Job 35 Elihu spake moreover, and said ,

1 H453 Elihu H6030 spake [H8799] H559 moreover, and said [H8799] ,

2 H2803 Thinkest [H8804] H4941 thou this to be right H559 , that thou saidst [H8804] H6664 , My righteousness H410 is more than God's?

3 H559 For thou saidst [H8799] H5532 , What advantage [H8799] H3276 will it be unto thee? and, What profit [H8686] H2403 shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

4 H7725 I will answer [H8686] H4405 H7453 thee, and thy companions with thee.

5 H5027 Look [H8685] H8064 unto the heavens H7200 , and see [H8798] H7789 ; and behold [H8798] H7834 the clouds H1361 which are higher [H8804] than thou.

6 H2398 If thou sinnest [H8804] H6466 , what doest [H8799] H6588 thou against him? or if thy transgressions H7231 be multiplied [H8804] H6213 , what doest [H8799] thou unto him?

7 H6663 If thou be righteous [H8804] H5414 , what givest [H8799] H3947 thou him? or what receiveth [H8799] H3027 he of thine hand?

8 H7562 Thy wickedness H376 may hurt a man H6666 as thou art; and thy righteousness H1121 may profit the son H120 of man.

9 H7230 By reason of the multitude H6217 of oppressions H2199 they make the oppressed to cry [H8686] H7768 : they cry out [H8762] H2220 by reason of the arm H7227 of the mighty.

10 H559 But none saith [H8804] H433 , Where is God H6213 my maker [H8802] H5414 , who giveth [H8802] H2158 songs H3915 in the night;

11 H502 Who teacheth [H8764] H929 us more than the beasts H776 of the earth H2449 , and maketh us wiser [H8762] H5775 than the fowls H8064 of heaven?

12 H6817 There they cry [H8799] H6030 , but none giveth answer [H8799] H6440 , because H1347 of the pride H7451 of evil men.

13 H410 Surely God H8085 will not hear [H8799] H7723 vanity H7706 , neither will the Almighty H7789 regard [H8799] it.

14 H637 Although H559 thou sayest [H8799] H7789 thou shalt not see [H8799] H1779 him, yet judgment H6440 is before H2342 him; therefore trust [H8787] thou in him.

15 H6485 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited [H8804] H639 in his anger H3045 ; yet he knoweth [H8804] H3966 it not in great H6580 extremity:

16 H347 Therefore doth Job H6475 open [H8799] H6310 his mouth H1892 in vain H3527 ; he multiplieth [H8686] H4405 words H1097 without H1847 knowledge.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Moreover Elihu answered and said, ² Thinkest thou this to be [thy] right, [or] sayest thou, My righteousness is more than God’s, ³ That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? [and], What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned? ⁴ I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee. ⁵ Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the skies, which are higher than thou. ⁶ If thou hast sinned, what doest thou against him? and if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him. ⁷ If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? ⁸ Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou art; and thy righteousness [may profit] a son of man. ⁹ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; they cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty. ¹⁰ But none saith, Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night; ¹¹ Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? ¹² There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men. ¹³ Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. ¹⁴ How much less when thou sayest thou beholdest him not, the cause is before him, and thou waitest for him! ¹⁵ But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, neither doth he greatly regard arrogance; ¹⁶ Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vanity; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
