Daniel 6

  2 H5924 And over H4481 these H8532 three H5632 presidents; H4481 of whom H1841 Daniel H2298 was first: H459 that H324 the princes H1934 [H8748] might H3052 [H8751] give H2941 accounts H4430 to them, and the king H1934 [H8748] should suffer H3809 no H5142 [H8752] loss.

  3 H116 Then H1836 this H1841 Daniel H1934 [H8754] was H5330 [H8723] preferred H5922 above H5632 the presidents H324 and princes, H3606 H6903 because H3493 an excellent H7308 spirit H4430 was in him; and the king H6246 [H8754] thought H6966 [H8682] to set H5922 him over H3606 the whole H4437 realm.

  4 H116 Then H5632 the presidents H324 and princes H1934 H1156 [H8754] sought H7912 [H8682] to find H5931 occasion H1841 against Daniel H6655 concerning H4437 the kingdom; H3606 but H3202 [H8750] they could H7912 [H8682] find H3809 no H5931 occasion H3809 nor H7844 [H8752] fault; H6903 forasmuch H540 [H8683] as he was faithful, H3809 neither H3606 was there any H7960 error H7844 [H8752] or fault H7912 [H8728] found H5922 in him.

  5 H116 Then H560 [H8750] said H479 these H1400 men, H3809 We shall not H7912 [H8684] find H3606 any H5931 occasion H5922 against H1836 this H1841 Daniel, H3861 except H7912 [H8681] we find H1882 it against him concerning the law H426 of his God.

  6 H116 Then H459 these H5632 presidents H324 and princes H7284 [H8684] assembled H4430 to the king, H560 [H8750] and said H3652 thus H5922 to him, H4430 King H1868 Darius, H2418 [H8747] live H5957 for ever.

  7 H3606 All H5632 the presidents H4437 of the kingdom, H5460 the governors, H324 and the princes, H1907 the counsellors, H6347 and the captains, H3272 [H8724] have consulted together H6966 [H8742] to establish H4430 a royal H7010 statute, H8631 [H8742] and to make a firm H633 decree, H1156 [H8748] that whoever shall ask H1159 a petition H4481 of H3606 any H426 god H606 or man H5705 for H8533 thirty H3118 days, H3861 except H4481 of thee, H4430 O king, H7412 [H8729] he shall be cast H1358 into the den H744 of lions.

  8 H3705 Now, H4430 O king, H6966 [H8681] establish H633 the decree, H7560 [H8748] and sign H3792 the writing, H3809 that it may not be H8133 [H8682] changed, H1882 according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians, H5709 [H8748] which altereth H3809 not.

  9 H3606 H1836 H6903 Therefore H4430 king H1868 Darius H7560 [H8754] signed H3792 the writing H633 and the decree.

  10 H1841 Now when Daniel H3046 [H8754] knew H3792 that the writing H7560 [H8752] was signed, H5954 [H8754] he went H1005 into his house; H3551 and his windows H6606 [H8759] being open H5952 in his chamber H5049 toward H3390 Jerusalem, H1289 [H8750] he kneeled H5922 upon H1291 his knees H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day, H6739 [H8743] and prayed, H3029 [H8683] and gave thanks H6925 before H426 his God, H6903 H3606 as H1934 H5648 [H8754] he did H4481 H1836 H6928 before.

  11 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 [H8684] assembled, H7912 [H8684] and found H1841 Daniel H1156 [H8750] praying H2604 [H8723] and making supplication H6925 before H426 his God.

  12 H116 Then H7127 [H8754] they came near, H560 [H8750] and spoke H6925 before H4430 the king H5922 concerning H4430 the king's H633 decree; H3809 Hast thou not H7560 [H8754] signed H633 a decree, H3606 that every H606 man H1156 [H8748] that shall ask H4481 a petition of H3606 any H426 god H606 or man H5705 within H8533 thirty H3118 days, H3861 except H4481 of thee, H4430 O king, H7412 [H8729] shall be cast H1358 into the den H744 of lions? H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said, H4406 The thing H3330 is true, H1882 according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians, H5709 [H8748] which altereth H3809 not.

  13 H116 Then H6032 [H8754] they answered H560 [H8750] and said H6925 before H4430 the king, H1841 That Daniel, H4481 who is of H1123 the children H1547 of the captivity H3061 of Judah, H7761 H2942 [H8754] regardeth H3809 not H5922 thee, H4430 O king, H633 nor the decree H7560 [H8754] that thou hast signed, H1156 [H8750] but maketh H1159 his petition H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day.

  14 H116 Then H4430 the king, H8086 [H8754] when he heard H4406 these words, H7690 was much H888 [H8754] displeased H7761 [H8754] with himself, and set H1079 his anxiety H5922 on H1841 Daniel H7804 [H8756] to deliver H1934 H7712 [H8754] him: and he laboured H5705 till H4606 the setting H8122 of the sun H5338 [H8682] to extricate him.

  15 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 [H8684] assembled H5922 to H4430 the king, H560 [H8750] and said H4430 to the king, H3046 [H8747] Know, H4430 O king, H1882 that the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians H3606 is, That no H633 decree H7010 nor statute H4430 which the king H6966 [H8681] establisheth H8133 [H8682] may be changed.

  16 H116 Then H4430 the king H560 [H8754] commanded, H858 [H8684] and they brought H1841 Daniel, H7412 [H8754] and cast H1358 him into the den H744 of lions. H4430 Now the king H6032 [H8750] spoke H560 [H8750] and said H1841 to Daniel, H426 Thy God H607 whom thou H6399 [H8750] servest H8411 continually, H7804 [H8755] he will deliver thee.

  17 H2298 And a H69 stone H858 [H8717] was brought, H7761 [H8752] and laid H5922 upon H6433 the mouth H1358 of the den; H4430 and the king H2857 [H8754] sealed H5824 it with his own signet, H5824 and with the signet H7261 of his lords; H6640 that the purpose H3809 might not H8133 [H8748] be changed H1841 concerning Daniel.

  18 H116 Then H4430 the king H236 [H8754] went H1965 to his palace, H956 [H8754] and passed the night H2908 fasting: H3809 neither H1761 were instruments H5954 [H8684] of music brought H6925 before H8139 him: and his sleep H5075 [H8754] went H5922 from him.

  19 H116 Then H4430 the king H6966 [H8748] arose H8238 very early H5053 in the morning, H236 [H8754] and went H927 [H8726] in haste H1358 to the den H744 of lions.

  20 H7127 [H8749] And when he came H1358 to the den, H2200 [H8754] he cried H6088 [H8750] with a lamentable H7032 voice H1841 to Daniel: H4430 and the king H6032 [H8750] spoke H560 [H8750] and said H1841 to Daniel, H1841 O Daniel, H5649 servant H2417 of the living H426 God, H426 is thy God, H6399 [H8750] whom thou servest H8411 continually, H3202 [H8754] able H7804 [H8756] to deliver H4481 thee from H744 the lions?

  21 H116 Then H4449 [H8745] said H1841 Daniel H5974 to H4430 the king, H4430 O king, H2418 [H8747] live H5957 for ever.

  22 H426 My God H7972 [H8754] hath sent H4398 his messenger, H5463 [H8754] and hath shut H744 the lions' H6433 mouths, H3809 that they have not H2255 [H8745] hurt H3606 H6903 me: forasmuch as H6925 before H2136 him innocency H7912 [H8728] was found H638 in me; and also H6925 before H4430 thee, O king, H5648 [H8754] have I done H3809 no H2248 hurt.

  23 H116 Then H4430 was the king H7690 exceeding H2868 [H8754] glad H5922 for him, H560 [H8754] and commanded H5267 [H8682] that they should take H1841 Daniel H4481 out of H1358 the den. H1841 So Daniel H5267 [H8717] was taken H4481 out of H1358 the den, H3809 and no H3606 manner H2257 of hurt H7912 [H8728] was found H540 [H8684] upon him, because he believed H426 in his God.

  24 H4430 And the king H560 [H8754] commanded, H858 [H8684] and they brought H479 those H1400 men H399 H7170 [H8754] who had accused H1841 Daniel, H7412 [H8754] and they cast H1358 them into the den H744 of lions, H581 them, H1123 their children, H5389 and their wives; H744 and the lions H5705 H7981 [H8754] had the mastery H1855 0 of them, and broke H3606 all H1635 their bones H1855 [H8684] in pieces H3809 before H4291 [H8754] they came H773 to the bottom H1358 of the den.

  25 H116 Then H4430 king H1868 Darius H3790 [H8754] wrote H3606 to all H5972 people, H524 nations, H3961 and languages, H1753 [H8748] that dwell H3606 in all H772 the earth; H8001 Peace H7680 [H8748] be multiplied to you.

  26 H4481 H6925 I H7761 [H8752] make H2942 a decree, H3606 That in every H7985 dominion H4437 of my kingdom H1934 H2112 [H8748] men tremble H1763 [H8751] and fear H4481 H6925 before H426 the God H1841 of Daniel: H2417 for he is the living H426 God, H7011 and steadfast H5957 for ever, H4437 and his kingdom H3809 that which shall not H2255 [H8721] be ruined, H7985 and his dominion H5705 shall be even to H5491 the end.

  27 H7804 [H8757] He delivereth H5338 [H8683] and extricateth, H5648 [H8751] and he worketh H852 signs H8540 and wonders H8065 in heaven H772 and on earth, H7804 [H8758] who hath delivered H1841 Daniel H4481 from H3028 the power H744 of the lions.

  28 H1836 So this H1841 Daniel H6744 [H8684] prospered H4437 in the reign H1868 of Darius, H4437 and in the reign H3567 of Cyrus H6543 the Persian.
