  36 G1063 For G5023 these things G1096 [G5633] were done, G2443 that G1124 the scripture G4137 [G5686] should be fulfilled, G3747 A bone G846 of him G4937 0 shall G3756 not G4937 [G5691] be broken.
  37 G2532 And G3825 again G2087 another G1124 scripture G3004 [G5719] saith, G3700 [G5695] They shall look G1519 on G3739 him whom G1574 [G5656] they pierced.
  38 G1161 And G3326 after G5023 this G2501 Joseph G575 from G707 Arimathaea, G5607 [G5752] being G3101 a disciple G2424 of Jesus, G1161 but G2928 [G5772] being hidden G1223 for G5401 fear G3588 of the G2453 Judeans, G2065 [G5656] besought G4091 Pilate G2443 that G142 [G5661] he might take away G4983 the body G2424 of Jesus: G2532 and G4091 Pilate G2010 [G5656] gave him leave. G2064 [G5627] He came G3767 therefore, G2532 and G142 [G5656] took G4983 the body G2424 of Jesus.
  39 G1161 And G2064 [G5627] there came G2532 also G3530 Nicodemus, G3588 who G4412 at the first G2064 [G5631] came G4314 to G2424 Jesus G3571 by night, G5342 [G5723] and brought G3395 a mixture G4666 of myrrh G2532 and G250 aloes, G5616 about G1540 an hundred G3046 pound weight.
  40 G3767 Then G2983 [G5627] they took G4983 the body G2424 of Jesus, G2532 and G1210 [G5656] wound G846 it G3608 in linen bands G3326 with G759 the spices, G2531 as G1485 the manner G2453 of the Judeans G2076 [G5748] is G1779 [G5721] to bury.
  41 G1161 Now G1722 in G3588 the G5117 place G3699 where G4717 [G5681] he was impaled G2258 [G5713] there was G2779 a garden; G2532 and G1722 in G3588 the G2779 garden G2537 a new G3419 memorial, G1722 in G3739 which G5087 0 was G3764 0 never G3762 man G3764 yet G5087 [G5681] laid.
  42 G1563 There G5087 [G5656] they laid G2424 Jesus G3767 therefore G1223 because G3588 of the G2453 Judean's G3904 preparation G3754 day; for G3588 the G3419 memorial G2258 [G5713] was G1451 near at hand.

Living_Oracles(i) 36 For these things happened that the scripture might be verified, "None of his bones shall be broken." 37 Again, the scripture elsewhere says, "They shall look on him whom they have pierced." 38 After this, Joseph, the Arimathean, who was a disciple of Jesus, but a concealed disciple for fear of the Jews, asked permission of Pilate to take away the body of Jesus. 39 Nicodemus also, who had formerly repaired to Jesus by night, came, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. 40 These men took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen rollers, with the spices, which is the Jewish manner of embalming. 41 Now, in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, wherein no one had ever yet been laid. 42 There they deposited Jesus, on account of the Jewish preparation, the tomb being near.

And he came and took the body of Jeshu. 39 And Nikodimos also came, he who at first had come to Jeshu by night, and he brought with him a condiment of myrrh and aloes, as a hundred lithreen. 40 And they took the body of Jeshu, and wrapped it in cloths and in balsams, as is the manner of the Jihudoyee to bury. 41 Now in that place where Jeshu was crucified was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre where one yet had not been laid. 42 And they laid there Jeshu, because the shabath was coming in and the sepulchre was near.

And Pilate permitted. And he came, and bore away the body of Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, (he who previously came to Jesus by night,) and he brought with him a compound of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 and they bore away the body of Jesus, and wound it in linens and aromatics, as it is the custom of the Jews to bury. 41 And there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified, and in the garden a new sepulchre in which no person had ever been laid. 42 And there they laid Jesus, because the sabbath had commenced, and because the sepulchre was near.

JPS_ASV_Byz(i) 36 For these things came to pass, that the scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. 38 And after these things Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took away the body of Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb wherein was never man yet laid. 42 There then because of the Jews' Preparation (for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.
Rotherham(i) 36 For these things came to pass, that, the Scripture, might be fulfilled––A bone thereof, shall not be crushed; 37 and, again, a different Scripture, saith––They shall look unto him whom they pierced.
38 But, after these things, Joseph from Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having kept it secret for fear of the Jews, requested Pilate, that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave permission. He came, therefore, and took away his body. 39 There came, moreover, Nicodemus also,––he that came unto him by night at the first,––bearing a roll of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds’ weight. 40 So they received the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen–bandages with the spices,––just as it is, a custom, with the Jews to prepare for burial. 41 Now there was, in the place where he was crucified, a garden; and, in the garden, an unused tomb, wherein, as yet, no one had been laid. 42 So, there, by reason of the preparation of the Jews, because, near, was the tomb, laid they Jesus.
Twentieth_Century(i) 36 For all this took place in fulfillment of the words of Scripture--'Not one of its bones shall be broken.' 37 And there is another passage which says--'They will look upon him whom they pierced.' 38 After this, Joseph of Ramah, a disciple of Jesus--but a secret one, owing to his fear of the Jews--begged Pilate's permission to remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him leave; so Joseph went and removed the body. 39 Nicodemus, too--the man who had formerly visited Jesus by night--came with a roll of myrrh and aloes, weighing nearly a hundred pounds. 40 They took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen with the spices, according to the Jewish mode of burial. 41 At the place where Jesus had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a newly-made tomb in which no one had ever been laid. 42 And so, because of its being the Preparation Day, and as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
Godbey(i) 36 For these things took place, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken. 37 Again another Scripture says, They shall look on Him, whom they have pierced. 38 After these things, Joseph from Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden on account of the fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted. Then he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 And Nicodemus also, the one having come at first to Jesus by night, came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they received the body of Jesus, and wrapped it in linens with aromatics, as is the custom to the Jews to embalm. 41 And there was in the place where He was crucified, a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, in which no one was ever yet placed. 42 Then on account of the Preparation of the Jews (because the sepulcher was near), they placed Jesus there.
WNT(i) 36 For all this took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled which declares, "NOT ONE OF HIS BONES SHALL BE BROKEN." 37 And again another Scripture says, "THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY HAVE PIERCED." 38 After this, Joseph of Arimathaea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but for fear of the Jews a secret disciple, asked Pilate's permission to carry away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him leave. So he came and removed the body. 39 Nicodemus too--he who at first had visited Jesus by night--came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, in weight about seventy or eighty pounds. 40 Taking down the body they wrapped it in linen cloths along with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish mode of preparing for burial. 41 There was a garden at the place where Jesus had been crucified, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. 42 Therefore, because it was the day of Preparation for the Jewish Passover, and the tomb was close at hand, they put Jesus there.

Moffatt(i) 36 For this took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him will be broken. 37 And another scripture also says, They shall look on him whom they have impaled. 38 After this, Joseph of Arimathaea, a disciple of Jesus but a secret disciple — for fear of the Jews — asked Pilate for permission to remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate allowed him. So he went and removed the body, 39 accompanied by Nicodemus (he who had first come to Jesus by night) who brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds of it; 40 they took and wrapped up the body of Jesus in the spices and in bandages, according to the Jewish custom of burial. 41 Now at the spot where he had been crucified there was an orchard, and in the orchard a new tomb where no one had yet been laid; 42 so they put Jesus there, since it was the Jewish day of Preparation, seeing that the tomb was close by.
Goodspeed(i) 36 For this happened to fulfil what the Scripture says: "Not one of its bones will be broken." 37 Moreover, it says in another place, "They shall look at the man whom they pierced." 38 After this, Joseph, of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one, because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him remove Jesus' body, and Pilate gave him permission. So Joseph went and took the body down. 39 And Nicodemus also, who had first come to Jesus at night, went, taking a roll of myrrh and aloes weighing about a hundred pounds. 40 So they took Jesus' body, and wrapped it with the spices in bandages, in the Jewish way of preparing bodies for burial. 41 There was a garden at the place where Jesus had been crucified, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So because it was the Jewish Preparation day, and the tomb was close by, they put Jesus there.

And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, who at first had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pints. 40 So they took away the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial. 41 Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no man was yet laid. 42 So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.
CLV(i) 36 For these things occurred that the scripture may be fulfilled, "A bone of it shall not be crushed." 37 And again, a different scripture is saying, they shall see Him whom they stab." 38 Now after these things Joseph from Arimathea (being a disciple of Jesus, yet hidden because of fear of the Jews) asks Pilate that he should be taking away the body of Jesus. And Pilate permits him. He came, then, and takes away His body." 39 Now Nicodemus also came (who came to Him at night at first), bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds troy." 40 They got the body of Jesus, then, and they bind it in swathings with the spices, according as the custom of the Jews is to bury." 41 Now there was in the place where He was crucified, a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one has been placed as yet." 42 There, then, because of the preparation of the Jews, seeing that the tomb was near, they place Jesus."
Williams(i) 36 For this took place that this Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of His will be broken." 37 And again another Scripture says, "They shall look at Him whom they pierced." 38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked permission of Pilate to remove the body of Jesus, and Pilate granted it. BBE(i) 36 These things came about so that the Writings might be true, No bone of his body will be broken. 37 And again another verse says, They will see him who was wounded by their spears. 38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, made a request to Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate said he might do so. So he went and took away his body. 39 And Nicodemus came he who had first come to Jesus by night with a roll of myrrh and aloes mixed, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, folding linen about it with the spices, as is the way of the Jews when they put the dead to rest. 41 Now there was a garden near the cross, and in the garden a new place for the dead in which no man had ever been put. 42 So they put Jesus there, because it was the Jews' day of getting ready for the Passover, and the place was near.

LITV(i) 36 For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of Him shall be broken." Ex. 12:46; Psa. 34:20 37 And again, a different Scripture says, "They shall look at Him whom they have pierced." Zech. 12:10 38 And after these things, Joseph from Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed because of fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Then he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 And Nicodemus also came, the one coming at first to Jesus by night, bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linens, with the spices, as is usual with the Jews in burying. 41 And there was a garden in the place where He was crucified, and a new tomb in the garden, in which no one yet ever had been placed. 42 There, then, because of the Preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they put Jesus.
ECB(i) 36 For these became to fulfill/shalam the scripture, No bone of him shatters. 37 And again another scripture words, They see him whom they pierce. Psalm 34:20, Zechar Yah 12:10 38
THE BODY OF YAH SHUA TAKEN
And after this, Yoseph of Ramah, being a disciple of Yah Shua, but for awe of the Yah Hudiym, secretly asks of Pilatos to take the body of Yah Shua: and Pilatos allows him. So he comes, and takes the body of Yah Shua: 39 and Nicodemus also comes - who at the first came to Yah Shua by night and brings a mixture of myrrh and aloes - about a hundred litra. 40 So they take the body of Yah Shua and bind it in linen cloths with the aromatics, exactly as the custom of the Yah Hudiym to embalm. 41
YAH SHUA ENTOMBED
And there is a garden in the place he was staked; and in the garden a new tomb wherein no one had ever been placed: 42 so they place Yah Shua there because of the Yah Hudiy preparation day; for the tomb is near at hand.
AUV(i) 36 For these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled [Ex. 12:46], “Not a [single] bone of his will be broken.” 37 And another Scripture says [Zech. 12:10], “People will look at him whom they [had] pierced.” 38 After this happened, one of Jesus’ disciples (but secretly, for fear of the Jews), named Joseph from Arimathaea, asked Pilate if he could remove Jesus’ body [from the cross]. Pilate granted him permission, so he went and removed the body from the cross. 39 Nicodemus, the man who first came to Jesus one night, also went with him [i.e., to claim Jesus’ body]. He brought about a seventy-five pound mixture of myrrh and aloes [i.e., aromatic spices used for embalming]. 40 So, they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it in linen cloths, with spices, according to customary Jewish burial practices. 41 Now there was an [olive] orchard at the place where Jesus was crucified. And in the orchard there was a new grave site [i.e., a cave-like tomb] where no one had ever been buried. 42 So, they placed Jesus’ body there, for it was the Day of Preparation and that was the closest grave site. [Note: Since this was the day before the Passover Festival, and the next day was also the regular weekly Sabbath, they had to bury the body before sundown to comply with Jewish restrictions against working on a Sabbath day].

ACV(i) 36 For these things happened so that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him will be broken. 37 And again another scripture says, They will look toward whom they pierced. 38 And after these things Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might remove the body of Jesus, and Pilate allowed him. RYLT(i) 36 For these things came to pass, that the Writing may be fulfilled, 'A bone of him shall not be broken;' 37 and again another Writing said, 'They shall look to him whom they did pierce.' 38 And after these things did Joseph of Arimathea -- being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed, through the fear of the Jews -- ask of Pilate, that he may take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave leave; he came, therefore, and took away the body of Jesus, 39 and Nicodemus also came -- who came unto Jesus by night at the first -- bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, as it were, a hundred pounds. 40 They took, therefore, the body of Jesus, and bound it with linen clothes with the spices, according as it was the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial; 41 and there was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one was yet laid; 42 there, therefore, because of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they laid Jesus.
EJ2000(i) 36 For these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced. 38 ¶ After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus. 39 Then Nicodemus came also, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about one hundred pounds. 40 And they took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which no one had yet been laid. 42 Therefore they laid Jesus there because of the Jews’ preparation day, for the sepulchre was near.
CAB(i) 36 For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, "Not a bone of His shall be broken." 37 And again another Scripture says, "They shall look at Him whom they pierced." 38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus. 39 And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen strips with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been buried. 42 So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews' Preparation Day, because the tomb was near.
WPNT(i) 36 Because these things happened so that the Scripture should be fulfilled: “Not a bone of His will be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says: “They will look on Him whom they pierced.” 38 After these things Joseph, the one from Arimathea (being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews), requested Pilate that he might remove the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave permission. So he came and removed Jesus’ body. 39 Now Nicodemus also came (the one who at first came to Jesus by night), bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it in linen strips, with the aromatic spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now at the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been buried. 42 So that’s where they put Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, since the tomb was nearby.
JMNT(i) 36 for these things came to be (occurred; happened) so that the Scripture could be fulfilled, "A bone belonging to Him will not proceed in being worn down, crushed or broken," [Ps. 34:20; Ex. 12:46; Nu. 9:12] 37 and again, a different Scripture says, "They will proceed seeing, catching sight, and perceiving into Whom they deeply pierce forth (or: lance from out of a stabbing)." [Zech. 12:10] 38 Now after these things, Joseph from Arimathea – being a disciple of Jesus, yet being one having been hidden because of the fear of the Jews (= religious authorities) – made petition of Pilate, to the end that he could lift up and carry away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Therefore they [other MSS: he] came (or: went) and carried away His body. 39 Moreover, Nicodemus also came – the one coming to Him by night, at the first – bringing a mixture [other MSS: roll, or, package] of myrrh and aloes, about one hundred pounds [of it]. 40 They then took the body of Jesus and bound (or: tied) it in (or: with) swaths of linen bandages, along with spices and aromatic oils – according as is the custom for (or: with; among) the Jews to normally prepare [one] for burial. 41 Now within the area where He was crucified there was a garden, and within the garden a new memorial tomb within which, as yet, no one had been placed. 42 There, then, they placed Jesus, because the memorial tomb was nearby – on account of the Preparation pertaining to the Jews' [Feast; festival; high sabbath].
NSB(i) 36 These things came to pass in order that the scripture might be fulfilled: A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture said: They should look on him whom they pierced. 38 Joseph of Arimathaea was a disciple of Jesus. He approached Pilate secretly for fear of the Jews. He asked Pilate for permission to take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission. So he took the body away. 39 Nicodemus also came with a mixture of myrrh and about a hundred pounds of aloes. Nicodemus is the one who came to Jesus at night. 40 They prepared the body of Jesus for burial. They bound it in linen cloths with spices. This was the custom of the Jews. 41 There was a garden at the place where he was impaled. It contained a new tomb where no one had been buried. 42 They laid Jesus there because the Jews Preparation was close at hand.
ISV(i) 36 because these things happened so that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “None of his bones will be broken.”
37 In addition, another passage of Scripture says, “They will look on the one whom they pierced.”
38 Jesus is Buried
Later on, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (though a secret one because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, and he came and removed his body. 39 Nicodemus, the man who had first come to Jesus at night, also arrived, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about 100 litra. 40 They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths along with spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews. 41 A garden was located in the place where he was crucified, and in that garden was a new tomb in which no one had yet been placed. 42 Because it was the Jewish Preparation Day, and because the tomb was nearby, they put Jesus there.

And Pilate allowed it,* so he came and took away his body. 39 And Nicodemus—the one who had come to him formerly at night—also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about a hundred pounds.* 40 So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in strips of linen cloth with the fragrant spices, as is the Jews' custom to prepare for burial. 41 Now there was a garden at the place where he was crucified, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one was yet buried. 42 So there, on account of the day of preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was close by, they buried Jesus.

Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed the body of Jesus. 39 Nicodemus, who had previously come to Jesus at night, also brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom. 41 Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 And because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and the tomb was nearby, they placed Jesus there.
MLV(i) 36 For these things happened in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, ‘A bone of him will not be crushed.’ 37 And again a different Scripture says, ‘They will be looking at the one whom they stabbed.’
38 After these things, Joseph from Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate in order that he might take away the body of Jesus and Pilate permitted him. Therefore he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 Now Nicodemus also came, he who came to Jesus the first time by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, approximately a hundred pounds of it. 40 Therefore they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen-strips with the spices, just-as the custom of the Jews is to bury one. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one was yet laid. 42 Therefore they laid Jesus there because of the Jews’Preparation, and because the tomb was near.

I dopusti mu Pilat. Josip dakle ode i skine Isusovo tijelo.
I dopustil Pilát. A on přišed, i sňal tělo Ježíšovo.

Li do venis kaj forprenis lian korpon.
37 Ja taas toinen kirjoitus sanoo: he saavat nähdä, ketä he ovat pistäneet.

Pilat ba l' pèmisyon an. Li te pote senkant lit konsa yon odè yo rele lami melanje ak lalwa nan lwil. 40 Yo tou de rive, yo pran Jezi. Pandan yo t'ap vlope l' nan bann twal fin yo, yo mete lwil santi bon sou li jan jwif yo te konn fè lè y'ap antere moun. 41 Kote yo te kloure Jezi sou kwa a te gen yon jaden. Nan jaden an te gen yon kavo tou nèf.

Pilotas leido.
37 I zasię drugie Pismo mówi: Ujrzą, kogo przebodli. I pozwolił Piłat. Szedł tedy i zdjął ciało Jezusowe.

Pilat i -a dat voie.
