2 Kings 17:23-41 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight , as he had said by all his servants the prophets . So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

24 H4428 And the king H804 of Assyria H935 brought [H8686] H894 men from Babylon H3575 , and from Cuthah H5755 , and from Ava H2574 , and from Hamath H5617 , and from Sepharvaim H3427 , and placed [H8686] H5892 them in the cities H8111 of Samaria H1121 instead of the children H3478 of Israel H3423 : and they possessed [H8799] H8111 Samaria H3427 , and dwelt [H8799] H5892 in the cities thereof.

25 H8462 And so it was at the beginning H3427 of their dwelling [H8800] H3372 there, that they feared [H8804] H3068 not the LORD H3068 : therefore the LORD H7971 sent [H8762] H738 lions H2026 among them, which slew [H8802] some of them.

26 H559 Wherefore they spake [H8799] H4428 to the king H804 of Assyria H559 , saying [H8800] H1471 , The nations H1540 which thou hast removed [H8689] H3427 , and placed [H8686] H5892 in the cities H8111 of Samaria H3045 , know [H8804] H4941 not the manner H430 of the God H776 of the land H7971 : therefore he hath sent [H8762] H738 lions H4191 among them, and, behold, they slay [H8688] H3045 them, because they know [H8802] H4941 not the manner H430 of the God H776 of the land.

27 H4428 Then the king H804 of Assyria H6680 commanded [H8762] H559 , saying [H8800] H3212 , Carry [H8685] H259 thither one H3548 of the priests H1540 whom ye brought [H8689] H3212 from thence; and let them go [H8799] H3427 and dwell [H8799] H3384 there, and let him teach [H8686] H4941 them the manner H430 of the God H776 of the land.

28 H259 Then one H3548 of the priests H1540 whom they had carried away [H8689] H8111 from Samaria H935 came [H8799] H3427 and dwelt [H8799] H1008 in Bethel H3384 , and taught [H8688] H3372 them how they should fear [H8799] H3068 the LORD.

29 H1471 Howbeit every nation H6213 made [H8802] H430 gods H3240 of their own, and put [H8686] H1004 them in the houses H1116 of the high places H8118 which the Samaritans H6213 had made [H8804] H1471 , every nation H5892 in their cities H3427 wherein they dwelt [H8802] .

30 H582 And the men H894 of Babylon H6213 made [H8804] H5524 Succothbenoth H582 , and the men H3575 of Cuth H6213 made [H8804] H5370 Nergal H582 , and the men H2574 of Hamath H6213 made [H8804] H807 Ashima,

31 H5757 And the Avites H6213 made [H8804] H5026 Nibhaz H8662 and Tartak H5616 , and the Sepharvites H8313 burnt [H8802] H1121 their children H784 in fire H152 to Adrammelech H6048 and Anammelech H430 , the gods H5617 of Sepharvaim.

32 H3373 So they feared H3068 the LORD H6213 , and made [H8799] H7098 unto themselves of the lowest H3548 of them priests H1116 of the high places H6213 , which sacrificed [H8802] H1004 for them in the houses H1116 of the high places.

33 H3373 They feared H3068 the LORD H5647 , and served [H8802] H430 their own gods H4941 , after the manner H1471 of the nations H1540 whom they carried away [H8689] from thence.

34 H3117 Unto this day H6213 they do [H8802] H7223 after the former H4941 manners H3373 : they fear H3068 not the LORD H6213 , neither do [H8802] H2708 they after their statutes H4941 , or after their ordinances H8451 , or after the law H4687 and commandment H3068 which the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H1121 the children H3290 of Jacob H7760 , whom he named [H8804] H8034 H3478 Israel;

35 H3068 With whom the LORD H3772 had made [H8799] H1285 a covenant H6680 , and charged [H8762] H559 them, saying [H8800] H3372 , Ye shall not fear [H8799] H312 other H430 gods H7812 , nor bow [H8691] H5647 yourselves to them, nor serve [H8799] H2076 them, nor sacrifice [H8799] to them:

36 H3068 But the LORD H5927 , who brought you up [H8689] H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H1419 with great H3581 power H5186 and a stretched out [H8803] H2220 arm H3372 , him shall ye fear [H8799] H7812 , and him shall ye worship [H8691] H2076 , and to him shall ye do sacrifice [H8799] .

37 H2706 And the statutes H4941 , and the ordinances H8451 , and the law H4687 , and the commandment H3789 , which he wrote [H8804] H8104 for you, ye shall observe [H8799] H6213 to do [H8800] H3117 for evermore H3372 ; and ye shall not fear [H8799] H312 other H430 gods.

38 H1285 And the covenant H3772 that I have made [H8804] H7911 with you ye shall not forget [H8799] H3372 ; neither shall ye fear [H8799] H312 other H430 gods.

39 H3068 But the LORD H430 your God H3372 ye shall fear [H8799] H5337 ; and he shall deliver [H8686] H3027 you out of the hand H341 of all your enemies [H8802] .

40 H8085 Howbeit they did not hearken [H8804] H6213 , but they did [H8802] H7223 after their former H4941 manner.

41 H1471 So these nations H3373 feared H3068 the LORD H5647 , and served [H8802] H6456 their graven images H1121 , both their children H1121 , and their children's H1121 children H6213 : as did [H8804] H1 their fathers H6213 , so do [H8802] H3117 they unto this day.
