  2 H559 Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H5975 ; Stand [H8798]   H2691 in the court H3068 of the LORD'S H1004 house H1696 , and speak [H8765]   H5892 unto all the cities H3063 of Judah H935 , which come [H8802]   H7812 to worship [H8692]   H3068 in the LORD'S H1004 house H1697 , all the words H6680 that I command [H8765]   H1696 thee to speak [H8763]   H1639 unto them; diminish [H8799]   H1697 not a word:
  3 H8085 If so be they will hearken [H8799]   H7725 , and turn [H8799]   H376 every man H7451 from his evil H1870 way H5162 , that I may repent [H8738]   H7451 me of the evil H2803 , which I purpose [H8802]   H6213 to do [H8800]   H6440 unto them because H7455 of the evil H4611 of their doings.
  4 H559 And thou shalt say [H8804]   H559 unto them, Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H8085 ; If ye will not hearken [H8799]   H3212 to me, to walk [H8800]   H8451 in my law H5414 , which I have set [H8804]   H6440 before you,
  5 H8085 To hearken [H8800]   H1697 to the words H5650 of my servants H5030 the prophets H7971 , whom I sent [H8802]   H7925 unto you, both rising up early [H8687]   H7971 , and sending [H8800]   H8085 them, but ye have not hearkened [H8804]  ;
  6 H5414 Then will I make [H8804]   H1004 this house H7887 like Shiloh H5414 , and will make [H8799]   H5892 this city H7045 a curse H1471 to all the nations H776 of the earth.
  7 H3548 So the priests H5030 and the prophets H5971 and all the people H8085 heard [H8799]   H3414 Jeremiah H1696 speaking [H8764]   H1697 these words H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD.
  8 H3414 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah H3615 had made an end [H8763]   H1696 of speaking [H8763]   H3068 all that the LORD H6680 had commanded [H8765]   H1696 him to speak [H8763]   H5971 unto all the people H3548 , that the priests H5030 and the prophets H5971 and all the people H8610 took [H8799]   H559 him, saying [H8800]   H4191 , Thou shalt surely [H8800]   H4191 die [H8799]  .
  9 H5012 Why hast thou prophesied [H8738]   H8034 in the name H3068 of the LORD H559 , saying [H8800]   H1004 , This house H7887 shall be like Shiloh H5892 , and this city H2717 shall be desolate [H8799]   H3427 without an inhabitant [H8802]   H5971 ? And all the people H6950 were gathered [H8735]   H3414 against Jeremiah H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD.
  10 H8269 When the princes H3063 of Judah H8085 heard [H8799]   H1697 these things H5927 , then they came up [H8799]   H4428 from the king's H1004 house H1004 unto the house H3068 of the LORD H3427 , and sat down [H8799]   H6607 in the entry H2319 of the new H8179 gate H3068 of the LORD'S house .
  11 H559 Then spake [H8799]   H3548 the priests H5030 and the prophets H8269 unto the princes H5971 and to all the people H559 , saying [H8800]   H376 , This man H4941 is worthy H4194 to die H5012 ; for he hath prophesied [H8738]   H5892 against this city H8085 , as ye have heard [H8804]   H241 with your ears.
  12 H559 Then spake [H8799]   H3414 Jeremiah H8269 unto all the princes H5971 and to all the people H559 , saying [H8800]   H3068 , The LORD H7971 sent [H8804]   H5012 me to prophesy [H8736]   H1004 against this house H5892 and against this city H1697 all the words H8085 that ye have heard [H8804]  .
  13 H3190 Therefore now amend [H8685]   H1870 your ways H4611 and your doings H8085 , and obey [H8798]   H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H430 your God H3068 ; and the LORD H5162 will repent [H8735]   H7451 him of the evil H1696 that he hath pronounced [H8765]   against you.
  14 H3027 As for me, behold, I am in your hand H6213 : do [H8798]   H5869 with me as seemeth H2896 good H3477 and meet unto you.
  15 H3045 But know [H8799]   H3045 ye for certain [H8800]   H4191 , that if ye put me to death [H8688]   H5414 , ye shall surely bring [H8802]   H5355 innocent H1818 blood H5892 upon yourselves, and upon this city H3427 , and upon the inhabitants [H8802]   H571 thereof: for of a truth H3068 the LORD H7971 hath sent [H8804]   H1696 me unto you to speak [H8763]   H1697 all these words H241 in your ears.
  16 H559 Then said [H8799]   H8269 the princes H5971 and all the people H3548 unto the priests H5030 and to the prophets H376 ; This man H4941 is not worthy H4194 to die H1696 : for he hath spoken [H8765]   H8034 to us in the name H3068 of the LORD H430 our God.
  17 H6965 Then rose up [H8799]   H582 certain H2205 of the elders H776 of the land H559 , and spake [H8799]   H6951 to all the assembly H5971 of the people H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
  18 H4320 Micah H4183 the Morasthite H5012 prophesied [H8737]   H3117 in the days H2396 of Hezekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H559 , and spake [H8799]   H5971 to all the people H3063 of Judah H559 , saying [H8800]   H559 , Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H6726 ; Zion H2790 shall be plowed [H8735]   H7704 like a field H3389 , and Jerusalem H5856 shall become heaps H2022 , and the mountain H1004 of the house H1116 as the high places H3293 of a forest.
  19 H2396 Did Hezekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3063 and all Judah H4191 put him at all [H8687]   H4191 to death [H8689]   H3373 ? did he not fear H3068 the LORD H2470 , and besought [H8762]   H3068 the LORD H6440   H3068 , and the LORD H5162 repented [H8735]   H7451 him of the evil H1696 which he had pronounced [H8765]   H587 against them? Thus H6213 might we procure [H8802]   H1419 great H7451 evil H5315 against our souls.
  20 H376 And there was also a man H5012 that prophesied [H8693]   H8034 in the name H3068 of the LORD H223 , Urijah H1121 the son H8098 of Shemaiah H7157 of Kirjathjearim H5012 , who prophesied [H8735]   H5892 against this city H776 and against this land H1697 according to all the words H3414 of Jeremiah:
  21 H3079 And when Jehoiakim H4428 the king H1368 , with all his mighty men H8269 , and all the princes H8085 , heard [H8799]   H1697 his words H4428 , the king H1245 sought [H8762]   H4191 to put him to death [H8687]   H223 : but when Urijah H8085 heard [H8799]   H3372 it, he was afraid [H8799]   H1272 , and fled [H8799]   H935 , and went [H8799]   H4714 into Egypt;
  22 H3079 And Jehoiakim H4428 the king H7971 sent [H8799]   H582 men H4714 into Egypt H494 , namely, Elnathan H1121 the son H5907 of Achbor H582 , and certain men H4714 with him into Egypt.
  23 H3318 And they fetched forth [H8686]   H223 Urijah H4714 out of Egypt H935 , and brought [H8686]   H3079 him unto Jehoiakim H4428 the king H5221 ; who slew [H8686]   H2719 him with the sword H7993 , and cast [H8686]   H5038 his dead body H6913 into the graves H1121 of the common H5971 people.
  24 H3027 Nevertheless the hand H296 of Ahikam H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan H3414 was with Jeremiah H5414 , that they should not give [H8800]   H3027 him into the hand H5971 of the people H4191 to put him to death [H8687]  .
ERV(i) 1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from the LORD, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD: Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; keep not back a word. 3 It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. 4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD: If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, 5 to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even rising up early and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; 6 then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. 7 And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD. 8 And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, Thou shalt surely die. 9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered unto Jeremiah in the house of the LORD. 10 And when the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’S [house]. 11 Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. 12 Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. 13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. 14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as is good and right in your eyes. 15 Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye shall bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears. 16 Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God. 17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, 18 Micaiah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. 19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and entreat the favour of the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls, 20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah: 21 and when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt: 22 and Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, [namely], Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt: 23 and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. 24 But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
