Numbers 36 And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead , the son of Machir , the son of Manasseh , of the families of the sons of Joseph , came near , and spake before Moses , and before the princes , the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

2 H559 And they said [H8799] H3068 , The LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H113 my lord H5414 to give [H8800] H776 the land H5159 for an inheritance H1486 by lot H1121 to the children H3478 of Israel H113 : and my lord H6680 was commanded [H8795] H3068 by the LORD H5414 to give [H8800] H5159 the inheritance H6765 of Zelophehad H251 our brother H1323 unto his daughters.

3 H802 And if they be married H259 to any H1121 of the sons H7626 of the other tribes H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H5159 , then shall their inheritance H1639 be taken [H8738] H5159 from the inheritance H1 of our fathers H3254 , and shall be put [H8738] H5159 to the inheritance H4294 of the tribe H1639 whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken [H8735] H1486 from the lot H5159 of our inheritance.

4 H3104 And when the jubile H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H5159 shall be, then shall their inheritance H3254 be put [H8738] H5159 unto the inheritance H4294 of the tribe H5159 whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance H1639 be taken away [H8735] H5159 from the inheritance H4294 of the tribe H1 of our fathers.

5 H4872 And Moses H6680 commanded [H8762] H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H6310 according to the word H3068 of the LORD H559 , saying [H8800] H4294 , The tribe H1121 of the sons H3130 of Joseph H1696 hath said [H8802] well.

6 H1697 This is the thing H3068 which the LORD H6680 doth command [H8765] H1323 concerning the daughters H6765 of Zelophehad H559 , saying [H8800] H802 , Let them marry H5869 to whom they think H2896 best H4940 ; only to the family H4294 of the tribe H1 of their father H802 shall they marry.

7 H5159 So shall not the inheritance H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H5437 remove [H8735] H4294 from tribe H4294 to tribe H376 : for every one H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H1692 shall keep [H8799] H5159 himself to the inheritance H4294 of the tribe H1 of his fathers.

8 H1323 And every daughter H3423 , that possesseth [H8802] H5159 an inheritance H4294 in any tribe H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H802 , shall be wife H259 unto one H4940 of the family H4294 of the tribe H1 of her father H1121 , that the children H3478 of Israel H3423 may enjoy [H8799] H376 every man H5159 the inheritance H1 of his fathers.

9 H5159 Neither shall the inheritance H5437 remove [H8735] H4294 from one tribe H312 to another H4294 tribe H376 ; but every one H4294 of the tribes H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H1692 shall keep [H8799] H5159 himself to his own inheritance.

10 H3068 Even as the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H4872 Moses H6213 , so did [H8804] H1323 the daughters H6765 of Zelophehad:

11 H4244 For Mahlah H8656 , Tirzah H2295 , and Hoglah H4435 , and Milcah H5270 , and Noah H1323 , the daughters H6765 of Zelophehad H802 , were married H1730 unto their father's H1121 brothers' sons:

12 H802 And they were married H4940 into the families H1121 of the sons H4519 of Manasseh H1121 the son H3130 of Joseph H5159 , and their inheritance H4294 remained in the tribe H4940 of the family H1 of their father.

13 H4687 These are the commandments H4941 and the judgments H3068 , which the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H3027 by the hand H4872 of Moses H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H6160 in the plains H4124 of Moab H3383 by Jordan H3405 near Jericho.

KJV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel: ² And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters. ³ And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance. ⁴ And when the jubilee of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers. ⁵ And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well. ⁶ This is the thing which the LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. ⁷ So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. ⁸ And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. ⁹ Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. ¹⁰ Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad: ¹¹ For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons: ¹² And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father. ¹³ These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
