Genesis 20

KJV_Strongs(i)
H85 And Abraham H5265 journeyed [H8799]   H5045 from thence toward the south H776 country H3427 , and dwelled [H8799]   H6946 between Kadesh H7793 and Shur H1481 , and sojourned [H8799]   H1642 in Gerar.
H85 And Abraham H559 said [H8799]   H413 of H8283 Sarah H802 his wife H269 , She is my sister H40 : and Abimelech H4428 king H1642 of Gerar H7971 sent [H8799]   H3947 , and took [H8799]   H8283 Sarah.
H430 But God H935 came [H8799]   H40 to Abimelech H2472 in a dream H3915 by night H559 , and said [H8799]   H4191 to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man [H8801]   H802 , for the woman H3947 which thou hast taken [H8804]   H1167 ; for she is a man's H1166 wife [H8803]  .
H40 But Abimelech H7126 had not come near [H8804]   H559 her: and he said [H8799]   H136 , Lord H2026 , wilt thou slay [H8799]   H6662 also a righteous H1471 nation?
H559 Said [H8804]   H1931 he not unto me, She H269 is my sister H1931 ? and she H1571 , even H1931 she H559 herself said [H8804]   H251 , He is my brother H8537 : in the integrity H3824 of my heart H5356 and innocency H3709 of my hands H6213 have I done [H8804]   this.
H430 And God H559 said [H8799]   H2472 unto him in a dream H1571 , Yea H3045 , I know [H8804]   H6213 that thou didst [H8804]   H8537 this in the integrity H3824 of thy heart H2820 ; for I also withheld [H8799]   H2398 thee from sinning [H8800]   H5414 against me: therefore suffered [H8804]   H5060 I thee not to touch [H8800]   her.
H7725 Now therefore restore [H8685]   H376 the man H802 his wife H5030 ; for he is a prophet H6419 , and he shall pray [H8691]   H1157 for thee H2421 , and thou shalt live [H8798]   H7725 : and if thou restore [H8688]   H3045 her not, know [H8798]   H4191 thou that thou shalt surely [H8800]   H4191 die [H8799]  , thou, and all that are thine.
H40 Therefore Abimelech H7925 rose early [H8686]   H1242 in the morning H7121 , and called [H8799]   H5650 all his servants H1696 , and told [H8762]   H1697 all these things H241 in their ears H582 : and the men H3966 were sore H3372 afraid [H8799]  .
H40 Then Abimelech H7121 called [H8799]   H85 Abraham H559 , and said [H8799]   H6213 unto him, What hast thou done [H8804]   H2398 unto us? and what have I offended [H8804]   H935 thee, that thou hast brought [H8689]   H4467 on me and on my kingdom H1419 a great H2401 sin H6213 ? thou hast done [H8804]   H4639 deeds H6213 unto me that ought not to be done [H8735]  .
H40 And Abimelech H559 said [H8799]   H85 unto Abraham H4100 , What H7200 sawest thou [H8804]   H6213 , that thou hast done [H8804]   H1697 this thing?
H85 And Abraham H559 said [H8799]   H559 , Because I thought [H8804]   H7535 , Surely H3374 the fear H430 of God H4725 is not in this place H2026 ; and they will slay me [H8804]   H802 for my wife's H1697 sake.
H546 And yet indeed H269 she is my sister H1323 ; she is the daughter H1 of my father H1323 , but not the daughter H517 of my mother H802 ; and she became my wife.
H430 And it came to pass, when God H8582 caused me to wander [H8689]   H1 from my father's H1004 house H559 , that I said [H8799]   H2617 unto her, This is thy kindness H6213 which thou shalt shew [H8799]   H4725 unto me; at every place H935 whither we shall come [H8799]   H559 , say [H8798]   H251 of me, He is my brother.
H40 And Abimelech H3947 took [H8799]   H6629 sheep H1241 , and oxen H5650 , and menservants H8198 , and womenservants H5414 , and gave [H8799]   H85 them unto Abraham H7725 , and restored [H8686]   H8283 him Sarah H802 his wife.
H40 And Abimelech H559 said [H8799]   H776 , Behold, my land H6440 is before thee H3427 : dwell [H8798]   H2896 where it pleaseth H5869   thee.
H8283 And unto Sarah H559 he said [H8804]   H5414 , Behold, I have given [H8804]   H251 thy brother H505 a thousand H3701 pieces of silver H3682 : behold, he is to thee a covering H5869 of the eyes H3198 , unto all that are with thee, and with all other : thus she was reproved [H8737]  .
H85 So Abraham H6419 prayed [H8691]   H430 unto God H430 : and God H7495 healed [H8799]   H40 Abimelech H802 , and his wife H519 , and his maidservants H3205 ; and they bare [H8799]   children .
H3068 For the LORD H6113 had fast [H8800]   H6113 closed up [H8804]   H7358 all the wombs H1004 of the house H40 of Abimelech H1697 , because H8283 of Sarah H85 Abraham's H802 wife.
ERV(i) 1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the land of the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur; and he sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, because of the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. 4 Now Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay even a righteous nation? 5 Said he not himself unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I know that in the integrity of thy heart thou hast done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. 8 And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake. 12 And moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife: 13 and it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14 And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and menservants and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, it is for thee a covering of the eyes to all that are with thee; and in respect of all thou art righted. 17 And Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
