1 Samuel 4:3-11 ויבא were come העם And when the people אל into המחנה the camp, ויאמרו said, זקני the elders ישׂראל of Israel למה Wherefore נגפנו smitten יהוה hath the LORD היום us today לפני before פלשׁתים the Philistines? נקחה Let us fetch אלינו unto משׁלה את ארון the ark ברית of the covenant יהוה of the LORD ויבא us, that, when it cometh בקרבנו among וישׁענו us, it may save מכף us out of the hand איבינו׃ of our enemies.

5 H1961 ויהי H935 כבוא came H727 ארון And when the ark H1285 ברית of the covenant H3068 יהוה of the LORD H413 אל into H4264 המחנה the camp, H7321 וירעו shouted H3605 כל all H3478 ישׂראל Israel H8643 תרועה shout, H1419 גדולה with a great H1949 ותהם rang H776 הארץ׃ so that the earth

6 H8085 וישׁמעו heard H6430 פלשׁתים And when the Philistines H853 את H6963 קול the noise H8643 התרועה of the shout, H559 ויאמרו they said, H4100 מה What H6963 קול the noise H8643 התרועה shout H1419 הגדולה great H2063 הזאת of this H4264 במחנה in the camp H5680 העברים of the Hebrews? H3045 וידעו And they understood H3588 כי that H727 ארון the ark H3068 יהוה of the LORD H935 בא was come H413 אל into H4264 המחנה׃ the camp.

7 H3372 ויראו were afraid, H6430 הפלשׁתים And the Philistines H3588 כי for H559 אמרו they said, H935 בא is come H430 אלהים God H413 אל into H4264 המחנה the camp. H559 ויאמרו And they said, H188 אוי Woe H3588 לנו כי unto us! for H3808 לא there hath not H1961 היתה been H2063 כזאת such a thing H865 אתמול heretofore. H8032 שׁלשׁם׃ heretofore.

8 H188 אוי Woe H4310 לנו מי unto us! who H5337 יצילנו shall deliver H3027 מיד us out of the hand H430 האלהים Gods? H117 האדירים mighty H428 האלה of these H428 אלה these H1992 הם H430 האלהים the Gods H5221 המכים that smote H853 את H4714 מצרים the Egyptians H3605 בכל with all H4347 מכה the plagues H4057 במדבר׃ in the wilderness.

9 H2388 התחזקו Be strong, H1961 והיו and quit H376 לאנשׁים yourselves like men, H6430 פלשׁתים O ye Philistines, H6435 פן H5647 תעבדו that ye be not servants H5680 לעברים unto the Hebrews, H834 כאשׁר as H5647 עבדו they have been H1961 לכם והייתם to you: quit H376 לאנשׁים yourselves like men, H3898 ונלחמתם׃ and fight.

10 H3898 וילחמו fought, H6430 פלשׁתים And the Philistines H5062 וינגף was smitten, H3478 ישׂראל and Israel H5127 וינסו and they fled H376 אישׁ every man H168 לאהליו into his tent: H1961 ותהי and there was H4347 המכה slaughter; H1419 גדולה great H3966 מאד a very H5307 ויפל for there fell H3478 מישׂראל H7970 שׁלשׁים thirty H505 אלף thousand H7273 רגלי׃ footmen.
