2 Samuel 12:10-23

  10 H2719 Now therefore the sword H5704 H5769 shall never H5493 [H8799] depart H1004 from thy house; H6118 because H959 [H8804] thou hast despised H3947 [H8799] me, and hast taken H802 the wife H223 of Uriah H2850 the Hittite H802 to be thy wife.

  11 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H6965 [H8688] Behold, I will raise up H7451 evil H1004 against thee out of thy own house, H3947 [H8804] and I will take H802 thy wives H5869 before thine eyes, H5414 [H8804] and give H7453 them to thy neighbour, H7901 [H8804] and he shall lie H802 with thy wives H5869 in the eyes H8121 of this sun.

  12 H6213 [H8804] For thou didst H5643 it secretly: H6213 [H8799] but I will do H1697 this thing H3478 before all Israel, H8121 and before the sun.

  13 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H5416 to Nathan, H2398 [H8804] I have sinned H3068 against the LORD. H5416 And Nathan H559 [H8799] said H1732 to David, H3068 The LORD H5674 [H8689] also hath put away H2403 thy sin; H4191 [H8799] thou shalt not die.

  14 H657 But, H1697 because by this deed H5006 0 thou hast given H5006 [H8763] great occasion H341 [H8802] to the enemies H3068 of the LORD H5006 [H8765] to blaspheme, H1121 the child H3209 also that is born H4191 [H8800] to thee shall surely H4191 [H8799] die.

  15 H5416 And Nathan H3212 [H8799] departed H1004 to his house. H3068 And the LORD H5062 [H8799] struck H3206 the child H223 that Uriah's H802 wife H3205 [H8804] bore H1732 to David, H605 [H8735] and he was very sick.

  16 H1732 David H1245 [H8762] therefore besought H430 God H5288 for the child; H1732 and David H6684 H6685 [H8799] fasted, H935 [H8804] and went in, H7901 [H8804] and lay H3885 [H8804] all night H776 upon the earth.

  17 H2205 And the elders H1004 of his house H6965 [H8799] arose, H6965 [H8687] and went to him, to raise him H776 from the earth: H14 [H8804] but he would H1262 [H8804] not, neither did he eat H3899 bread with them.

  18 H7637 And it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day, H3206 that the child H4191 [H8799] died. H5650 And the servants H1732 of David H3372 [H8799] feared H5046 [H8687] to tell H3206 him that the child H4191 [H8804] was dead: H559 [H8804] for they said, H3206 Behold, while the child H2416 was yet alive, H1696 [H8765] we spoke H8085 [H8804] to him, and he would not hearken H6963 to our voice: H6213 0 how will he then H7451 H6213 [H8804] be grieved, H559 [H8799] if we tell H3206 him that the child H4191 [H8804] is dead?

  19 H1732 But when David H7200 [H8799] saw H5650 that his servants H3907 [H8693] whispered, H1732 David H995 [H8799] perceived H3206 that the child H4191 [H8804] was dead: H1732 therefore David H559 [H8799] said H5650 to his servants, H3206 Is the child H4191 [H8804] dead? H559 [H8799] And they said, H4191 [H8804] He is dead.

  20 H1732 Then David H6965 [H8799] arose H776 from the earth, H7364 [H8799] and washed, H5480 [H8686] and anointed H2498 [H8762] himself, and changed H8071 his apparel, H935 [H8799] and came H1004 into the house H3068 of the LORD, H7812 [H8691] and worshipped: H935 [H8799] then he came H1004 to his own house; H7592 [H8799] and when he required, H7760 [H8799] they set H3899 food H398 [H8799] before him, and he ate.

  21 H559 [H8799] Then said H5650 his servants H1697 to him, What thing H6213 [H8804] is this that thou hast done? H6684 [H8804] thou didst fast H1058 [H8799] and weep H3206 for the child, H2416 while he was alive; H3206 but after the child H4191 [H8804] was dead, H6965 [H8804] thou didst rise H398 [H8799] and eat H3899 bread.

  22 H559 [H8799] And he said, H3206 While the child H2416 was yet alive, H6684 [H8804] I fasted H1058 [H8799] and wept: H559 [H8804] for I said, H3045 [H8802] Who can tell H3068 whether the LORD H2603 H2603 [H8804] will be gracious H3206 to me, that the child H2416 may live?

  23 H4191 [H8804] But now he is dead, H6684 [H8802] why should I fast? H3201 [H8799] can H7725 [H8687] I bring him back again? H1980 [H8802] I shall go H7725 [H8799] to him, but he shall not return to me.
