Genesis 39 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hand of the Ishmaelites, that had brought him down thither.

1 H3130 And Joseph H3381 was brought down H4714 to Egypt; H6318 and Potiphar, H5631 an officer H6547 of Pharaoh's, H8269 the captain H2876 of the guard, H376 an Egyptian, H7069 bought H3027 him of the hand H3459 of the Ishmaelites, H3381 that had brought him down thither.

2 H3068 And Jehovah H3130 was with Joseph, H6743 and he was a prosperous H376 man; H1004 and he was in the house H113 of his master H4713 the Egyptian.

3 H113 And his master H7200 saw H3068 that Jehovah H3068 was with him, and that Jehovah H6213 made all that he did H6743 to prosper H3027 in his hand.

4 H3130 And Joseph H4672 found H2580 favor H5869 in his sight, H8334 and he ministered H6485 unto him: and he made him overseer H1004 over his house, H3426 and all that he had H5414 he put H3027 into his hand.

5 H227 And it came to pass from the time H6485 that he made him overseer H1004 in his house, H3426 and over all that he had, H3068 that Jehovah H1288 blessed H4713 the Egyptian's H1004 house H3130 for Joseph's H1558 sake; H1293 and the blessing H3068 of Jehovah H3426 was upon all that he had, H1004 in the house H7704 and in the field.

6 H5800 And he left H3130 all that he had in Joseph's H3027 hand; H3045 and he knew H3972 not aught H518 that was with him, save H3899 the bread H398 which he did eat. H3130 And Joseph H8389 was comely, H3303 and H4758 well-favored.

7 H310 And it came to pass after H1697 these things, H113 that his master's H802 wife H5375 cast H5869 her eyes H3130 upon Joseph; H559 and she said, H7901 Lie with me.

8 H3985 But he refused, H559 and said H113 unto his master's H802 wife, H113 Behold, my master H3045 knoweth H1004 not what is with me in the house, H5414 and he hath put H3426 all that he hath H3027 into my hand:

9 H1419 he is not greater H1004 in this house H3808 than I; neither H2820 hath he kept back H3972 anything H834 from me but thee, because H859 thou H802 art his wife: H6213 how then can I do H1419 this great H7451 wickedness, H2398 and sin H430 against God?

10 H1696 And it came to pass, as she spake H3130 to Joseph H3117 day H3117 by day, H8085 that he hearkened H7901 not unto her, to lie H681 by her, or to be with her.

11 H3117 And it came to pass about this time, H935 that he went H1004 into the house H6213 to do H4399 his work; H376 and there was none of the men H1004 of the house there within.

12 H8610 And she caught H899 him by his garment, H559 saying, H7901 Lie H5800 with me: and he left H899 his garment H3027 in her hand, H5127 and fled, H3318 and got H2351 him out.

13 H7200 And it came to pass, when she saw H5800 that he had left H899 his garment H3027 in her hand, H5127 and was fled H2351 forth,

14 H7121 that she called H582 unto the men H1004 of her house, H559 and spake H559 unto them, saying, H7200 See, H935 he hath brought in H376 a Hebrew H6711 unto us to mock H935 us: he came in H7901 unto me to lie H7121 with me, and I cried H1419 with a loud H6963 voice:

15 H8085 and it came to pass, when he heard H7311 that I lifted up H6963 my voice H7121 and cried, H5800 that he left H899 his garment H681 by me, H5127 and fled, H3318 and got him H2351 out.

16 H3240 And she laid up H899 his garment H681 by her, H113 until his master H935 came H1004 home.

17 H1696 And she spake H1697 unto him according to these words, H559 saying, H5680 The Hebrew H5650 servant, H935 whom thou hast brought H935 unto us, came in H6711 unto me to mock me:

18 H7311 and it came to pass, as I lifted up H6963 my voice H7121 and cried, H5800 that he left H899 his garment H681 by me, H5127 and fled H2351 out.

19 H113 And it came to pass, when his master H8085 heard H1697 the words H802 of his wife, H1696 which she spake H559 unto him, saying, H1697 After this manner H6213 did H5650 thy servant H639 to me; that his wrath H2734 was kindled.

20 H3130 And Joseph's H113 master H3947 took H5414 him, and put him H1004 into the prison, H4725 the place H4428 where the king's H615 prisoners H631 were bound: H1004 and he was there in the prison.

21 H3068 But Jehovah H3130 was with Joseph, H5186 and showed H2617 kindness H5414 unto him, and gave H2580 him favor H5869 in the sight H8269 of the keeper H1004 of the prison.

22 H8269 And the keeper H1004 of the prison H5414 committed H3130 to Joseph's H3027 hand H615 all the prisoners H1004 that were in the prison; H6213 and whatsoever they did H6213 there, he was the doer of it.

23 H8269 The keeper H1004 of the prison H7200 looked H3972 not to anything H3027 that was under his hand, H3068 because Jehovah H6213 was with him; and that which he did, H3068 Jehovah H6743 made it to prosper.
