H4853 The burden H1834 of Damascus H1834 . Behold, Damascus H5493 is taken away [H8716]   H5892 from being a city H4654 , and it shall be a ruinous H4596 heap.
H5892 The cities H6177 of Aroer H5800 are forsaken [H8803]   H5739 : they shall be for flocks H7257 , which shall lie down [H8804]   H2729 , and none shall make them afraid [H8688]  .
H4013 The fortress H7673 also shall cease [H8738]   H669 from Ephraim H4467 , and the kingdom H1834 from Damascus H7605 , and the remnant H758 of Syria H3519 : they shall be as the glory H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H5002 , saith [H8803]   H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts.
H3117 And in that day H3519 it shall come to pass, that the glory H3290 of Jacob H1809 shall be made thin [H8735]   H4924 , and the fatness H1320 of his flesh H7329 shall wax lean [H8735]  .
H7105 And it shall be as when the harvestman H622 gathereth [H8800]   H7054 the corn H7114 , and reapeth [H8799]   H7641 the ears H2220 with his arm H3950 ; and it shall be as he that gathereth [H8764]   H7641 ears H6010 in the valley H7497 of Rephaim.
H5955 Yet gleaning grapes H7604 shall be left [H8738]   H5363 in it, as the shaking H2132 of an olive tree H8147 , two H7969 or three H1620 berries H7218 in the top H534 of the uppermost bough H702 , four H2568 or five H6509 in the outmost fruitful [H8802]   H5585 branches H5002 thereof, saith [H8803]   H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel.
H3117 At that day H120 shall a man H8159 look [H8799]   H6213 to his Maker [H8802]   H5869 , and his eyes H7200 shall have respect [H8799]   H6918 to the Holy H3478 One of Israel.
H8159 And he shall not look [H8799]   H4196 to the altars H4639 , the work H3027 of his hands H7200 , neither shall respect [H8799]   H676 that which his fingers H6213 have made [H8804]   H842 , either the groves H2553 , or the images.
H3117 In that day H4581 shall his strong H5892 cities H5800 be as a forsaken [H8803]   H2793 bough H534 , and an uppermost branch H5800 , which they left [H8804]   H6440 because H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H8077 : and there shall be desolation.
H7911 Because thou hast forgotten [H8804]   H430 the God H3468 of thy salvation H2142 , and hast not been mindful [H8804]   H6697 of the rock H4581 of thy strength H5193 , therefore shalt thou plant [H8799]   H5282 pleasant H5194 plants H2232 , and shalt set [H8799]   H2114 it with strange [H8801]   H2156 slips:
H3117 In the day H5194 shalt thou make thy plant H7735 to grow [H8770]   H1242 , and in the morning H2233 shalt thou make thy seed H6524 to flourish [H8686]   H7105 : but the harvest H5067 shall be a heap H3117 in the day H2470 of grief [H8737]   H605 and of desperate [H8803]   H3511 sorrow.
H1945 Woe H1995 to the multitude H7227 of many H5971 people H1993 , which make a noise [H8799]   H1993 like the noise [H8800]   H3220 of the seas H7588 ; and to the rushing H3816 of nations H7582 , that make a rushing like the rushing [H8735]   H3524 of mighty H4325 waters!
H3816 The nations H7582 shall rush [H8735]   H7588 like the rushing H7227 of many H4325 waters H1605 : but God shall rebuke [H8804]   H5127 them, and they shall flee [H8804]   H4801 far off H7291 , and shall be chased [H8795]   H4671 as the chaff H2022 of the mountains H6440 before H7307 the wind H1534 , and like a rolling thing H6440 before H5492 the whirlwind.
H6256 And behold at eveningtide H6153   H1091 trouble H1242 ; and before the morning H2506 he is not. This is the portion H8154 of them that spoil [H8802]   H1486 us, and the lot H962 of them that rob [H8802]   us.
KJV(i) 1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. 5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. 6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. 8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images. 9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: 11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow. 12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! 13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
