1 Kings 2:13-25

  13 H138 And Adonijah H1121 the son H2294 of Haggith H935 [H8799] came H1339 to Bathsheba H517 the mother H8010 of Solomon. H559 [H8799] And she said, H935 [H8800] Comest H7965 thou peaceably? H559 [H8799] And he said, H7965 Peaceably.

  14 H559 [H8799] He said H1697 moreover, I have somewhat to say H559 [H8799] to thee. And she said, H1696 [H8761] Say on.

  15 H559 [H8799] And he said, H3045 [H8804] Thou knowest H4410 that the kingdom H3478 was mine, and that all Israel H7760 [H8804] set H6440 their faces H4427 [H8800] on me, that I should reign: H4410 but the kingdom H5437 [H8735] is turned about, H251 and hath become my brother's: H3068 for it was his from the LORD.

  16 H7592 [H8802] And now I ask H259 one H7596 petition H7725 [H8686] of thee, deny H6440 me H559 [H8799] not. And she said H1696 [H8761] to him, Say on.

  17 H559 [H8799] And he said, H559 [H8798] Speak, H8010 I pray thee, to Solomon H4428 the king, H7725 0 (for he will not say H6440 to thee H7725 [H8686] no, H5414 [H8799] ) that he give H49 me Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H802 for a wife.

  18 H1339 And Bathsheba H559 [H8799] said, H2896 Well; H1696 [H8762] I will speak H4428 for thee to the king.

  19 H1339 Bathsheba H935 [H8799] therefore went H4428 to king H8010 Solomon, H1696 [H8763] to speak H138 to him for Adonijah. H4428 And the king H6965 [H8799] rose up H7125 [H8800] to meet H7812 [H8691] her, and bowed H3427 [H8799] himself to her, and sat down H3678 on his throne, H3678 and caused a seat H7760 [H8799] to be set H4428 for the king's H517 mother; H3427 [H8799] and she sat H3225 on his right hand.

  20 H559 [H8799] Then she said, H7592 [H8802] I desire H259 one H6996 small H7596 petition H7725 0 of thee; I pray thee, deny H6440 me H7725 [H8686] not. H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H7592 [H8798] to her, Ask on, H517 my mother: H7725 [H8686] for I will not deny H6440 thee.

  21 H559 [H8799] And she said, H49 Let Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H5414 [H8714] be given H138 to Adonijah H251 thy brother H802 for a wife.

  22 H4428 And king H8010 Solomon H6030 [H8799] answered H559 [H8799] and said H517 to his mother, H7592 [H8802] And why dost thou ask H49 Abishag H7767 the Shunammite H138 for Adonijah? H7592 [H8798] ask H4410 for him the kingdom H1419 also; for he is my elder H251 brother; H54 even for him, and for Abiathar H3548 the priest, H3097 and for Joab H1121 the son H6870 of Zeruiah.

  23 H4428 Then king H8010 Solomon H7650 [H8735] swore H3068 by the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying, H430 God H6213 [H8799] do H3254 [H8686] so to me, and more also, H138 if Adonijah H1696 [H8765] hath not spoken H1697 this word H5315 against his own life.

  24 H3068 Now therefore, as the LORD H2416 liveth, H3559 [H8689] who hath established H3427 [H8686] me, and set H3678 me on the throne H1732 of David H1 my father, H6213 [H8804] and who hath made H1004 me an house, H1696 [H8765] as he promised, H138 Adonijah H4191 [H8714] shall be put to death H3117 this day.

  25 H4428 And king H8010 Solomon H7971 [H8799] sent H3027 by the hand H1141 of Benaiah H1121 the son H3077 of Jehoiada; H6293 [H8799] and he fell H4191 [H8799] upon him that he died.
