Numbers 17 And the LORD spake unto Moses , saying ,

1 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H1696 Speak [H8761] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H3947 , and take [H8798] H4294 of every one of them a rod H4294 H1004 according to the house H1 of their fathers H5387 , of all their princes H1004 according to the house H1 of their fathers H8147 twelve H6240 H4294 rods H3789 : write [H8799] H376 thou every man's H8034 name H4294 upon his rod.

3 H3789 And thou shalt write [H8799] H175 Aaron's H8034 name H4294 upon the rod H3878 of Levi H259 : for one H4294 rod H7218 shall be for the head H1004 of the house H1 of their fathers.

4 H3240 And thou shalt lay them up [H8689] H168 in the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6440 before H5715 the testimony H3259 , where I will meet [H8735] with you.

5 H376 And it shall come to pass, that the man's H4294 rod H977 , whom I shall choose [H8799] H6524 , shall blossom [H8799] H7918 : and I will make to cease [H8689] H8519 from me the murmurings H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H3885 , whereby they murmur [H8688] against you.

6 H4872 And Moses H1696 spake [H8762] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H5387 , and every one of their princes H5414 gave [H8799] H4294 him a rod H4294 H5387 apiece, for each prince H5387 H259 one H259 H1 , according to their fathers H1004 ' houses H6240 , even twelve H8147 H4294 rods H4294 : and the rod H175 of Aaron H8432 was among H4294 their rods.

7 H4872 And Moses H3240 laid up [H8686] H4294 the rods H6440 before H3068 the LORD H168 in the tabernacle H5715 of witness.

8 H4283 And it came to pass, that on the morrow H4872 Moses H935 went [H8799] H168 into the tabernacle H5715 of witness H4294 ; and, behold, the rod H175 of Aaron H1004 for the house H3878 of Levi H6524 was budded [H8804] H3318 , and brought forth [H8686] H6525 buds H6692 , and bloomed [H8686] H6731 blossoms H1580 , and yielded [H8799] H8247 almonds.

9 H4872 And Moses H3318 brought out [H8686] H4294 all the rods H6440 from before H3068 the LORD H1121 unto all the children H3478 of Israel H7200 : and they looked [H8799] H3947 , and took [H8799] H376 every man H4294 his rod.

10 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799] H4872 unto Moses H7725 , Bring H175 Aaron's H4294 rod H7725 again [H8685] H6440 before H5715 the testimony H4931 , to be kept H226 for a token H4805 against the rebels H1121 H3615 ; and thou shalt quite take away [H8762] H8519 their murmurings H4191 from me, that they die [H8799] not.

11 H4872 And Moses H6213 did [H8799] H3068 so : as the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H6213 him, so did [H8804] he.

12 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H559 spake [H8799] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] H1478 , Behold, we die [H8804] H6 , we perish [H8804] H6 , we all perish [H8804] .

13 H7131 Whosoever cometh any thing near H4908 unto the tabernacle H3068 of the LORD H4191 shall die [H8799] H8552 : shall we be consumed [H8804] H1478 with dying [H8800] ?

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ² Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod. ³ And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses. ⁴ And thou shalt lay them up in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you. ⁵ And it shall come to pass, that the man whom I shall choose, his rod shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you. ⁶ And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. ⁷ And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tent of the testimony. ⁸ And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and bare ripe almonds. ⁹ And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod. ¹⁰ And the LORD said unto Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that thou mayest make an end of their murmurings against me, that they die not. ¹¹ Thus did Moses: as the LORD commanded him, so did he. ¹² And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone. ¹³ Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of the LORD, dieth: shall we perish all of us?
