2 Kings 18:19-37 And Rab–shakeh said unto them, Speak you now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this where you trust?

19 H7262 And Rab–shakeh H559 said H559 unto them, Speak H2396 you now to Hezekiah, H559 Thus says H1419 the great H4428 king, H4428 the king H804 of Assyria, H986 What confidence H982 is this where you trust?

20 H559 You say, H8193 (but they are but vain H1697 words,) H6098 I have counsel H1369 and strength H4421 for the war. H982 Now on whom do you trust, H4775 that you rebellest against me?

21 H982 Now, behold, you trust H4938 upon the staff H7533 of this bruised H7070 reed, H4714 even upon Egypt, H376 on which if a man H5564 lean, H935 it will go H3709 into his hand, H5344 and pierce H6547 it: so is Pharaoh H4428 king H4714 of Egypt H982 unto all that trust on him.

22 H559 But if you say H982 unto me, We trust H3068 in the Lord H430 our God: H1116 is not that he, whose high places H4196 and whose altars H2396 Hezekiah H5493 has taken away, H559 and has said H3063 to Judah H3389 and Jerusalem, H7812 You shall worship H6440 before H4196 this altar H3389 in Jerusalem?

23 H6148 Now therefore, I pray you, give pledges H113 to my lord H4428 the king H804 of Assyria, H5414 and I will deliver H505 you two thousand H5483 horses, H3201 if you be able H5414 on your part to set H7392 riders upon them.

24 H7725 How then will you turn away H6440 the face H259 of one H6346 captain H6996 of the least H113 of my master's H5650 servants, H982 and put your trust H4714 on Egypt H7393 for chariots H6571 and for horsemen?

25 H5927 Am I now come up H1107 without H3068 the Lord H4725 against this place H7843 to destroy H3068 it? The Lord H559 said H5927 to me, Go up H776 against this land, H7843 and destroy it.

26 H559 Then said H471 Eliakim H1121 the son H2518 of Hilkiah, H7644 and Shebna, H3098 and Joah, H7262 unto Rab–shakeh, H1696 Speak, H5650 I pray you, to your servants H762 in the Syrian language; H8085 for we understand H1696 it: and talk H3066 not with us in the Jews' language H241 in the ears H5971 of the people H2346 that are on the wall.

27 H7262 But Rab–shakeh H559 said H113 unto them, Has my master H7971 sent H113 me to your master, H1696 and to you, to speak H1697 these words? H582 has he not sent me to the men H3427 which sit H2346 on the wall, H398 that they may eat H6675 their own dung, H8354 and drink H7272 their own piss with you?

28 H7262 Then Rab–shakeh H5975 stood H7121 and cried H1419 with a loud H6963 voice H3066 in the Jews' language, H1696 and spoke, H559 saying, H8085 Hear H1697 the word H1419 of the great H4428 king, H4428 the king H804 of Assyria:

29 H559 Thus says H4428 the king, H2396 Let not Hezekiah H5377 deceive H3201 you: for he shall not be able H5337 to deliver H3027 you out of his hand:

30 H2396 Neither let Hezekiah H982 make you trust H3068 in the Lord, H559 saying, H3068 The Lord H5337 will surely H5337 deliver H5892 us, and this city H5414 shall not be delivered H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria.

31 H8085 Listen H2396 not to Hezekiah: H559 for thus says H4428 the king H804 of Assyria, H6213 Make H1293 a agreement with me by a present, H3318 and come out H398 to me, and then eat H376 you every man H1612 of his own vine, H376 and every one H8384 of his fig tree, H8354 and drink H376 you every one H4325 the waters H953 of his cistern:

32 H935 Until I come H3947 and take you away H776 to a land H776 like your own land, H776 a land H1715 of corn H8492 and wine, H776 a land H3899 of bread H3754 and vineyards, H776 a land H3323 of oil H2132 olive H1706 and of honey, H2421 that you may live, H4191 and not die: H8085 and listen H2396 not unto Hezekiah, H5496 when he persuadeth H559 you, saying, H3068 The Lord H5337 will deliver us.

33 H376 Has any H430 of the gods H1471 of the nations H5337 delivered H5337 at all H776 his land H3027 out of the hand H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria?

34 H430 Where are the gods H2574 of Hamath, H774 and of Arpad? H430 where are the gods H5617 of Sepharvaim, H2012 Hena, H5755 and Ivah? H5337 have they delivered H8111 Samaria H3027 out of my hand?

35 H430 Who are they among all the gods H776 of the countries, H5337 that have delivered H776 their country H3027 out of my hand, H3068 that the Lord H5337 should deliver H3389 Jerusalem H3027 out of my hand?

36 H5971 But the people H2790 held their peace, H6030 and answered H1697 him not a word: H4428 for the king's H4687 commandment H559 was, saying, H6030 Answer him not.

37 H935 Then came H471 Eliakim H1121 the son H2518 of Hilkiah, H1004 which was over the household, H7644 and Shebna H5608 the scribe, H3098 and Joah H1121 the son H623 of Asaph H2142 the recorder, H2396 to Hezekiah H899 with their clothes H7167 tore, H5046 and told H1697 him the words H7262 of Rab–shakeh.
