1 Kings 1:39-53 And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle , and anointed Solomon . And they blew the trumpet ; and all the people said , God save king Solomon.

40 H5971 And all the people H5927 came up [H8799] H310 after H5971 him, and the people H2490 piped [H8764] H2485 with pipes H8056 , and rejoiced H1419 with great H8057 joy H776 , so that the earth H1234 rent [H8735] H6963 with the sound of them.

41 H138 And Adonijah H7121 and all the guests [H8803] H8085 that were with him heard [H8799] H3615 it as they had made an end [H8765] H398 of eating [H8800] H3097 . And when Joab H8085 heard [H8799] H6963 the sound H7782 of the trumpet H559 , he said [H8799] H6963 , Wherefore is this noise H7151 of the city H1993 being in an uproar [H8802] ?

42 H1696 And while he yet spake [H8764] H3129 , behold, Jonathan H1121 the son H54 of Abiathar H3548 the priest H935 came [H8804] H138 : and Adonijah H559 said [H8799] H935 unto him, Come in [H8798] H2428 ; for thou art a valiant H376 man [H8676] H381 H1319 , and bringest H2896 good H1319 tidings [H8762] .

43 H3129 And Jonathan H6030 answered [H8799] H559 and said [H8799] H138 to Adonijah H61 , Verily H113 our lord H4428 king H1732 David H8010 hath made Solomon H4427 king [H8689] .

44 H4428 And the king H7971 hath sent [H8799] H6659 with him Zadok H3548 the priest H5416 , and Nathan H5030 the prophet H1141 , and Benaiah H1121 the son H3077 of Jehoiada H3774 , and the Cherethites H6432 , and the Pelethites H7392 , and they have caused him to ride [H8686] H4428 upon the king's H6506 mule:

45 H6659 And Zadok H3548 the priest H5416 and Nathan H5030 the prophet H4886 have anointed [H8799] H4428 him king H1521 in Gihon H5927 : and they are come up [H8799] H8056 from thence rejoicing H7151 , so that the city H1949 rang again [H8735] H6963 . This is the noise H8085 that ye have heard [H8804] .

46 H8010 And also Solomon H3427 sitteth [H8804] H3678 on the throne H4410 of the kingdom.

47 H4428 And moreover the king's H5650 servants H935 came [H8804] H1288 to bless [H8763] H113 our lord H4428 king H1732 David H559 , saying [H8800] H430 , God H8034 make the name H8010 of Solomon H3190 better [H8686] H8034 than thy name H1431 , and make H3678 his throne H1431 greater [H8762] H3678 than thy throne H4428 . And the king H7812 bowed [H8691] H4904 himself upon the bed.

48 H559 And also thus said [H8804] H4428 the king H1288 , Blessed [H8803] H3068 be the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H5414 , which hath given [H8804] H3427 one to sit [H8802] H3678 on my throne H3117 this day H5869 , mine eyes H7200 even seeing [H8802] it .

49 H7121 And all the guests [H8803] H138 that were with Adonijah H2729 were afraid [H8799] H6965 , and rose up [H8799] H3212 , and went [H8799] H376 every man H1870 his way.

50 H138 And Adonijah H3372 feared [H8804] H6440 because H8010 of Solomon H6965 , and arose [H8799] H3212 , and went [H8799] H2388 , and caught hold [H8686] H7161 on the horns H4196 of the altar.

51 H5046 And it was told [H8714] H8010 Solomon H559 , saying [H8800] H138 , Behold, Adonijah H3372 feareth [H8804] H4428 king H8010 Solomon H270 : for, lo, he hath caught hold [H8804] H7161 on the horns H4196 of the altar H559 , saying [H8800] H4428 , Let king H8010 Solomon H7650 swear [H8735] H3117 unto me to day H4191 that he will not slay [H8686] H5650 his servant H2719 with the sword.

52 H8010 And Solomon H559 said [H8799] H2428 , If he will shew himself a worthy H1121 man H8185 , there shall not an hair H5307 of him fall [H8799] H776 to the earth H7451 : but if wickedness H4672 shall be found [H8735] H4191 in him, he shall die [H8804] .

53 H4428 So king H8010 Solomon H7971 sent [H8799] H3381 , and they brought him down [H8686] H4196 from the altar H935 . And he came [H8799] H7812 and bowed [H8691] H4428 himself to king H8010 Solomon H8010 : and Solomon H559 said [H8799] H3212 unto him, Go [H8798] H1004 to thine house.
