H1248 What, my son H1248 ? and what, the son H990 of my womb H1248 ? and what, the son H5088 of my vows?
H5414 Give [H8799]   H2428 not thy strength H802 unto women H1870 , nor thy ways H4229 to that which destroyeth [H8687]   H4428 kings.
H4428 It is not for kings H3927 , O Lemuel H4428 , it is not for kings H8354 to drink [H8800]   H3196 wine H335 ; nor for [H8675]   H176   H7336 princes [H8802]   H7941 strong drink:
H8354 Lest they drink [H8799]   H7911 , and forget [H8799]   H2710 the law [H8794]   H8138 , and pervert [H8762]   H1779 the judgment H1121 of any of the afflicted H6040  .
H5414 Give [H8798]   H7941 strong drink H6 unto him that is ready to perish [H8802]   H3196 , and wine H4751 unto those that be of heavy H5315 hearts.
H8354 Let him drink [H8799]   H7911 , and forget [H8799]   H7389 his poverty H2142 , and remember [H8799]   H5999 his misery no more.
H6605 Open [H8798]   H6310 thy mouth H483 for the dumb H1779 in the cause H1121 of all such as are appointed H2475 to destruction.
H6605 Open [H8798]   H6310 thy mouth H8199 , judge [H8798]   H6664 righteously H1777 , and plead [H8798]   H6041 the cause of the poor H34 and needy.
H4672 Who can find [H8799]   H2428 a virtuous H802 woman H4377 ? for her price H7350 is far H6443 above rubies.
H3820 The heart H1167 of her husband H982 doth safely trust [H8804]   H2637 in her, so that he shall have no need [H8799]   H7998 of spoil.
H1580 She will do [H8804]   H2896 him good H7451 and not evil H3117 all the days H2416 of her life.
H1875 She seeketh [H8804]   H6785 wool H6593 , and flax H6213 , and worketh [H8799]   H2656 willingly H3709 with her hands.
H5503 She is like the merchants [H8802]   H591 ' ships H935 ; she bringeth [H8686]   H3899 her food H4801 from afar.
H6965 She riseth [H8799]   H3915 also while it is yet night H5414 , and giveth [H8799]   H2964 meat H1004 to her household H2706 , and a portion H5291 to her maidens.
H2161 She considereth [H8804]   H7704 a field H3947 , and buyeth [H8799]   H6529 it: with the fruit H3709 of her hands H5193 she planteth [H8804]   H3754 a vineyard.
H2296 She girdeth [H8804]   H4975 her loins H5797 with strength H553 , and strengtheneth [H8762]   H2220 her arms.
H2938 She perceiveth [H8804]   H5504 that her merchandise H2896 is good H5216 : her candle H3518 goeth not out [H8799]   H3915 by night.
H7971 She layeth [H8765]   H3027 her hands H3601 to the spindle H3709 , and her hands H8551 hold [H8804]   H6418 the distaff.
H6566 She stretcheth out [H8804]   H3709 her hand H6041 to the poor H7971 ; yea, she reacheth forth [H8765]   H3027 her hands H34 to the needy.
H3372 She is not afraid [H8799]   H7950 of the snow H1004 for her household H1004 : for all her household H3847 are clothed [H8803]   H8144 with scarlet.
H6213 She maketh [H8804]   H4765 herself coverings of tapestry H3830 ; her clothing H8336 is silk H713 and purple.
H1167 Her husband H3045 is known [H8737]   H8179 in the gates H3427 , when he sitteth [H8800]   H2205 among the elders H776 of the land.
H6213 She maketh [H8804]   H5466 fine linen H4376 , and selleth [H8799]   H5414 it; and delivereth [H8804]   H2289 girdles H3669 unto the merchant.
H5797 Strength H1926 and honour H3830 are her clothing H7832 ; and she shall rejoice [H8799]   H3117 in time H314 to come.
H6605 She openeth [H8804]   H6310 her mouth H2451 with wisdom H3956 ; and in her tongue H8451 is the law H2617 of kindness.
H6822 She looketh well [H8802]   H1979 to the ways [H8675]   H1979   H1004 of her household H398 , and eateth [H8799]   H3899 not the bread H6104 of idleness.
H1121 Her children H6965 arise up [H8804]   H833 , and call her blessed [H8762]   H1167 ; her husband H1984 also, and he praiseth [H8762]   her.
H7227 Many H1323 daughters H6213 have done [H8804]   H2428 virtuously H5927 , but thou excellest [H8804]   them all.
H2580 Favour H8267 is deceitful H3308 , and beauty H1892 is vain H802 : but a woman H3373 that feareth H3068 the LORD H1984 , she shall be praised [H8691]  .
H5414 Give [H8798]   H6529 her of the fruit H3027 of her hands H4639 ; and let her own works H1984 praise [H8762]   H8179 her in the gates.
ERV(i) 1 The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him. 2 What, my son? and what, O son of my womb, and what, O son of my vows? 3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes [to say], Where is strong drink? 5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any that is afflicted. 6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto the bitter in soul: 7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. 8 Open thy mouth for the dumb, in the cause of all such as are left desolate. 9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and minister judgment to the poor and needy. 10 A virtuous woman who can find? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall have no lack of gain. 12 She doeth him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchant-ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and their task to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and maketh strong her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is profitable: her lamp goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle. 20 She spreadeth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh for herself carpets of tapestry; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh linen garments and selleth them; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and dignity are her clothing; and she laugheth at the time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and the law of kindness is on her tongue. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her, [saying]: 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: [but] a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her works praise her in the gates.
