Wycliffe(i) 1 The mynde of Josie maad in the makyng of odour, is the werk of a pyment makere. 2 In ech mouth his mynde schal be maad swete as hony, and as musik in the feeste of wyn. 3 He was dressid of God in the penaunce of folk; and he took awei the abhomynaciouns of wickidnesse. 4 And the herte of hym gouernede to the Lord; and in the daies of synnes he strengthide pitee. 5 Outakun Dauid, Ezechie and Josie, alle kyngis diden synne. 6 For whi the kyngis of Juda leften the lawe of myyti God, and dispisiden the drede of God. 7 For thei yauen her rewme to othere men, and her glorie to an alien folk. 8 Thei brenten the chosun citee of hoolynesse; and thei maden the weies therof forsakun in the hond of Jeremye. 9 For thei tretiden yuel hym, which from the wombe of the modir was halewid a profete, to turne vpsedoun, and to leese, and efte to bilde, and make newe. 10 Ezechiel, that siy the siyt of glorie, which the Lord schewide to hym in the chare of cherubyn. 11 For he made mynde of enemyes in reyn, to do wel to hem, that schewiden riytful weies. 12 And the boonys of twelue profetis apperen fro her place; and thei strengthiden Jacob, and ayenbouyten hem in the feith of her vertu. 13 Hou schulen we alarge Zorobabel? for whi and he was a signe in the riyt hond of God to Israel; 14 and Jhesu, the sone of Josedech? whiche in her daies bildiden an hous, and enhaunsiden the hooli temple to the Lord, maad redi in to euerlastynge glorie. 15 And Neemye in the mynde of myche tyme, that reiside to vs the wallis, `that weren cast doun, and made the yatis and lockis to stonde; which Neemye reiside oure housis. 16 No man borun in erthe was such as Enok; for whi and he was resseyued fro the erthe. 17 And Joseph, that was borun a man, the prince of britheren, the stidfastnesse of folk, the gouernour of britheren, the stablischyng of puple; 18 and his boonys weren visitid, and profesieden after deth. 19 Seth and Sem, these gaten glorie anentis men, and ouer ech man in the generacioun of Adam.
Geneva(i) 1 The remembrance of Iosias is like the composition of the perfume that is made by the art of ye apothecarie: it is sweete as honie in al mouthes, and as musike at a banket of wine. 2 He behaued himselfe vprightly in the reformation of the people, and tooke away all abominations of iniquitie. 3 He directed his heart vnto the Lord, and in the time of the vngodly he established religion. 4 All, except Dauid and Ezekias, and Iosias, committed wickednesse: for euen the Kings of Iuda forsooke the Lawe of the most High, and failed. 5 Therefore he gaue their horne vnto other, and their honour to a strange nation. 6 He burnt the elect citie of the Sanctuarie, and destroyed the streetes thereof according to the prophesie of Ieremias. 7 For they intreated him euill, which neuerthelesse was a Prophet, sanctified from his mothers wombe, that he might roote out, and afflict, and destroy, and that he might also builde vp, and plant. 8 Ezechiel sawe the glorious vision, which was shewed him vpon the charet of the Cherubims. 9 For he made mention of the enemies vnder the figure of the raine, and directed them that went right. 10 And let the bones of the twelue Prophets flourish out of their place, and let their memorie be blessed: for they comforted Iacob, and deliuered them by assured hope. 11 Howe shall we prayse Zorobabel, which was as a ring on the right hand! 12 So was Iesus also the sonne of Iosedec: these men in their time builded the house, and set vp the Sanctuarie of the Lord againe, which was prepared for an euerlasting worship. 13 And among ye elect was Neemias whose renoume is great, which set vp for vs the walles that were fallen, and set vp the gates and the barres, and layed the foundations of our houses. 14 But vpon the earth was no man created like Enoch: for he was taken vp from the earth. 15 Neither was there a like man vnto Ioseph the gouernour of his brethren, and the vpholder of his people, whose bones were kept. 16 Sem & Seth were in great honour among men: and so was Adam aboue euery liuing thing in the creation.
Bishops(i) 1 The remembraunce of Iosias, is lyke as whe the apothecarie maketh many precious sweete smelling thinges together: his remembraunce shalbe sweete as hony in all mouthes, and as the playing of musicke at a banket of wine. 2 He was appoynted to turne the people againe, and to take away all abhominations of the vngodlie. 3 He directed his heart vnto the Lorde, and in the time of the vngodlie he set vp the worship of God againe. 4 All kinges except Dauid, Ezechias, and Iosias, committed wickednes: for euen the kinges of Iuda also forsoke the lawe of God. 5 For they gaue their horne vnto other, their honour & worship also to a strauge people. 6 Therefore was the elect citie of the sanctuarie brent with fire, and the streetes therof layd desolate and waste in the hande of Ieremie. 7 For they entreated him euill, which neuerthelesse was a prophete, ordayned from his mothers wombe, that he might roote out, breake of, and destroy: and that he might builde vp, and plant againe. 8 Ezechiel sawe the glorie of the Lorde in a vision, which was shewed him vpon the charet of the Cherubims. 9 For he thought vpon the enemies in the rayne, to do good vnto such as had ordered their wayes aright. 10 And the bones of the twelue prophetes florished from out of their place: for they gaue comfort and consolation vnto Iacob, and deliuered them faithfully. 11 How shal we prayse Zorobabel, which was as a ring on the right hande? 12 So was Iesus also the sonne of Iosedec: these men in their times builded the house, & set vp the sanctuarie of the Lorde againe, which was prepared for an euerlasting worship. 13 And among the elect was Nehemias, whose renowme was great, which set vp for vs the walles that were broken downe, made the portes and barres againe, and builded our houses a new. 14 But vpon the earth is there no man created lyke Enoch: for he was taken vp from the earth. 15 Neither was there a lyke man vnto Ioseph, which was lord of his brethren, and the vpholder of his people: his bones were couered and kept. 16 Seth and Sem were in great honour among the people, and so was Adam aboue all the beastes when he was created.
DouayRheims(i) 1 THE memory of Josias is like the composition of a sweet smell made by the art of a perfumer: 2 His remembrance shall be sweet as honey in every mouth, and as music at a banquet of wine. 3 He was directed by God unto the repentance of the nation, and he took away the abominations of wickedness. 4 And he directed his heart towards the Lord, and in the days of sinners he strengthened godliness. 5 Except David, and Ezechias, and Josias, all committed sin. 6 For the kings of Juda forsook the law of the most High, and despised the fear of God. 7 So they gave their kingdom to others, and their glory to a strange nation. 8 They burnt the chosen city of holiness, and made the streets thereof desolate according to the prediction of Jeremias. 9 For they treated him evil, who was consecrated a prophet from his mother's womb, to overthrow, and pluck up, and destroy, and to build again, and renew. 10 It was Ezechiel that saw the glorious vision, which was shewn him upon the chariot of cherubims. 11 For he made mention of the enemies under the figure of rain, and of doing good to them that shewed right ways. 12 And may the bones of the twelve prophets spring up out of their place: for they strengthened Jacob, and re- deemed themselves by strong faith. 13 How shall we magnify Zorobabel? for he was as a signet on the right hand; 14 In like manner Jesus the son of Josedec? who in their days built the house, and set up a holy temple to the Lord, prepared for everlasting glory. 15 And let Nehemias be a long time remembered, who raised up for us our walls that were cast down, and set up the gates and the bars, who rebuilt our houses. 16 No man was born upon earth like Henoch: for he also was taken up from the earth. 17 Nor as Joseph, who was a man born prince of his brethren, the support of his family, the ruler of his brethren, the stay of the people: 18 And his bones were visited, and after death they prophesied. 19 Seth and Sem obtained glory among men: and above every soul Adam in the beginning.
KJV(i) 1 The remembrance of Josias is like the composition of the perfume that is made by the art of the apothecary: it is sweet as honey in all mouths, and as musick at a banquet of wine. 2 He behaved himself uprightly in the conversion of the people, and took away the abominations of iniquity. 3 He directed his heart unto the Lord, and in the time of the ungodly he established the worship of God. 4 All, except David and Ezekias and Josias, were defective: for they forsook the law of the most High, even the kings of Juda failed. 5 Therefore he gave their power unto others, and their glory to a strange nation. 6 They burnt the chosen city of the sanctuary, and made the streets desolate, according to the prophecy of Jeremias. 7 For they entreated him evil, who nevertheless was a prophet, sanctified in his mother's womb, that he might root out, and afflict, and destroy; and that he might build up also, and plant. 8 It was Ezekiel who saw the glorious vision, which was shewed him upon the chariot of the cherubims. 9 For he made mention of the enemies under the figure of the rain, and directed them that went right. 10 And of the twelve prophets let the memorial be blessed, and let their bones flourish again out of their place: for they comforted Jacob, and delivered them by assured hope. 11 How shall we magnify Zorobabel? even he was as a signet on the right hand: 12 So was Jesus the son of Josedec: who in their time builded the house, and set up an holy temple to the Lord, which was prepared for everlasting glory. 13 And among the elect was Neemias, whose renown is great, who raised up for us the walls that were fallen, and set up the gates and the bars, and raised up our ruins again. 14 But upon the earth was no man created like Enoch; for he was taken from the earth. 15 Neither was there a young man born like Joseph, a governor of his brethren, a stay of the people, whose bones were regarded of the Lord. 16 Sem and Seth were in great honour among men, and so was Adam above every living thing in creation.

ERV(i) 1 The memorial of Josiah is like the composition of incense Prepared by the work of the apothecary: It shall be sweet as honey in every mouth, And as music at a banquet of wine. 2 He behaved himself uprightly in the conversion of the people, And took away the abominations of iniquity. 3 He set his heart right toward the Lord; In the days of wicked men he made godliness to prevail. 4 Except David and Hezekiah and Josiah, All committed trespass: For they forsook the law of the Most High; The kings of Judah failed. 5 For they gave their power unto others, And their glory to a strange nation. 6 They set on fire the chosen city of the sanctuary, And made her streets desolate, [as it was written] by the hand of Jeremiah. 7 For they entreated him evil; And yet he was sanctified in the womb to be a prophet, To root out, and to afflict, and to destroy; [And] in like manner to build and to plant. 8 [It was] Ezekiel who saw the vision of glory, Which [God] shewed him upon the chariot of the cherubim. 9 For verily he remembered the enemies in storm, And to do good to them that directed their ways aright. 10 Also of the twelve prophets May the bones flourish again out of their place. And he comforted Jacob, And delivered them by confidence of hope. 11 How shall we magnify Zerubbabel? And he was as a signet on the right hand: 12 So was Jesus the son of Josedek: Who in their days builded the house, And exalted a people holy to the Lord, Prepared for everlasting glory. 13 Also of Nehemiah the memorial is great; Who raised up for us the walls that were fallen, And set up the gates and bars, And raised up our homes again. 14 No man was created upon the earth such as was Enoch; For he was taken up from the earth. 15 Neither was there a man born like unto Joseph, A governor of his brethren, a stay of the people: Yea, his bones were visited. 16 Shem and Seth were glorified among men; And above every living thing in the creation is Adam.

LXX2012(i) 1 The remembrance of Josias is like the composition of the perfume that is made by the are of the apothecary: it is sweet as honey in all mouths, and as musick at a banquet of wine. 2 He behaved himself uprightly in the conversion of the people, and took away the abominations of iniquity. 3 He directed his heart to the Lord, and in the time of the ungodly he established the worship of God. 4 All, except David and Ezekias and Josias, were defective: for they forsook the law of the most High, even the kings of Juda failed. 5 Therefore he gave their power to others, and their glory to a strange nation. 8 It was Ezekiel who saw the glorious vision, which was showed him upon the chariot of the cherubims. 16 Sem and Seth were in great honor among men, and so was Adam above every living thing in creation.
