Leviticus 17 And the LORD spake unto Moses , saying ,

1 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H1696 Speak [H8761] H175 unto Aaron H1121 , and unto his sons H1121 , and unto all the children H3478 of Israel H559 , and say [H8804] H1697 unto them; This is the thing H3068 which the LORD H6680 hath commanded [H8765] H559 , saying [H8800] ,

3 H376 What H376 man H1004 soever there be of the house H3478 of Israel H7819 , that killeth [H8799] H7794 an ox H3775 , or lamb H5795 , or goat H4264 , in the camp H7819 , or that killeth [H8799] H2351 it out H4264 of the camp,

4 H935 And bringeth [H8689] H6607 it not unto the door H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H7126 , to offer [H8687] H7133 an offering H3068 unto the LORD H6440 before H4908 the tabernacle H3068 of the LORD H1818 ; blood H2803 shall be imputed [H8735] H376 unto that man H8210 ; he hath shed [H8804] H1818 blood H376 ; and that man H3772 shall be cut off [H8738] H7130 from among H5971 his people:

5 H1121 To the end that the children H3478 of Israel H935 may bring [H8686] H2077 their sacrifices H2076 , which they offer [H8802] H6440 in the open H7704 field H935 , even that they may bring [H8689] H3068 them unto the LORD H6607 , unto the door H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H3548 , unto the priest H2076 , and offer [H8804] H8002 them for peace H2077 offerings H3068 unto the LORD.

6 H3548 And the priest H2236 shall sprinkle [H8804] H1818 the blood H4196 upon the altar H3068 of the LORD H6607 at the door H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6999 , and burn [H8689] H2459 the fat H5207 for a sweet H7381 savour H3068 unto the LORD.

7 H2076 And they shall no more offer [H8799] H2077 their sacrifices H8163 unto devils H310 , after H2181 whom they have gone a whoring [H8802] H2708 . This shall be a statute H5769 for ever H1755 unto them throughout their generations.

8 H559 And thou shalt say [H8799] H376 unto them, Whatsoever man H1004 there be of the house H3478 of Israel H1616 , or of the strangers H1481 which sojourn [H8799] H8432 among H5927 you, that offereth [H8686] H5930 a burnt offering H2077 or sacrifice,

9 H935 And bringeth [H8686] H6607 it not unto the door H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6213 , to offer [H8800] H3068 it unto the LORD H376 ; even that man H3772 shall be cut off [H8738] H5971 from among his people.

10 H376 And whatsoever man H1004 there be of the house H3478 of Israel H1616 , or of the strangers H1481 that sojourn [H8802] H8432 among H398 you, that eateth [H8799] H1818 any manner of blood H5414 ; I will even set [H8804] H6440 my face H5315 against that soul H398 that eateth [H8802] H1818 blood H3772 , and will cut him off [H8689] H7130 from among H5971 his people.

11 H5315 For the life H1320 of the flesh H1818 is in the blood H5414 : and I have given [H8804] H4196 it to you upon the altar H3722 to make an atonement [H8763] H5315 for your souls H1818 : for it is the blood H3722 that maketh an atonement [H8762] H5315 for the soul.

12 H559 Therefore I said [H8804] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H5315 , No soul H398 of you shall eat [H8799] H1818 blood H1616 , neither shall any stranger H1481 that sojourneth [H8802] H8432 among H398 you eat [H8799] H1818 blood.

13 H376 And whatsoever man H1121 there be of the children H3478 of Israel H1616 , or of the strangers H1481 that sojourn [H8802] H8432 among H6679 you, which hunteth [H8799] H6718 and catcheth H2416 any beast H5775 or fowl H398 that may be eaten [H8735] H8210 ; he shall even pour [H8804] H1818 out the blood H3680 thereof, and cover [H8765] H6083 it with dust.

14 H5315 For it is the life H1320 of all flesh H1818 ; the blood H5315 of it is for the life H559 thereof: therefore I said [H8799] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H398 , Ye shall eat [H8799] H1818 the blood H1320 of no manner of flesh H5315 : for the life H1320 of all flesh H1818 is the blood H398 thereof: whosoever eateth [H8802] H3772 it shall be cut off [H8735] .

15 H5315 And every soul H398 that eateth [H8799] H5038 that which died H2966 of itself, or that which was torn H249 with beasts, whether it be one of your own country H1616 , or a stranger H3526 , he shall both wash [H8765] H899 his clothes H7364 , and bathe [H8804] H4325 himself in water H2930 , and be unclean [H8804] H6153 until the even H2891 : then shall he be clean [H8804] .

16 H3526 But if he wash [H8762] H7364 them not, nor bathe [H8799] H1320 his flesh H5375 ; then he shall bear [H8804] H5771 his iniquity.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ² Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, ³ What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it without the camp, ⁴ and hath not brought it unto the door of the tent of meeting, to offer it as an oblation unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD: blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: ⁵ To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they sacrifice in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tent of meeting, unto the priest, and sacrifice them for sacrifices of peace offerings unto the LORD. ⁶ And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD. ⁷ And they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices unto the he-goats, after whom they go a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations. ⁸ And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice, ⁹ and bringeth it not unto the door of the tent of meeting, to sacrifice it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from his people. ¹⁰ And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that eateth any manner of blood; I will set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. ¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life. ¹² Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. ¹³ And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, which taketh in hunting any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. ¹⁴ For as to the life of all flesh, the blood thereof is [all one] with the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. ¹⁵ And every soul that eateth that which dieth of itself, or that which is torn of beasts, whether he be homeborn or a stranger, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean. ¹⁶ But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.
