1 Samuel 4:3-11 And when the people had come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Why hath the LORD smitten us to day at the face of the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the testament of the LORD out of Shiloh to us, that, when it cometh among us, it may liberate us from the palm of our enemies.

4 H5971 So the people H7971 [H8799] sent H7887 to Shiloh, H5375 [H8799] that they might bring H727 from there the ark H1285 of the testament H3068 of the LORD H6635 of hosts, H3427 [H8802] who dwelleth H3742 between the cherubim: H8147 and the two H1121 sons H5941 of Eli, H2652 Hophni H6372 and Phinehas, H727 were there with the ark H1285 of the testament H430 of God.

5 H727 And when the ark H1285 of the testament H3068 of the LORD H935 [H8800] came H4264 into the camp, H3478 all Israel H7321 [H8686] shouted H1419 with a great H8643 shout, H776 so that the earth H1949 [H8735] uproared.

6 H6430 And when the Philistines H8085 [H8799] heard H6963 the noise H8643 of the shout, H559 [H8799] they said, H6963 What meaneth the noise H1419 of this great H8643 shout H4264 in the camp H5680 of the Hebrews? H3045 [H8799] And they understood H727 that the ark H3068 of the LORD H935 [H8804] had come H4264 into the camp.

7 H6430 And the Philistines H3372 [H8799] were afraid, H559 [H8804] for they said, H430 God H935 [H8804] hath come H4264 into the camp. H559 [H8799] And they said, H188 Woe H865 H8032 to us! for there hath not been such a thing before.

8 H188 Woe H5337 [H8686] to us! who shall deliver H3027 us out of the hand H117 of these mighty H430 Gods? H430 these are the Gods H5221 [H8688] that smote H4714 the Egyptians H4347 with all the plagues H4057 in the wilderness.

9 H2388 [H8690] Be strong, H1961 [H8798] and acquit H582 yourselves like men, H6430 O ye Philistines, H5647 [H8799] that ye may not be servants H5680 to the Hebrews, H5647 [H8804] as they have been H1961 [H8804] to you: acquit H582 yourselves like men, H3898 [H8738] and fight.

10 H6430 And the Philistines H3898 [H8735] fought, H3478 and Israel H5062 [H8735] was smitten, H5127 [H8799] and they fled H376 every man H168 into his tent: H3966 and there was a very H1419 great H4347 slaughter; H5307 [H8799] for there fell H3478 of Israel H7970 thirty H505 thousand H7273 footmen.

11 H727 And the ark H430 of God H3947 [H8738] was taken; H8147 and the two H1121 sons H5941 of Eli, H2652 Hophni H6372 and Phinehas, H4191 [H8804] were slain.
