1 Kings 2:13-25 And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon . And she said , Comest thou peaceably ? And he said , Peaceably.

14 H559 He said [H8799] H1697 moreover, I have somewhat to say H559 unto thee. And she said [H8799] H1696 , Say on [H8761] .

15 H559 And he said [H8799] H3045 , Thou knowest [H8804] H4410 that the kingdom H3478 was mine, and that all Israel H7760 set [H8804] H6440 their faces H4427 on me, that I should reign [H8800] H4410 : howbeit the kingdom H5437 is turned about [H8735] H251 , and is become my brother's H3068 : for it was his from the LORD.

16 H7592 And now I ask [H8802] H259 one H7596 petition H7725 of thee, deny [H8686] H6440 me H559 not. And she said [H8799] H1696 unto him, Say on [H8761] .

17 H559 And he said [H8799] H559 , Speak [H8798] H8010 , I pray thee, unto Solomon H4428 the king H7725 , (for he will not say H6440 thee H7725 nay [H8686] H5414 ,) that he give [H8799] H49 me Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H802 to wife.

18 H1339 And Bathsheba H559 said [H8799] H2896 , Well H1696 ; I will speak [H8762] H4428 for thee unto the king.

19 H1339 Bathsheba H935 therefore went [H8799] H4428 unto king H8010 Solomon H1696 , to speak [H8763] H138 unto him for Adonijah H4428 . And the king H6965 rose up [H8799] H7125 to meet [H8800] H7812 her, and bowed [H8691] H3427 himself unto her, and sat down [H8799] H3678 on his throne H3678 , and caused a seat H7760 to be set [H8799] H4428 for the king's H517 mother H3427 ; and she sat [H8799] H3225 on his right hand.

20 H559 Then she said [H8799] H7592 , I desire [H8802] H259 one H6996 small H7596 petition H7725 of thee; I pray thee, say H6440 me H7725 not nay [H8686] H4428 . And the king H559 said [H8799] H7592 unto her, Ask on [H8798] H517 , my mother H7725 : for I will not say H6440 thee H7725 nay [H8686] .

21 H559 And she said [H8799] H49 , Let Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H5414 be given [H8714] H138 to Adonijah H251 thy brother H802 to wife.

22 H4428 And king H8010 Solomon H6030 answered [H8799] H559 and said [H8799] H517 unto his mother H7592 , And why dost thou ask [H8802] H49 Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H138 for Adonijah H7592 ? ask [H8798] H4410 for him the kingdom H1419 also; for he is mine elder H251 brother H54 ; even for him, and for Abiathar H3548 the priest H3097 , and for Joab H1121 the son H6870 of Zeruiah.

23 H4428 Then king H8010 Solomon H7650 sware [H8735] H3068 by the LORD H559 , saying [H8800] H430 , God H6213 do [H8799] H3254 so to me, and more also [H8686] H138 , if Adonijah H1696 have not spoken [H8765] H1697 this word H5315 against his own life.

24 H3068 Now therefore, as the LORD H2416 liveth H3559 , which hath established [H8689] H3427 me, and set [H8686] H3678 me on the throne H1732 of David H1 my father H6213 , and who hath made [H8804] H1004 me an house H1696 , as he promised [H8765] H138 , Adonijah H4191 shall be put to death [H8714] H3117 this day.

25 H4428 And king H8010 Solomon H7971 sent [H8799] H3027 by the hand H1141 of Benaiah H1121 the son H3077 of Jehoiada H6293 ; and he fell [H8799] H4191 upon him that he died [H8799] .
