Clementine_Vulgate(i)

1 My sonne, if thou wilt come into the seruice of God, stand fast in righteousnesse and feare, and prepare thy soule to tentation.
2 Settle thine heart, and be patient: bowe downe thine eare, and receiue the wordes of vnderstanding, and shrinke not away, when thou art assayled, but waite vpon God patiently.
3 Ioyne thy selfe vnto him, and depart not away, that thou mayest be increased at thy last end.
4 Whatsoeuer commeth vnto thee, receiue it patiently, & be patient in ye change of thine afflictio.

7 Ye that feare the Lorde, waite for his mercie shrinke not away from him that ye fall not.
8 Ye that feare the Lord, beleeue him, and your reward shall not faile.
9 O ye that feare ye Lorde, trust in good things, and in the euerlasting ioy and mercie.
10 Ye that feare the Lorde, loue him, and your hearts shall be lightened.
11 Consider the olde generations of men, ye children, and marke them well: was there euer any confounded, that put his trust in the Lorde? or who hath continued in his feare, & was forsaken? or whom did he euer despise, that called vpon him?
12 For God is gracious and mercifull, and forgiueth sinnes, & saueth in the time of trouble, and is a defender for al them that seeke him in the trueth.
13 Woe vnto them, that haue a fearefull heart, and to the wicked lips and to the faint hands, andto the sinner that goeth two maner of waies.
14 Woe vnto him that is faint hearted, for hee beleeueth not: therefore shall he not be defended.
15 Woe vnto you that haue lost patience, and haue forsaken the right waies, and are turned backe into froward waies: for what will ye doe when the Lord shall visite you?
16 They that feare the Lord, wil not disobey his worde: and they that loue him, wil keepe his waies.
17 They that feare the Lorde, will seeke out the things that are pleasant vnto him: and they that loue him, shalbe fulfilled with his Lawe.
18 They that feare the Lord, will prepare their hearts, and humble their soules in his sight.
19 They that feare the Lorde, keepe his comandements, and will be patient till he see them,

1 SON, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation.
2 Humble thy heart, and endure: incline thy ear, and receive the words of understanding: and make not haste in the time of clouds.
3 Wait on God with patience: join thyself to God, and endure, that thy life may be increased in the latter end.
4 Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience.
5 For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.
6 Believe God, and he will recover thee: and direct thy way, and trust in him. Keep his fear, and grow old therein.
7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy: and go not aside from him, lest ye fall.
8 Ye that fear the Lord, believe him: and your reward shall not be made void.
9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope in him: and mercy shall come to you for your delight.
10 Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened.
11 My children behold the generations of men: and know ye that no one hath hoped in the Lord, and hath been confounded.
12 For who hath continued in his commandment, and hath been forsaken? or who hath called upon him, and he despised him?
13 For God is compassionate and merciful, and will forgive sins in the day of tribulation: and he is a protector to all that seek him in truth.
14 Woe to them that are of a double heart and to wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner that goeth on the earth two ways.
15 Woe to them that are fainthearted, who believe not God: and therefore they shall not be protected by him.
16 Woe to them that have lost patience, and that have forsaken the right ways, and have gone aside into crooked ways.
17 And what will they do, when the Lord shall begin to examine?
18 They that fear the Lord, will not be incredulous to his word: and they that love him, will keep his way.
19 They that fear the Lord, will seek after the things that are well pleasing to him: and they that love him, shall be filled with his law.
20 They that fear the Lord, will prepare their hearts, and in his sight will sanctify their souls.
21 They that fear the Lord, keep his Commandments, and will have patience even until his visitation,
22 Saying: If we do not penance, we shall fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men.
23 For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him.

1 My son, if thou come to serve the Lord, prepare thy soul for temptation.
2 Set thy heart aright, and constantly endure, and make not haste in time of trouble.
3 Cleave unto him, and depart not away, that thou mayest be increased at thy last end.
4 Whatsoever is brought upon thee take cheerfully, and be patient when thou art changed to a low estate.
5 For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity.
6 Believe in him, and he will help thee; order thy way aright, and trust in him.
7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; and go not aside, lest ye fall.
8 Ye that fear the Lord, believe him; and your reward shall not fail.
9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope for good, and for everlasting joy and mercy.
10 Look at the generations of old, and see; did ever any trust in the Lord, and was confounded? or did any abide in his fear, and was forsaken? or whom did he ever despise, that called upon him?
11 For the Lord is full of compassion and mercy, longsuffering, and very pitiful, and forgiveth sins, and saveth in time of affliction.
12 Woe be to fearful hearts, and faint hands, and the sinner that goeth two ways!
13 Woe unto him that is fainthearted! for he believeth not; therefore shall he not be defended.
14 Woe unto you that have lost patience! and what will ye do when the Lord shall visit you?
15 They that fear the Lord will not disobey his Word; and they that love him will keep his ways.
16 They that fear the Lord will seek that which is well, pleasing unto him; and they that love him shall be filled with the law.
17 They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and humble their souls in his sight,

3 Cleave unto him, and depart not, That thou mayest be increased at thy latter end.
4 Accept whatsoever is brought upon thee, And be longsuffering when thou passest into humiliation.
5 For gold is tried in the fire, And acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.
6 Put thy trust in him, and he will help thee: Order thy ways aright, and set thy hope on him.
7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; And turn not aside, lest ye fall.
8 Ye that fear the Lord, put your trust in him; And your reward shall not fail.
9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope for good things, And for eternal gladness and mercy.
10 Look at the generations of old, and see: Who did ever put his trust in the Lord, and was ashamed? Or who did abide in his fear, and was forsaken? Or who did call upon him, and he despised him?
11 For the Lord is full of compassion and mercy; And he forgiveth sins, and saveth in time of affliction.
12 Woe unto fearful hearts, and to faint hands, And to the sinner that goeth two ways!
13 Woe unto the faint heart! for it believeth not; Therefore shall it not be defended.
14 Woe unto you that have lost your patience! And what will ye do when the Lord shall visit you?
15 They that fear the Lord will not disobey his words; And they that love him will keep his ways.
16 They that fear the Lord will seek his good pleasure; And they that love him shall be filled with the law.
17 They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, And will humble their souls in his sight,
18 [saying,] We will fall into the hands of the Lord, And not into the hands of men: For as his majesty is, So also is his mercy.
