  2 H5221 And he smote [H8686]   H4124 Moab H4058 , and measured [H8762]   H2256 them with a line H7901 , casting them down [H8687]   H776 to the ground H8147 ; even with two H2256 lines H4058 measured [H8762]   H4191 he to put to death [H8687]   H4393 , and with one full H2256 line H2421 to keep alive [H8687]   H4124 . And so the Moabites H1732 became David's H5650 servants H5375 , and brought [H8802]   H4503 gifts.
  3 H1732 David H5221 smote [H8686]   H1909 also Hadadezer H1121 , the son H7340 of Rehob H4428 , king H6678 of Zobah H3212 , as he went [H8800]   H7725 to recover [H8687]   H3027 his border H5104 at the river H6578 Euphrates.
  4 H1732 And David H3920 took [H8799]   H505 from him a thousand H7651 chariots, and seven H3967 hundred H6571 horsemen H6242 , and twenty H505 thousand H376 footmen H7273   H1732 : and David H6131 houghed [H8762]   H7393 all the chariot H3498 horses, but reserved [H8686]   H3967 of them for an hundred H7393 chariots.
  5 H758 And when the Syrians H1834 of Damascus H935 came [H8799]   H5826 to succour [H8800]   H1909 Hadadezer H4428 king H6678 of Zobah H1732 , David H5221 slew [H8686]   H758 of the Syrians H8147 two H6242 and twenty H505 thousand H376 men.
  6 H1732 Then David H7760 put [H8799]   H5333 garrisons H758 in Syria H1834 of Damascus H758 : and the Syrians H5650 became servants H1732 to David H5375 , and brought [H8802]   H4503 gifts H3068 . And the LORD H3467 preserved [H8686]   H1732 David H1980 whithersoever he went [H8804]  .
  7 H1732 And David H3947 took [H8799]   H7982 the shields H2091 of gold H5650 that were on the servants H1909 of Hadadezer H935 , and brought [H8686]   H3389 them to Jerusalem.
  8 H984 And from Betah H1268 , and from Berothai H5892 , cities H1909 of Hadadezer H4428 , king H1732 David H3947 took [H8804]   H3966 exceeding H7235 much [H8687]   H5178 brass.

  13 H1732 And David H6213 gat [H8799]   H8034 him a name H7725 when he returned [H8800]   H5221 from smiting [H8687]   H758 of the Syrians H1516 in the valley H4417 of salt H8083 , being eighteen H6240   H505 thousand men .
  14 H7760 And he put [H8799]   H5333 garrisons H123 in Edom H123 ; throughout all Edom H7760 put [H8804]   H5333 he garrisons H123 , and all they of Edom H1732 became David's H5650 servants H3068 . And the LORD H3467 preserved [H8686]   H1732 David H1980 whithersoever he went [H8804]  .
  15 H1732 And David H4427 reigned [H8799]   H3478 over all Israel H1732 ; and David H6213 executed [H8802]   H4941 judgment H6666 and justice H5971 unto all his people.

ERV(i) 1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full fine to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, and brought presents. 3 David smote also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. 4 And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots. 5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought presents. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass. 9 And when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, 10 then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: 11 These also did king David dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; 12 of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. 13 And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men. 14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people. 16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder: 17 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe; 18 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.
