Matthew 3:1-17

  1 G1161 And G1722 in G3588   G1565 those G2250 days G3854 [G5736] came G2491 John G3588 the G910 Baptist, G2784 [G5723] proclaiming G1722 in G3588 the G2048 wilderness G3588   G2449 of Judaea,

  2 G2532 And G3004 [G5723] saying, G3340 [G5720] Change thy mind: G1063 for G3588 the G932 kingdom G3588 of the G3772 heavens G1448 [G5758] is at hand.

  3 G1063 For G3778 this G2076 [G5748] is he G4483 [G5685] that was spoken G5259 of by G4396 the prophet G2268 Isaiah, G3004 [G5723] saying, G5456 The voice G994 [G5723] of one crying G1722 in G2048 the wilderness, G2090 [G5657] Prepare ye G3598 the way G2962 of the Lord, G4160 [G5720] make G846 his G5147 paths G2117 straight.

  4 G1161 And G846 the same G2491 John G2192 [G5707] had G846 his G1742 raiment G575 from G2574 camel's G2359 hair, G2532 and G1193 a leather G2223 belt G4012 about G846 his G3751 loins; G1161 and G846 his G5160 nourishment G2258 [G5713] was G200 locusts G2532 and G66 wild G3192 honey.

  5 G5119 Then G1607 [G5711] went out G4314 to G846 him G2414 Jerusalem, G2532 and G3956 all G2449 Judaea, G2532 and G3956 all G4066 the region about G2446 Jordan,

  6 G2532 And G907 [G5712] were baptized G5259 by G846 him G1722 in G3588 the G2446 Jordan, G1843 [G5734] confessing G3588   G846 their G266 sins.

  7 G1161 But G1492 [G5631] when he saw G4183 many G5330 of the Pharisees G2532 and G4523 Sadducees G2064 [G5740] come G1909 to G846 his G908 baptism, G2036 [G5627] he said G846 to them, G1081 O generation G2191 of vipers, G5101 who G5263 [G5656] hath plainly showed G5213 you G5343 [G5629] to flee G575 from G3709 the wrath G3195 [G5723] to come?

  8 G4160 [G5657] Bring forth G3767 therefore G2590 fruits G514 worthy G3588 of the G3341 change of mind:

  9 G2532 And G1380 [G5661] think G3361 not G3004 [G5721] to say G1722 within G1438 yourselves, G2192 [G5719] We have G11 Abraham G3962 for our father: G1063 for G3004 [G5719] I say G5213 to you, G3754 that G2316 God G1410 [G5736] is able G1537 from out of G5130 these G3037 stones G1453 [G5658] to raise up G5043 children G11 to Abraham.

  10 G1161 And G2235 now G2532 also G513 the axe G2749 [G5736] is laid G4314 to G4491 the root G1186 of the trees: G3767 therefore G3956 every G1186 tree G4160 0 which bringeth G3361 not G4160 [G5723] forth G2570 good G2590 fruit G1581 [G5743] is hewn down, G2532 and G906 [G5743] cast G1519 into G4442 the fire.

  11 G1473 I G3303 indeed G907 [G5719] baptize G5209 you G1722 in G5204 water G1519 into G3341 a change of mind: G1161 but G2064 [G5740] he that cometh G3694 after G3450 me G2076 [G5748] is G2478 stronger than G3450 I, G3739 whose G5266 shoes G1510 [G5748] I am G3756 not G2425 competent G941 [G5658] to bear: G846 he G907 [G5692] shall baptize G5209 you G1722 in G40 Holy G4151 Spirit, G2532 and G4442 in fire:

  12 G3739 Whose G4425 fan G1722 is in G846 his G5495 hand, G2532 and G1245 [G5692] he will thoroughly cleanse G846 his G257 floor, G2532 and G4863 [G5692] gather G846 his G4621 grain G1519 into G596 the barn; G1161 but G2618 [G5692] he will burn G892 the chaff G762 with unquenchable G4442 fire.

  13 G5119 Then G3854 [G5736] cometh G2424 Jesus G575 from G1056 Galilee G1909 to G2446 Jordan G4314 to G2491 John, G907 [G5683] to be baptized G5259 by G846 him.

  14 G1161 But G2491 John G1254 [G5707] forbad G3004 [G5723] him, saying, G1473 I G2192 [G5719] have G5532 need G907 [G5683] to be baptized G5259 by G4675 thee, G2532 and G2064 [G5736] comest G4771 thou G4314 to G3165 me?

  15 G1161 And G2424 Jesus G611 [G5679] answering G2036 [G5627] said G4314 to G846 him, G863 [G5628] { Permit G737 it to be so now: G1063 for G3779 thus G2076 [G5748] it is G4241 [G5723] befitting G2254 for us G4137 [G5658] to fulfil G3956 all G1343 righteousness. G5119 } Then G863 [G5719] he alloweth G846 him.

  16 G2532 And G2424 Jesus, G907 [G5685] having been baptized, G305 [G5627] went up G2117 immediately G575 from G3588 the G5204 water: G2532 and, G2400 [G5628] lo, G3588 the G3772 heavens G455 [G5681] were opened G846 to him, G2532 and G1492 [G5627] he saw G3588 the G4151 Spirit G3588   G2316 of God G2597 [G5723] descending G5616 like G4058 a dove, G2532 and G2064 [G5740] coming G1909 upon G846 him:

  17 G2532 And G2400 [G5628] lo G5456 a voice G1537 from G3772 heaven, G3004 [G5723] saying, G3778 This G2076 [G5748] is G3450 my G27 beloved G5207 Son, G1722 in G3739 whom G2106 [G5656] I am well pleased.
