Daniel 2 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, by which his spirit was troubled, and his sleep broke from him.

1 H8147 And in the second H8141 year H4438 of the reign H5019 of Nebuchadnezzar H5019 Nebuchadnezzar H2492 [H8804] dreamed H2472 dreams, H7307 by which his spirit H6470 [H8691] was troubled, H8142 and his sleep H1961 [H8738] broke from him.

2 H4428 Then the king H559 [H8799] commanded H7121 [H8800] to call H2748 the magicians, H825 and the astrologers, H3784 [H8764] and the sorcerers, H3778 and the Chaldeans, H5046 [H8687] to show H4428 the king H2472 his dreams. H935 [H8799] So they came H5975 [H8799] and stood H6440 at the face of H4428 the king.

3 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H2492 [H8804] to them, I have dreamed H2472 a dream, H7307 and my spirit H6470 [H8735] was troubled H3045 [H8800] to know H2472 the dream.

4 H3778 Then the Chaldeans H1696 [H8762] spoke H4428 to the king H762 in Syrian, H4430 O king, H2418 [H8747] live H5957 for ever: H560 [H8747] tell H5649 thy servants H2493 the dream, H2324 [H8741] and we will show H6591 the interpretation.

5 H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said H3779 to the Chaldeans, H4406 The thing H230 [H8754] is gone H4481 from me: H2006 if H3809 ye will not H3046 [H8681] make known H2493 to me the dream, H6591 with the interpretation H5648 [H8725] of it, ye shall be cut H1917 in pieces, H1005 and your houses H7761 [H8725] shall be made H5122 a refuse heap.

6 H2006 But if H2324 [H8681] ye shall show H2493 the dream, H6591 and the interpretation H6902 [H8741] of it, ye shall receive H4481 of H6925 me H4978 gifts H5023 and rewards H7690 and great H3367 honour: H3861 therefore H2324 [H8680] show H2493 me the dream, H6591 and the interpretation of it.

7 H6032 [H8754] They answered H8579 again H560 [H8750] and said, H4430 Let the king H560 [H8748] tell H5649 his servants H2493 the dream, H2324 [H8681] and we will show H6591 the interpretation of it.

8 H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said, H576 I H3046 [H8751] know H4481 of H3330 certainty H608 that ye H2084 [H8750] would gain H5732 the time, H6903 H3606 because H2370 [H8754] ye see H4406 the thing H230 [H8754] is gone H4481 from me.

9 H2006 But if H3809 ye will not H3046 [H8681] make known H2493 to me the dream, H1932 H2298 there is but one H1882 decree H2164 [H8724] for you: for ye have prepared H3538 lying H7844 [H8752] and decaying H4406 words H560 [H8749] to speak H6925 before H5705 me, till H5732 the time H8133 [H8721] be changed: H3861 therefore H560 [H8747] tell H2493 me the dream, H3046 [H8748] and I shall know H1768 that H2324 [H8681] ye can show H6591 me the interpretation of it.

10 H3779 The Chaldeans H6032 [H8754] answered H6925 before H4430 the king, H560 [H8750] and said, H383 There is H3809 not H606 a man H5922 upon H3007 the dry land H3202 [H8748] that can H2324 [H8682] reveal H4430 the king's H4406 matter: H6903 H1768 therefore H3809 there is no H4430 king, H7229 lord, H7990 nor ruler, H7593 [H8754] that hath asked H1836 such H4406 things H3606 of any H2749 magician, H826 or astrologer, H3779 or Chaldean.

11 H3358 And it is a rare H4406 thing H4430 that the king H7593 [H8751] requireth, H383 and there is H3809 no H321 other H2324 [H8741] that can reveal H6925 it before H4430 the king, H3861 except H426 the gods, H4070 whose dwelling H383 is H3809 not H5974 with H1321 flesh.

12 H6903 For H1836 this H3606 cause H4430 the king H1149 [H8754] was angry H7690 and very H7108 [H8754] furious, H560 [H8754] and commanded H7 [H8682] to be made lost H3606 all H2445 the wise H895 men of Babylon.

13 H1882 And the decree H5312 [H8754] went forth H2445 that the wise H6992 [H8726] men should be slain; H1156 [H8754] and they sought H1841 Daniel H2269 and his companions H6992 [H8723] to be slain.

14 H116 Then H1841 Daniel H8421 [H8684] answered H5843 with counsel H2942 and taste H746 to Arioch H7229 the captain H1768 of H4430 the king's H2877 guard, H5312 [H8754] who had gone forth H6992 [H8742] to slay H2445 the wise H895 men of Babylon:

15 H6032 [H8750] He answered H560 [H8750] and said H746 to Arioch H4430 the king's H7990 captain, H4101 H5922 Why H1882 is the decree H2685 [H8683] so hasty H4481 H6925 from H4430 the king? H116 Then H746 Arioch H4406 made the thing H3046 [H8684] known H1841 to Daniel.

16 H1841 Then Daniel H5954 [H8754] went in, H1156 [H8754] and desired H4481 of H4430 the king H5415 [H8748] that he would give H2166 him time, H2324 [H8682] and that he would show H4430 the king H6591 the interpretation.

17 H116 Then H1841 Daniel H236 [H8754] went H1005 to his house, H4406 and made the thing H3046 [H8684] known H2608 to Hananiah, H4333 Mishael, H5839 and Azariah, H2269 his companions:

18 H1156 [H8749] That they would desire H7359 mercies H4481 H6925 of H426 the God H8065 of heaven H5922 concerning H1836 this H7328 secret; H1841 that Daniel H2269 and his companions H3809 should not H7 [H8681] be made lost H5974 with H7606 the rest H2445 of the wise H895 men of Babylon.

19 H116 Then H7328 was the secret H1541 [H8752] revealed H1841 to Daniel H3916 in a night H2376 vision. H116 Then H1841 Daniel H1289 [H8745] blessed H426 the God H8065 of heaven.

20 H1841 Daniel H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said, H1289 [H8743] Blessed H1934 [H8748] be H8036 the name H426 of God H4481 for H5957 ever H5705 H5957 and ever: H2452 for wisdom H1370 and might H1932 are his:

21 H8133 [H8683] And he changeth H5732 the times H2166 and the seasons: H5709 [H8683] he removeth H4430 kings, H6966 [H8683] and setteth up H4430 kings: H3052 [H8751] he giveth H2452 wisdom H2445 to the wise, H4486 and knowledge H3046 [H8751] to them that know H999 understanding:

22 H1541 [H8751] He revealeth H5994 the deep H5642 [H8743] and secret things: H3046 [H8751] he knoweth H4101 what H2816 is in the darkness, H5094 and the light H8271 [H8754] dwelleth H5974 with him.

23 H576 I H3029 [H8683] thank H7624 [H8743] thee, and adore H426 thee, O thou God H2 of my fathers, H3052 [H8754] who hast given H2452 me wisdom H1370 and might, H3046 [H8684] and hast made known H3705 to me now H1156 [H8754] what we desired H4481 of thee: H3046 [H8684] for thou hast now made known H4430 to us the king's H4406 matter.

24 H3606 H6903 H1836 Therefore H1841 Daniel H5954 [H8754] went in H5922 to H746 Arioch, H4430 whom the king H4483 [H8745] had ordained H7 [H8682] to be made lost H2445 the wise H895 men of Babylon: H236 [H8754] he went H560 [H8754] and said H3652 thus H7 [H8681] to him; Make lost H409 not H2445 the wise H895 men of Babylon: H5954 [H8680] bring me in H6925 before H4430 the king, H2324 [H8741] and I will reveal H4430 to the king H6591 the interpretation.

25 H116 Then H746 Arioch H5954 [H8684] brought in H1841 Daniel H6925 before H4430 the king H927 [H8726] in haste, H560 [H8754] and said H3652 thus H7912 [H8684] to him, I have found H1400 a man H1123 H1547 of the captives H4481 of H3061 Judah, H3046 [H8681] that will make known H4430 to the king H6591 the interpretation.

26 H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said H1841 to Daniel, H8036 whose name H1096 was Belteshazzar, H383 Art H3546 [H8751] thou able H3046 [H8682] to make known H2493 to me the dream H2370 [H8754] which I have seen, H6591 and the interpretation of it?

27 H1841 Daniel H6032 [H8750] answered H6925 in the presence H4430 of the king, H560 [H8750] and said, H7328 The secret H4430 which the king H7593 H3809 [H8751] hath demanded H2445 the wise H826 men, the astrologers, H2749 the magicians, H1505 [H8750] the soothsayers, H3202 [H8750] cannot H2324 [H8682] reveal H4430 to the king;

28 H1297 But H383 there is H426 a God H8065 in heaven H1541 [H8751] that revealeth H7328 secrets, H3046 [H8684] and maketh known H4430 to the king H5020 Nebuchadnezzar H4101 what H1934 [H8748] shall be H320 in the latter H3118 days. H2493 Thy dream, H2376 and the visions H7217 of thy head H5922 upon H4903 thy bed, H1836 are these;

29 H607 As for thee, H4430 O king, H7476 thy thoughts H5559 [H8760] came H5922 into thee upon H4903 thy bed, H4101 what H1934 [H8748] should come to pass H311 after H1836 this: H1541 [H8751] and he that revealeth H7328 secrets H3046 [H8684] maketh known H4101 to thee what H1934 [H8748] shall come to pass.

30 H576 But as for me, H1836 this H7328 secret H3809 is not H1541 [H8752] revealed H2452 to me for any wisdom H383 that I have H4481 more than H3606 any H2417 living, H3861 but H1701 for their sakes H5922 that H3046 [H8681] shall make known H6591 the interpretation H4430 to the king, H3046 [H8748] and that thou mayest know H7476 the thoughts H3825 of thy heart.

31 H607 Thou, H4430 O king, H1934 H2370 [H8754] sawest, H431 and behold H2298 H7690 a great H6755 image. H1797 This H7229 great H6755 image, H2122 whose brightness H3493 was excellent, H6966 [H8750] stood H6903 before H7299 thee; and its form H1763 [H8753] was terrible.

32 H7217 The head H6755 of this image H2869 was of fine H1722 gold, H2306 his breast H1872 and his arms H3702 of silver, H4577 his belly H3410 and his thighs H5174 of brass,

33 H8243 His legs H6523 of iron, H7271 his feet H4481 part H6523 of iron H4481 and part H2635 of clay.

34 H2370 H1934 [H8751] Thou sawest H5705 till H69 a stone H1505 [H8728] was cut out H3809 without H3028 hands, H4223 [H8754] which smote H6755 the image H5922 upon H7271 his feet H6523 that were of iron H2635 and clay, H1855 0 and broke H1994 them H1855 [H8684] to pieces.

35 H116 Then H6523 was the iron, H2635 the clay, H5174 the brass, H3702 the silver, H1722 and the gold, H1855 H1751 [H8754] broken to pieces H2298 together, H1934 [H8754] and became H5784 like the chaff H4481 of H7007 the summer H147 threshingfloors; H7308 and the wind H5376 0 carried H1994 them H5376 [H8754] away, H3606 that H3809 no H870 place H7912 [H8728] was found H69 for them: and the stone H4223 [H8754] that smote H6755 the image H1934 [H8754] became H7229 a great H2906 mountain, H4391 [H8754] and filled H3606 the whole H772 earth.

36 H1836 This H2493 is the dream; H560 [H8748] and we will tell H6591 the interpretation H6925 of it before H4430 the king.

37 H607 Thou, H4430 O king, H4430 art a king H4430 of kings: H426 for the God H8065 of heaven H3052 [H8754] hath given H4437 thee a kingdom, H2632 power, H8632 and strength, H3367 and honour.

38 H3606 And wherever H1123 the children H606 of men H1753 [H8748] dwell, H2423 the beasts H1251 of the field H5776 and the fowls H8065 of the heaven H3052 [H8754] hath he given H3028 into thy hand, H7981 [H8684] and hath made thee ruler H3606 over them all. H607 Thou H7217 art this head H1722 of gold.

39 H870 And after H6966 [H8748] thee shall arise H317 another H4437 kingdom H772 inferior H4481 to thee, H317 and another H8523 third H4437 kingdom H5174 of brass, H7981 [H8748] which shall bear rule H3606 over all H772 the earth.

40 H7244 And the fourth H4437 kingdom H1934 [H8748] shall be H8624 strong H6523 as iron: H6523 forasmuch as iron H1855 [H8683] breaketh in pieces H2827 [H8751] and subdueth H3606 all H6903 things: and as H6523 iron H7490 [H8750] that breaketh H3606 all H459 these, H1855 [H8681] shall it break in pieces H7490 [H8748] and bruise.

41 H2370 [H8754] And though thou sawest H7271 the feet H677 and toes, H4481 part H6353 of potters' H2635 clay, H4481 and part H6523 of iron, H4437 the kingdom H1934 [H8748] shall be H6386 [H8752] divided; H4481 0 but H1934 [H8748] there shall be H4481 in it of H5326 the strength H6523 of the iron, H3606 H6903 forasmuch as H2370 [H8754] thou sawest H6523 the iron H6151 [H8743] mixed H2917 with the miry H2635 clay.

42 H677 And as the toes H7271 of the feet H4481 were part H6523 of iron, H4481 and part H2635 of clay, H4437 so the kingdom H1934 [H8748] shall be H4481 H7118 partly H8624 strong, H4481 H7118 and partly H8406 [H8750] broken.

43 H1768 And though H2370 [H8754] thou sawest H6523 iron H6151 [H8743] mixed H2917 with miry H2635 clay, H1934 H6151 [H8748] they shall mingle themselves H2234 with the seed H606 of men: H1934 [H8748] but they shall H3809 not H1693 [H8751] join H1836 one H5974 to H1836 another, H1888 even H6523 as iron H3809 is not H6151 [H8723] mixed H2635 with clay.

44 H3118 And in the days H581 of these H4430 kings H426 shall the God H8065 of heaven H6966 [H8681] set up H4437 a kingdom, H5957 H3809 which shall never H2255 [H8721] be ruined: H4437 and the kingdom H3809 shall not H7662 [H8721] be left H321 to other H5972 people, H1855 [H8681] but it shall break in pieces H5487 [H8681] and consume H3606 all H459 these H4437 kingdoms, H1932 and it H6966 [H8748] shall stand H5957 for ever.

45 H3606 H6903 Forasmuch as H2370 [H8754] thou sawest H69 that the stone H1505 [H8728] was cut out H2906 of the mountain H3809 without H3028 hands, H1855 [H8684] and that it broke in pieces H6523 the iron, H5174 the brass, H2635 the clay, H3702 the silver, H1722 and the gold; H7229 the great H426 God H3046 [H8684] hath made known H4430 to the king H4101 what H1934 [H8748] shall come to pass H311 after H1836 this: H2493 and the dream H3330 is certain, H6591 and the interpretation H540 [H8683] of it sure.

46 H116 Then H4430 the king H5020 Nebuchadnezzar H5308 [H8754] fell H5922 upon H600 his face, H5457 [H8754] and worshipped H1841 Daniel, H560 [H8754] and commanded H5260 [H8742] that they should offer H4504 an oblation H5208 and sweet odours to him.

47 H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H1841 to Daniel, H560 [H8750] and said, H4481 Of H7187 a truth H1768 it is, that H426 your God H426 is the God H426 of gods, H4756 and the Lord H4430 of kings, H1541 [H8751] and a revealer H7328 of secrets, H3202 [H8754] seeing thou couldest H1541 [H8749] reveal H1836 this H7328 secret.

48 H116 Then H4430 the king H7236 0 made H1841 Daniel H7236 [H8745] a great man, H3052 [H8754] and gave H7690 him many H7260 great H4978 gifts, H7981 [H8684] and made him ruler H5922 over H3606 the whole H4083 province H895 of Babylon, H7229 and chief H5460 of the governors H5922 over H3606 all H2445 the wise H895 men of Babylon.

49 H1841 Then Daniel H1156 [H8754] requested H4481 of H4430 the king, H4483 [H8745] and he set H7715 Shadrach, H4336 Meshach, H5665 and Abednego, H5922 over H5673 the affairs H4083 of the province H895 of Babylon: H1841 but Daniel H8651 sat in the gate H4430 of the king.
