Ezekiel 19 Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

1 H5375 Moreover take thou up [H8798] H7015 a lamentation H5387 for the princes H3478 of Israel,

2 H559 And say [H8804] H517 , What is thy mother H3833 ? A lioness H7257 : she lay down [H8804] H738 among lions H7235 , she nourished [H8765] H1482 her whelps H8432 among H3715 young lions.

3 H5927 And she brought up [H8686] H259 one H1482 of her whelps H3715 : it became a young lion H3925 , and it learned [H8799] H2963 to catch [H8800] H2964 the prey H398 ; it devoured [H8804] H120 men.

4 H1471 The nations H8085 also heard [H8799] H8610 of him; he was taken [H8738] H7845 in their pit H935 , and they brought [H8686] H2397 him with chains H776 unto the land H4714 of Egypt.

5 H7200 Now when she saw [H8799] H3176 that she had waited [H8738] H8615 , and her hope H6 was lost [H8804] H3947 , then she took [H8799] H259 another H1482 of her whelps H7760 , and made [H8804] H3715 him a young lion.

6 H1980 And he went up and down [H8691] H8432 among H738 the lions H3715 , he became a young lion H3925 , and learned [H8799] H2963 to catch [H8800] H2964 the prey H398 , and devoured [H8804] H120 men.

7 H3045 And he knew [H8799] H490 their desolate palaces H2717 , and he laid waste [H8689] H5892 their cities H776 ; and the land H3456 was desolate [H8799] H4393 , and the fulness H6963 thereof, by the noise H7581 of his roaring.

8 H1471 Then the nations H5414 set [H8799] H5439 against him on every side H4082 from the provinces H6566 , and spread [H8799] H7568 their net H8610 over him: he was taken [H8738] H7845 in their pit.

9 H5414 And they put [H8799] H5474 him in ward H2397 in chains H935 , and brought [H8686] H4428 him to the king H894 of Babylon H935 : they brought [H8686] H4685 him into holds H6963 , that his voice H8085 should no more be heard [H8735] H2022 upon the mountains H3478 of Israel.

10 H517 Thy mother H1612 is like a vine H1818 in thy blood [H8676] H1818 H8362 , planted [H8803] H4325 by the waters H6509 : she was fruitful [H8802] H6058 and full of branches H7227 by reason of many H4325 waters.

11 H5797 And she had strong H4294 rods H7626 for the sceptres H4910 of them that bare rule [H8802] H6967 , and her stature H1361 was exalted [H8799] H5688 among the thick branches H7200 , and she appeared [H8735] H1363 in her height H7230 with the multitude H1808 of her branches.

12 H5428 But she was plucked up [H8714] H2534 in fury H7993 , she was cast down [H8717] H776 to the ground H6921 , and the east H7307 wind H3001 dried up [H8689] H6529 her fruit H5797 : her strong H4294 rods H6561 were broken [H8694] H3001 and withered [H8804] H784 ; the fire H398 consumed [H8804] them.

13 H8362 And now she is planted [H8803] H4057 in the wilderness H6723 , in a dry H6772 and thirsty H776 ground.

14 H784 And fire H3318 is gone out [H8799] H4294 of a rod H905 of her branches H398 , which hath devoured [H8804] H6529 her fruit H5797 , so that she hath no strong H4294 rod H7626 to be a sceptre H4910 to rule [H8800] H7015 . This is a lamentation H7015 , and shall be for a lamentation.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, ² and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she couched among lions, in the midst of the young lions she nourished her whelps. ³ And she brought up one of her whelps; he became a young lion: and he learned to catch the prey, he devoured men. ⁴ The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit: and they brought him with hooks unto the land of Egypt. ⁵ Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion. ⁶ And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion: and he learned to catch the prey, he devoured men. ⁷ And he knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, because of the noise of his roaring. ⁸ Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces: and they spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit. ⁹ And they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strong holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel. ¹⁰ Thy mother was like a vine, in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters. ¹¹ And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and their stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches. ¹² But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them. ¹³ And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land. ¹⁴ And fire is gone out of the rods of her branches, it hath devoured her fruit, so that there is in her no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
