and an heart to vnderstande, and sixtly he gaue them a spirit, and seuenthly hee gaue them speach to declare his workes, 6 And hee filled them with knowledge of vnderstanding, and shewed them good and euill. 7 He set his eye vpon their hearts, declaring vnto them his noble workes, 8 And gaue them occasion to reioyce perpetually in his miracles, that they should prudently declare his works, and that the elect should prayse his holy Name together. 9 Besides this, he gaue them knowledge, & gaue the the Law of life for an heritage, that they might nowe knowe that they were mortall. 10 He made an euerlasting couenant with the, and shewed them his iudgements. 11 Their eyes sawe the maiestie of his glory, and their eares heard his glorious voyce. 12 And he said vnto them, Beware of al vnrighteous things. He gaue euery man also a commandement concerning his neighbour. 13 Their wayes are euer before him, and are not hid from his eyes. 14 Euery man from his youth is giuen to euill, and their stonie hearts can not become flesh. 15 Hee appoynted a ruler vpon euery people, when he deuided the nations of the whole earth. 16 And he did chuse Israel, as a peculiar people to himselfe, whom he nourisheth with discipline as his first borne, and giueth him most louing light, and doeth not forsake him. 17 All their workes are as the sunne before him, and his eyes are continually vpon their wayes. 18 None of their vnrighteousnesse is hid from him, but all their sinnes are before the Lord. 19 And as he is merciful, & knoweth his worke, hee doeth not leaue them nor forsake them, but spareth them. 20 The almes of a man, is as a thing sealed vp before him, & he keepeth the good deeds of man as the apple of the eye, and giueth repentance to their sonnes, and daughters. 21 At the last shal he arise, and reward them, and shall repay their reward vpon their heads. 22 But vnto them that will repent, he giueth them grace to returne, and exhorteth such as faile, with patience, and sendeth them the portion of the veritie. 23 Returne then vnto the Lorde, and forsake thy sinnes: make thy praier before his face, and take away the offence. 24 Turne againe vnto the most High: for he wil bring thee from darkenesse to wholesome light: forsake thine vnrighteousnesse, and hate greatly all abomination. 25 Knowe the righteousnesse and iudgements of God: stande in ye portio that is set forth for thee, and in the prayer of the most high God, and goe in the parts of the holy worlde with such as be liuing and confesse God. 26 Who can prayse the most High in the hell, as doe all they that liue and confesse him? 27 Abide not thou in the errour of the vngodly, but prayse the Lorde before death. 28 Thankefulnesse perisheth from the dead, as though he were not: but the liuing, and he that is sounde of heart, prayseth the Lord, and reioyceth in his mercy. 29 How great is the louing kindnes of the Lord our God, and his compassion vnto such as turne vnto him in holines! 30 For all things can not be in men, because the sonne of man is not immortal, and they take pleasure in the vanitie of wickednesse. 31 What is more cleare then the sunne? yet shall it faile. 32 So flesh and blood that thinketh euill, shall be reproued. 33 He seeth the power of the high heauen, and all men are but earth and ashes.
Bishops(i) 1 God shaped man of the earth, & made him after his owne image, and turned him vnto earth againe, and cloathed him with his owne strength. 2 He gaue him the number of dayes and certaine time, yea and gaue him power of the thinges that are vpon earth. 3 He made all fleshe to stand in awe of him, so that he had the dominion of all beastes and foules. 4 He made out of him an helper lyke vnto him selfe, & gaue them discretion and tongue, eyes, and eares, and a heart to vnderstande: 5 He gaue them a spirite and a speache to declare his workes, & filled them with instruction and vnderstanding. 6 He created for them also the knowledge of the spirite, filled their heartes with vnderstanding, and shewed them good and euill. 7 He set his eye vpon their heartes, declaring vnto them his great and noble workes: 8 That they should prayse his holy name together, reioyce of his wonders, and be telling of his noble actes. 9 Beside this, he gaue them instruction, and the lawe of life for an heritage, that they might now know that they were mortall. 10 He made an euerlasting couenaunt with them, and shewed them his righteousnesse and iudgementes. 11 They sawe the maiestie of his glorie with their eyes, and their eares heard the maiestie of his voyce, and he saide vnto them: beware of all vnrighteous thinges. 12 He gaue euery man also a comaundement concerning his neighbour. 13 Their wayes are euer before him, and are not hid from his eyes. 14 Euery man from his youth is geuen to euill, and their stony heartes can not become fleshe. 15 He hath set a ruler vpon euery people, but Israel is the Lordes portion: 16 Whom he nourisheth with discipline as his first borne, and geueth him most louing light, and doth not forsake him. 17 All their workes are as the sunne, in the sight of God, & his eyes are alway looking vpon their wayes. 18 All their vnrighteousnesses are manifest vnto him, and al their wickednesses are open in his sight. 19 And as he is mercifull and knoweth his worke, he doth not leaue them nor forsake them, but spareth them. 20 The mercie that a man sheweth is as a seale with him, and the grace that is geuen to man preserueth him as the apple of an eye, and geueth repentaunce to their sonnes and daughters. 21 At the last shall he awake, and reward euery man vpon his head, & shall turne them together into the neathermost partes of the earth. 22 But vnto them that wyll repent he hath geuen the way of righteousnesse: As for such as be weake, he comforteth them, suffereth them, and sendeth them the portion of the veritie. 23 O turne then vnto the Lorde, forsake thy sinnes, make thy prayer before the Lorde, do the lesse offence. 24 Turne againe vnto the Lorde, for he wyll bring thee from darkenesse vnto holsome light, forsake thyne vnrighteousnesse, be an vtter enemie to abhomination, 25 Learne to know the righteousnesse and iudgementes of God, stand in the portion that is set foorth for thee, and in the prayer of the most hye God. 26 Go in the portion of the holy worlde with such as be lyuing, & geue thankes vnto God. 27 Who wil prayse the Lorde in the hel? abide not thou in ye errour of the vngodlie, but geue him thankes before death. 28 As for the dead, thankfulnes perisheth from him as nothing: Geue thou thankes in thy lyfe, yea whyle thou art lyuing and whole shalt thou geue thankes, and prayse God, and reioyce in his mercie. 29 O how great is the louing kindnesse of the Lorde, and his mercifull goodnes vnto such as turne vnto him? 30 For all thinges may not be in man, and why? the sonne of man is not immortal, and he hath pleasure in the vanitie of wickednesse. 31 What is more cleare then the sonne: yet shall it fayle. 32 Or what is more wicked then the thyng that fleshe and blood hath imagined? and that same shalbe reproued. 33 The Lorde seeth the power of the hye heauen, and al are but earth and asshes.
DouayRheims(i) 1 GOD created man of the earth, and made him after his own image. 2 And he turned him into it again, and clothed him with strength according to himself. 3 He gave him the number of his days and time, and gave him power over all things that are upon the earth. 4 He put the fear of him upon all flesh, and he had dominion over beasts and fowls. 5 He created of him a helpmate like to himself: he gave them counsel, and a tongue, and eyes, and ears, and a heart to devise: and he filled them with the knowledge of understanding. 6 He created in them the science of the spirit, he filled their heart with wisdom, and shewed them both good and evil. 7 He set his eye upon their hearts to shew them the greatness of his works: 8 That they might praise the name which he hath sanctified: and glory in his wondrous acts, that they might declare the glorious things of his works. 9 Moreover he gave them instructions, and the law of life for an inheritance. 10 He made an everlasting covenant with them, and he shewed them his justice and judgments. 11 And their eye saw the majesty of his glory. and their ears heard his glorious voice, and he said to them: Beware of all iniquity. 12 And he gave to every one of them commandment concerning his neighbour. 13 Their ways are always before him, they are not hidden from his eyes. 14 Over every nation he set a ruler. 15 And Israel was made the manifest portion of God. 16 And all their works are as the sun in the sight of God: and his eyes are continually upon their ways. 17 Their covenants were not hid by their iniquity, and all their iniquities are in the sight of God. 18 The alms of a man is as a signet with him, and shall preserve the grace of a man as the apple of the eye: 19 And afterward he shall rise up, and shall render them their reward, to every one upon their own head, and shall turn them down into the bowels of the earth. 20 But to the penitent he hath given the way of justice, and he hath strengthened them that were fainting in patience, and hath appointed to them the lot of truth. 21 Turn to the Lord, and forsake thy sins: 22 Make thy prayer before the face of the Lord, and offend less. 23 Return to the Lord, and turn away from thy injustice, and greatly hate abomination. 24 And know the justices and judgments of God, and stand firm in the lot set before thee, and in prayer to the most high God. 25 Go to the side of the holy age, with them that live and give praise to God. 26 Tarry not in the error of the ungodly, give glory before death. Praise perisheth from the dead as nothing. 27 Give thanks whilst thou art living, whilst thou art alive and in health thou shalt give thanks, and shalt praise God, and shalt glory in his mercies. 28 How great is the mercy of the Lord, and his forgiveness to them that turn to him I 29 For all things cannot be in men, because the son of man is not immortal, and they are delighted with the vanity of evil. 30 What is brighter than the sun; yet it shall be eclipsed. Or what is more wicked than that which flesh and blood hath invented? and this shall be reproved. 31 He beholdeth the power of the height of heaven: and all men are earth and ashes.
KJV(i) 1 The Lord created man of the earth, and turned him into it again. 2 He gave them few days, and a short time, and power also over the things therein. 3 He endued them with strength by themselves, and made them according to his image, 4 And put the fear of man upon all flesh, and gave him dominion over beasts and fowls. 5 They received the use of the five operations of the Lord, and in the sixth place he imparted them understanding, and in the seventh speech, an interpreter of the cogitations thereof.] 6 Counsel, and a tongue, and eyes, ears, and a heart, gave he them to understand. 7 Withal he filled them with the knowledge of understanding, and shewed them good and evil. 8 He set his eye upon their hearts, that he might shew them the greatness of his works. 9 He gave them to glory in his marvellous acts for ever, that they might declare his works with understanding. 10 And the elect shall praise his holy name. 11 Beside this he gave them knowledge, and the law of life for an heritage. 12 He made an everlasting covenant with them, and shewed them his judgments. 13 Their eyes saw the majesty of his glory, and their ears heard his glorious voice. 14 And he said unto them, Beware of all unrighteousness; and he gave every man commandment concerning his neighbour. 15 Their ways are ever before him, and shall not be hid from his eyes. 16 Every man from his youth is given to evil; neither could they make to themselves fleshy hearts for stony. 17 For in the division of the nations of the whole earth he set a ruler over every people; but Israel is the Lord's portion: 18 Whom, being his firstborn, he nourisheth with discipline, and giving him the light of his love doth not forsake him. 19 Therefore all their works are as the sun before him, and his eyes are continually upon their ways. 20 None of their unrighteous deeds are hid from him, but all their sins are before the Lord 21 But the Lord being gracious and knowing his workmanship, neither left nor forsook them, but spared them. 22 The alms of a man is as a signet with him, and he will keep the good deeds of man as the apple of the eye, and give repentance to his sons and daughters. 23 Afterwards he will rise up and reward them, and render their recompence upon their heads. 24 But unto them that repent, he granted them return, and comforted those that failed in patience. 25 Return unto the Lord, and forsake thy sins, make thy prayer before his face, and offend less. 26 Turn again to the most High, and turn away from iniquity: for he will lead thee out of darkness into the light of health, and hate thou abomination vehemently. 27 Who shall praise the most High in the grave, instead of them which live and give thanks? 28 Thanksgiving perisheth from the dead, as from one that is not: the living and sound in heart shall praise the Lord. 29 How great is the lovingkindness of the Lord our God, and his compassion unto such as turn unto him in holiness! 30 For all things cannot be in men, because the son of man is not immortal. 31 What is brighter than the sun? yet the light thereof faileth; and flesh and blood will imagine evil. 32 He vieweth the power of the height of heaven; and all men are but earth and ashes.

ERV(i) 1 The Lord created man of the earth, And turned him back unto it again. 2 He gave them days by number, and a set time, And gave them authority over the things that are thereon. 3 He endued them with strength proper to them; And made them according to his own image. 4 He put the fear of man upon all flesh, And [gave him] to have dominion over beasts and fowls. 5 6 Counsel, and tongue, and eyes, Ears, and heart, gave he them to understand withal. 7 He filled them with the knowledge of wisdom, And shewed them good and evil. 8 He set his eye upon their hearts, To shew them the majesty of his works. 9 10 And they shall praise the name of [his] holiness, That they may declare the majesty of his works. 11 He added unto them knowledge, And gave them a law of life for a heritage. 12 He made an everlasting covenant with them, And shewed them his judgements. 13 Their eyes saw the majesty of [his] glory; And their ear heard the glory of his voice. 14 And he said unto them, Beware of all unrighteousness; And he gave them commandment, each man concerning his neighbour. 15 Their ways are ever before him; They shall not be hid from his eyes. 16 17 For every nation he appointed a ruler; And Israel is the Lord’s portion. 18 19 All their works are as the sun before him; And his eyes are continually upon their ways. 20 Their iniquities are not hid from him; And all their sins are before the Lord. 21 22 With him the alms of a man is as a signet; And he will keep the bounty of a man as the apple of the eye. 23 Afterwards he will rise up and recompense them, And render their recompense upon their head. 24 Howbeit unto them that repent he granteth a return; And he comforteth them that are losing patience. 25 Return unto the Lord, and forsake sins: Make thy prayer before [his] face, and lessen the offence. 26 Turn again to the Most High, and turn away from iniquity; And greatly hate the abominable thing. 27 Who shall give praise to the Most High in the grave, Instead of them which live and return thanks? 28 Thanksgiving perisheth from the dead, as from one that is not: He that is in life and health shall praise the Lord. 29 How great is the mercy of the Lord, And his forgiveness unto them that turn unto him! 30 For all things cannot be in men, Because the son of man is not immortal. 31 What is brighter than the sun? yet this faileth: And an evil man will think on flesh and blood. 32 He looketh upon the power of the height of heaven: And all men are earth and ashes.

LXX2012(i) 1 The Lord created man of the earth, and turned him into it again. 2 He gave them few days, and a short time, and power also over the things therein. 3 He endued them with strength by themselves, and made them according to his image, 4 And put the fear of man upon all flesh, and gave him dominion over beasts and fowls. 5 [They received the use of the five operations of the Lord, and in the sixth place he imparted them understanding, and in the seventh speech, an interpreter of the cogitations thereof.] 6 Counsel, and a tongue, and eyes, ears, and a heart, gave he them to understand. 7 Withal he filled them with the knowledge of understanding, and showed them good and evil. 8 He set his eye upon their hearts, that he might show them the greatness of his works. 9 He gave them to glory in his marvelous acts for ever, that they might declare his works with understanding. 10 And the elect shall praise his holy name. 11 Beside this he gave them knowledge, and the law of life for an heritage. 12 He made an everlasting covenant with them, and showed them his judgments. 13 Their eyes saw the majesty of his glory, and their ears heard his glorious voice. 14 And he said to them, Beware of all unrighteousness; and he gave every man commandment concerning his neighbor. 15 Their ways are ever before him, and shall not be hid from his eyes. 16 Every man from his youth is given to evil; neither could they make to themselves fleshy hearts for stony. 17 For in the division of the nations of the whole earth he set a ruler over every people; but Israel is the Lord's portion: 18 Whom, being his firstborn, he nourishes with discipline, and giving him the light of his love does not forsake him. 24 But to them that repent, he granted them return, and comforted those that failed in patience. 25 Return to the Lord, and forsake your sins, make your prayer before his face, and offend less. 26 Turn again to the most High, and turn away from iniquity: for he will lead you out of darkness into the light of health, and hate you abomination vehemently. 27 Who shall praise the most High in the grave, instead of them which live and give thanks? 28 Thanksgiving perishes from the dead, as from one that is not: the living and sound in heart shall praise the Lord. 29 How great is the lovingkindness of the Lord our God, and his compassion to such as turn to him in holiness! 30 For all things can’t be in men, because the son of man is not immortal. 31 What is brighter than the sun? yet the light thereof fails; and flesh and blood will imagine evil. 32 He views the power of the height of heaven; and all men are but earth and ashes.
