Ecclesiastes 9

KJV_Strongs(i)
H5414 For all this I considered [H8804]   H3820 in my heart H952 even to declare [H8800]   H6662 all this, that the righteous H2450 , and the wise H5652 , and their works H3027 , are in the hand H430 of God H120 : no man H3045 knoweth [H8802]   H1571 either H160 love H8135 or hatred H6440 by all that is before them.
H259 All things come alike to all: there is one H4745 event H6662 to the righteous H7563 , and to the wicked H2896 ; to the good H2889 and to the clean H2931 , and to the unclean H2076 ; to him that sacrificeth [H8802]   H834 , and to him that H2076 sacrificeth [H8802]   H2896 not: as is the good H2398 , so is the sinner [H8802]   H7650 ; and he that sweareth [H8737]   H3373 , as he that feareth H7621 an oath.
H7451 This is an evil H6213 among all things that are done [H8738]   H8121 under the sun H259 , that there is one H4745 event H3820 unto all: yea, also the heart H1121 of the sons H120 of men H4390 is full [H8804]   H7451 of evil H1947 , and madness H3824 is in their heart H2416 while they live H310 , and after H4191 that they go to the dead [H8801]  .
H4310 For H3426 to him that is H2266 joined [H8792]   [H8675]   H977   [H8792]   H2416 to all the living H986 there is hope H2416 : for a living H3611 dog H2896 is better H4191 than a dead [H8801]   H738 lion.
H2416 For the living H3045 know [H8802]   H4191 that they shall die [H8799]   H4191 : but the dead [H8801]   H3045 know [H8802]   H3972 not any thing H7939 , neither have they any more a reward H2143 ; for the memory H7911 of them is forgotten [H8738]  .
H160 Also their love H8135 , and their hatred H7068 , and their envy H3528 , is now H6 perished [H8804]   H2506 ; neither have they any more a portion H5769 for ever H6213 in any thing that is done [H8738]   H8121 under the sun.
H3212 Go thy way [H8798]   H398 , eat [H8798]   H3899 thy bread H8057 with joy H8354 , and drink [H8798]   H3196 thy wine H2896 with a merry H3820 heart H430 ; for God H3528 now H7521 accepteth [H8804]   H4639 thy works.
H899 Let thy garments H6256 be always H3836 white H7218 ; and let thy head H2637 lack [H8799]   H8081 no ointment.
H2416 Live H7200 joyfully [H8798]   H802 with the wife H157 whom thou lovest [H8804]   H3117 all the days H2416 of the life H1892 of thy vanity H5414 , which he hath given [H8804]   H8121 thee under the sun H3117 , all the days H1892 of thy vanity H2506 : for that is thy portion H2416 in this life H5999 , and in thy labour H6001 which thou takest H8121 under the sun.
H3027 Whatsoever thy hand H4672 findeth [H8799]   H6213 to do [H8800]   H6213 , do [H8798]   H3581 it with thy might H4639 ; for there is no work H2808 , nor device H1847 , nor knowledge H2451 , nor wisdom H7585 , in the grave H1980 , whither thou goest [H8802]  .
H7725 I returned [H8804]   H7200 , and saw [H8800]   H8121 under the sun H4793 , that the race H7031 is not to the swift H4421 , nor the battle H1368 to the strong H3899 , neither yet bread H2450 to the wise H6239 , nor yet riches H995 to men of understanding [H8737]   H2580 , nor yet favour H3045 to men of skill [H8802]   H6256 ; but time H6294 and chance H7136 happeneth [H8799]   to them all.
H120 For man H3045 also knoweth [H8799]   H6256 not his time H1709 : as the fishes H270 that are taken [H8737]   H7451 in an evil H4685 net H6833 , and as the birds H270 that are caught [H8803]   H6341 in the snare H1992 ; so H1121 are the sons H120 of men H3369 snared [H8795]   H7451 in an evil H6256 time H5307 , when it falleth [H8799]   H6597 suddenly upon them.
H2090 This H2451 wisdom H7200 have I seen [H8804]   H8121 also under the sun H1419 , and it seemed great unto me:
H6996 There was a little H5892 city H4592 , and few H582 men H935 within it; and there came [H8804]   H1419 a great H4428 king H5437 against it, and besieged [H8804]   H1129 it, and built [H8804]   H1419 great H4685 bulwarks against it:
H4672 Now there was found [H8804]   H4542 in it a poor H2450 wise H376 man H2451 , and he by his wisdom H4422 delivered [H8765]   H5892 the city H120 ; yet no man H2142 remembered [H8804]   H4542 that same poor H376 man.
H559 Then said [H8804]   H2451 I, Wisdom H2896 is better H1369 than strength H4542 : nevertheless the poor man's H2451 wisdom H959 is despised [H8803]   H1697 , and his words H8085 are not heard [H8737]  .
H1697 The words H2450 of wise H8085 men are heard [H8737]   H5183 in quiet H2201 more than the cry H4910 of him that ruleth [H8802]   H3684 among fools.
H2451 Wisdom H2896 is better H3627 than weapons H7128 of war H259 : but one H2398 sinner [H8802]   H6 destroyeth [H8762]   H7235 much [H8687]   H2896 good.
KJV(i) 1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them. 2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. 3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead. 4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. 7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. 8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. 9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. 11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. 12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. 13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: 14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16 Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
