  2 H4427 He reigned [H8804]   H7969 three H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem H517 . His mother's H8034 name H4322 also was Michaiah H1323 the daughter H222 of Uriel H1390 of Gibeah H4421 . And there was war H29 between Abijah H3379 and Jeroboam.
  3 H29 And Abijah H631 set H4421 the battle H631 in array [H8799]   H2428 with an army H1368 of valiant men H4421 of war H702 , even four H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 chosen [H8803]   H376 men H3379 : Jeroboam H4421 also set the battle H6186 in array [H8804]   H8083 against him with eight H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 chosen [H8803]   H376 men H1368 , being mighty men H2428 of valour.
  4 H29 And Abijah H6965 stood up [H8799]   H2022 upon mount H6787 Zemaraim H2022 , which is in mount H669 Ephraim H559 , and said [H8799]   H8085 , Hear [H8798]   H3379 me, thou Jeroboam H3478 , and all Israel;
  5 H3045 Ought ye not to know [H8800]   H3068 that the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H5414 gave [H8804]   H4467 the kingdom H3478 over Israel H1732 to David H5769 for ever H1121 , even to him and to his sons H1285 by a covenant H4417 of salt?
  6 H3379 Yet Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat H5650 , the servant H8010 of Solomon H1121 the son H1732 of David H6965 , is risen up [H8799]   H4775 , and hath rebelled [H8799]   H113 against his lord.
  7 H6908 And there are gathered [H8735]   H7386 unto him vain H582 men H1121 , the children H1100 of Belial H553 , and have strengthened [H8691]   H7346 themselves against Rehoboam H1121 the son H8010 of Solomon H7346 , when Rehoboam H5288 was young H7390 and tenderhearted H3824   H2388 , and could not withstand [H8694]   H6440 them.
  8 H559 And now ye think [H8802]   H2388 to withstand [H8692]   H6440 the kingdom H4467   H3068 of the LORD H3027 in the hand H1121 of the sons H1732 of David H7227 ; and ye be a great H1995 multitude H2091 , and there are with you golden H5695 calves H3379 , which Jeroboam H6213 made [H8804]   H430 you for gods.
  9 H5080 Have ye not cast out [H8689]   H3548 the priests H3068 of the LORD H1121 , the sons H175 of Aaron H3881 , and the Levites H6213 , and have made [H8799]   H3548 you priests H5971 after the manner of the nations H776 of other lands H935 ? so that whosoever cometh [H8802]   H4390 to consecrate [H8763]   H3027   H1121 himself with a young H1241   H6499 bullock H7651 and seven H352 rams H3548 , the same may be a priest H3808 of them that are no H430 gods.
  10 H3068 But as for us, the LORD H430 is our God H5800 , and we have not forsaken [H8804]   H3548 him; and the priests H8334 , which minister [H8764]   H3068 unto the LORD H1121 , are the sons H175 of Aaron H3881 , and the Levites H4399 wait upon their business:
  11 H6999 And they burn [H8688]   H3068 unto the LORD H1242 every morning H6153 and every evening H5930 burnt sacrifices H5561 and sweet H7004 incense H3899 : the shewbread H4635   H2889 also set they in order upon the pure H7979 table H4501 ; and the candlestick H2091 of gold H5216 with the lamps H1197 thereof, to burn [H8763]   H6153 every evening H8104 : for we keep [H8802]   H4931 the charge H3068 of the LORD H430 our God H5800 ; but ye have forsaken [H8804]   him.
  12 H430 And, behold, God H7218 himself is with us for our captain H3548 , and his priests H8643 with sounding H2689 trumpets H7321 to cry alarm [H8687]   H1121 against you. O children H3478 of Israel H3898 , fight [H8735]   H3068 ye not against the LORD H430 God H1 of your fathers H6743 ; for ye shall not prosper [H8686]  .
  13 H3379 But Jeroboam H3993 caused an ambushment H935 to come [H8800]   H5437 about [H8689]   H310 behind H6440 them: so they were before H3063 Judah H3993 , and the ambushment H310 was behind them.
  14 H3063 And when Judah H6437 looked back [H8799]   H4421 , behold, the battle H6440 was before H268 and behind H6817 : and they cried [H8799]   H3068 unto the LORD H3548 , and the priests H2690 sounded [H8688]   [H8675]   H2690   [H8764]   H2689 with the trumpets.
  15 H376 Then the men H3063 of Judah H7321 gave a shout [H8686]   H376 : and as the men H3063 of Judah H7321 shouted [H8687]   H430 , it came to pass, that God H5062 smote [H8804]   H3379 Jeroboam H3478 and all Israel H6440 before H29 Abijah H3063 and Judah.
  16 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H5127 fled [H8799]   H6440 before H3063 Judah H430 : and God H5414 delivered [H8799]   H3027 them into their hand.
  17 H29 And Abijah H5971 and his people H5221 slew [H8686]   H7227 them with a great H4347 slaughter H5307 : so there fell down [H8799]   H2491 slain H3478 of Israel H2568 five H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 chosen [H8803]   H376 men.
  18 H1121 Thus the children H3478 of Israel H3665 were brought [H8735]   H6256 under at that time H1121 , and the children H3063 of Judah H553 prevailed [H8799]   H8172 , because they relied [H8738]   H3068 upon the LORD H430 God H1 of their fathers.
  19 H29 And Abijah H7291 pursued [H8799]   H310 after H3379 Jeroboam H3920 , and took [H8799]   H5892 cities H1008 from him, Bethel H1323 with the towns H3466 thereof, and Jeshanah H1323 with the towns H6085 thereof, and Ephrain H1323 with the towns thereof.
  20 H3379 Neither did Jeroboam H6113 recover [H8804]   H3581 strength H3117 again in the days H29 of Abijah H3068 : and the LORD H5062 struck [H8799]   H4191 him, and he died [H8799]  .
  21 H29 But Abijah H2388 waxed mighty [H8691]   H5375 , and married [H8799]   H702 fourteen H6240   H802 wives H3205 , and begat [H8686]   H6242 twenty H8147 and two H1121 sons H8337 , and sixteen H6240   H1323 daughters.
  22 H3499 And the rest H1697 of the acts H29 of Abijah H1870 , and his ways H1697 , and his sayings H3789 , are written [H8803]   H4097 in the story H5030 of the prophet H5714 Iddo.
