Contudo, ele se assenhoreará de todo o meu trabalho em que me afadiguei, e em que me houve sabiamente debaixo do sol; também isso é vaidade. ²⁰ Pelo que eu me volvi e entreguei o meu coração ao desespero no tocante a todo o trabalho em que me afadigara debaixo do sol. ²¹ Porque há homem cujo trabalho é feito com sabedoria, e ciência, e destreza; contudo, deixará o fruto do seu labor para ser porção de quem não trabalhou nele; também isso é vaidade e um grande mal.

Romanian⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁸ Mi-am urît pînă şi toată munca pe care am făcut -o supt soare, muncă pe care o las omului care vine după mine, ca să se bucure de ea. ¹⁹ Şi cine ştie dacă va fi înţelept sau nebun? Şi totuş el va fi stăpîn pe toată munca mea, pe care am agonisit -o cu trudă şi înţelepciune supt soare. Şi aceasta este o deşertăciune. ²⁰ Am ajuns pînă acolo că m'a apucat o mare desnădejde de toată munca pe care am făcut -o supt soare. ²¹ Căci este cîte un om care a muncit cu înţelepciune, cu pricepere şi cu izbîndă, şi lasă rodul muncii lui unui om care nu s'a ostenit deloc cu ea. Şi aceasta este o deşertăciune şi un mare rău.

Ukrainian⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁸ І зненавидів я ввесь свій труд, що під сонцем трудився я був, бо його позоставлю людині, що буде вона по мені, ¹⁹ а хто знає, чи мудрий той буде чи нерозумний, хто запанує над цілим трудом моїм, над яким я трудився й змудрів був під сонцем? Це марнота також... ²⁰ І я обернувся чинити, щоб серце моє прийшло в розпач від усього труда, що чинив я під сонцем... ²¹ Бо буває людина, що трудиться з мудрістю, зо знанням та із хистом, та все полишає на долю людині, яка не трудилася в тому: Марнота й оце й зло велике!
