G3972 Paul G1401 , a servant G2316 of God G1161 , and G652 an apostle G2424 of Jesus G5547 Christ G2596 , according to G4102 the faith G2316 of God's G1588 elect G2532 , and G1922 the acknowledging G225 of the truth G3588 which G2596 is after G2150 godliness;
G1909 In G1680 hope G166 of eternal G2222 life G3739 , which G2316 God G893 , that cannot lie G1861 , promised [G5662]   G4253 before G166 the world G5550 began;
G1161 But G5319 hath G2398 in due G2540 times G5319 manifested [G5656]   G846 his G3056 word G1722 through G2782 preaching G3739 , which G4100 is committed [G5681]   G1473 unto me G2596 according to G2003 the commandment G2316 of God G2257 our G4990 Saviour;
G5103 To Titus G1103 , mine own G5043 son G2596 after G2839 the common G4102 faith G5485 : Grace G1656 , mercy G1515 , and peace G575 , from G2316 God G3962 the Father G2532 and G2962 the Lord G2424 Jesus G5547 Christ G2257 our G4990 Saviour.
G5127 For this G5484 cause G2641 left I [G5627]   G4571 thee G1722 in G2914 Crete G2443 , that G1930 thou shouldest set in order [G5672]   G3007 the things that are wanting [G5723]   G2532 , and G2525 ordain [G5661]   G4245 elders G2596 in every G4172 city G5613 , as G1473 I G1299 had appointed [G5668]   G4671 thee:
G1536 If any G2076 be [G5748]   G410 blameless G435 , the husband G3391 of one G1135 wife G2192 , having [G5723]   G4103 faithful G5043 children G3361 not G1722 accused G2724   G810 of riot G2228 or G506 unruly.
G1063 For G1985 a bishop G1163 must [G5748]   G1511 be [G5750]   G410 blameless G5613 , as G3623 the steward G2316 of God G3361 ; not G829 selfwilled G3361 , not G3711 soon angry G3361 , not G3943 given to wine G3361 , no G4131 striker G3361 , not G146 given to filthy lucre;
G235 But G5382 a lover of hospitality G5358 , a lover of good men G4998 , sober G1342 , just G3741 , holy G1468 , temperate;
G472 Holding fast [G5740]   G4103 the faithful G3056 word G2596 as G1322 he hath been taught G2443 , that G5600 he may be [G5753]   G1415 able G1722 by G5198 sound [G5723]   G1319 doctrine G2532 both G3870 to exhort [G5721]   G2532 and G1651 to convince [G5721]   G483 the gainsayers [G5723]  .
G1063 For G1526 there are [G5748]   G4183 many G506 unruly G2532 and G3151 vain talkers G2532 and G5423 deceivers G3122 , specially G1537 they of G4061 the circumcision:
G3739 Whose G1993 mouths G1163 must [G5748]   G1993 be stopped [G5721]   G3748 , who G396 subvert [G5719]   G3650 whole G3624 houses G1321 , teaching [G5723]   G3739 things which G1163 they ought [G5748]   G3361 not G5484 , for G150 filthy G2771 lucre's G5484 sake.
G5100 One G1537 of G846 themselves G4396 , even a prophet G846 of their G2398 own G2036 , said [G5627]   G2912 , The Cretians G104 are alway G5583 liars G2556 , evil G2342 beasts G692 , slow G1064 bellies.
G3778 This G3141 witness G2076 is [G5748]   G227 true G1223 . Wherefore G3739   G156   G1651 rebuke [G5720]   G846 them G664 sharply G2443 , that G5198 they may be sound [G5725]   G1722 in G4102 the faith;
G3361 Not G4337 giving heed [G5723]   G2451 to Jewish G3454 fables G2532 , and G1785 commandments G444 of men G654 , that turn from [G5734]   G225 the truth.
G2513 Unto the pure G3956 all things G3303 are pure G2513   G1161 : but G3392 unto them that are defiled [G5772]   G2532 and G571 unbelieving G3762 is nothing G2513 pure G235 ; but G2532 even G846 their G3563 mind G2532 and G4893 conscience G3392 is defiled [G5769]  .
G3670 They profess [G5719]   G1492 that they know [G5760]   G2316 God G1161 ; but G2041 in works G720 they deny [G5736]   G5607 him, being [G5752]   G947 abominable G2532 , and G545 disobedient G2532 , and G4314 unto G3956 every G18 good G2041 work G96 reprobate.
ERV(i) 1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal; 3 but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour; 4 to Titus, my true child after a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour. 5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave thee charge; 6 if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly. 7 For the bishop must be blameless, as God’s steward; not selfwilled, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; 8 but given to hospitality, a lover of good, soberminded, just, holy, temperate; 9 holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers. 10 For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are alway liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons. 13 This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
