  2 H5924 and over H4481 them H8532 three H5632 presidents, H4481 of whom H1841 Daniel H2298 was one; H459 that H324 these satraps H1934 might H3052 give H2941 account H4430 unto them, and that the king H1934 should have H3809 no H5142 damage.
  3 H116 Then H1836 this H1841 Daniel H1934 was H5330 distinguished H5922 above H5632 the presidents H324 and the satraps, H3606 because H3493 an excellent H7308 spirit H4430 was in him; and the king H6246 thought H6966 to set H5922 him over H3606 the whole H4437 realm.
  4 H116 Then H5632 the presidents H324 and the satraps H1934 sought H7912 to find H5931 occasion H1841 against Daniel H6655 as touching H4437 the kingdom; H3606 but H3202 they could H7912 find H3809 no H5931 occasion H3809 nor H7844 fault, H6903 forasmuch H540 as he was faithful, H3809 neither H3606 was there any H7960 error H7844 or fault H7912 found H5922 in him.
  5 H116 Then H560 said H479 these H1400 men, H3809 We shall not H7912 find H3606 any H5931 occasion H5922 against H1836 this H1841 Daniel, H3861 except H7912 we find H1882 it against him concerning the law H426 of his God.
  6 H116 Then H459 these H5632 presidents H324 and satraps H7284 assembled together H4430 to the king, H560 and said H3652 thus H5922 unto him, H4430 King H1868 Darius, H2418 live H5957 for ever.
  7 H3606 All H5632 the presidents H4437 of the kingdom, H5460 the deputies H324 and the satraps, H1907 the counsellors H6347 and the governors, H3272 have consulted together H6966 to establish H4430 a royal H7010 statute, H8631 and to make a strong H633 interdict, H1156 that whosoever shall ask H1159 a petition H4481 of H3606 any H426 god H606 or man H5705 for H8533 thirty H3118 days, H3861 save H4481 of thee, H4430 O king, H7412 he shall be cast H1358 into the den H744 of lions.
  8 H3705 Now, H4430 O king, H6966 establish H633 the interdict, H7560 and sign H3792 the writing, H3809 that it be not H8133 changed, H1882 according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians, H5709 which altereth H3809 not.
  9 H1836 Wherefore H4430 king H1868 Darius H7560 signed H3792 the writing H633 and the interdict.
  10 H1841 And when Daniel H3046 knew H3792 that the writing H7560 was signed, H5954 he went H1005 into his house H3551 (now his windows H6606 were open H5952 in his chamber H5049 toward H3390 Jerusalem) H1289 and he kneeled H5922 upon H1291 his knees H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day, H6739 and prayed, H3029 and gave thanks H6925 before H426 his God, H6903 as H1934 he did H1836 aforetime.
  11 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 assembled H7912 together, and found H1841 Daniel H1156 making petition H2604 and supplication H6925 before H426 his God.
  12 H116 Then H7127 they came near, H560 and spake H6925 before H4430 the king H5922 concerning H4430 the king's H633 interdict: H3809 Hast thou not H7560 signed H633 an interdict, H3606 that every H606 man H1156 that shall make H4481 petition unto H3606 any H426 god H606 or man H5705 within H8533 thirty H3118 days, H3861 save H4481 unto thee, H4430 O king, H7412 shall be cast H1358 into the den H744 of lions? H4430 The king H6032 answered H560 and said, H4406 The thing H3330 is true, H1882 according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians, H5709 which altereth H3809 not.
  13 H116 Then H6032 answered H560 they and said H6925 before H4430 the king, H1841 That Daniel, H4481 who is of H1123 the children H1547 of the captivity H3061 of Judah, H7761 regardeth H3809 not H5922 thee, H4430 O king, H633 nor the interdict H7560 that thou hast signed, H1156 but maketh H1159 his petition H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day.
  14 H116 Then H4430 the king, H8086 when he heard H4406 these words, H7690 was sore H888 displeased, H7761 and set H1079 his heart H5922 on H1841 Daniel H7804 to deliver H1934 him; and he labored H5705 till H4606 the going down H8122 of the sun H5338 to rescue him.
  15 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 assembled H5922 together unto H4430 the king, H560 and said H4430 unto the king, H3046 Know, H4430 O king, H1882 that it is a law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians, H3606 that no H633 interdict H7010 nor statute H4430 which the king H6966 establisheth H8133 may be changed.
  16 H116 Then H4430 the king H560 commanded, H858 and they brought H1841 Daniel, H7412 and cast H1358 him into the den H744 of lions. H4430 Now the king H6032 spake H560 and said H1841 unto Daniel, H426 Thy God H607 whom thou H6399 servest H8411 continually, H7804 he will deliver thee.
  17 H2298 And a H69 stone H858 was brought, H7761 and laid H5922 upon H6433 the mouth H1358 of the den; H4430 and the king H2857 sealed H5824 it with his own signet, H5824 and with the signet H7261 of his lords; H3809 that nothing H8133 might be changed H6640 concerning H1841 Daniel.
  18 H116 Then H4430 the king H236 went H1965 to his palace, H956 and passed the night H2908 fasting; H3809 neither H1761 were instruments H5954 of music brought H6925 before H8139 him: and his sleep H5075 fled H5922 from him.
  19 H116 Then H4430 the king H6966 arose H8238 very early H5053 in the morning, H236 and went H927 in haste H1358 unto the den H744 of lions.
  20 H7127 And when he came H1358 near unto the den H1841 to Daniel, H2200 he cried H6088 with a lamentable H7032 voice; H4430 the king H6032 spake H560 and said H1841 to Daniel, H1841 O Daniel, H5649 servant H2417 of the living H426 God, H426 is thy God, H6399 whom thou servest H8411 continually, H3202 able H7804 to deliver H4481 thee from H744 the lions?
  21 H116 Then H4449 said H1841 Daniel H5974 unto H4430 the king, H4430 O king, H2418 live H5957 for ever.
  22 H426 My God H7972 hath sent H4398 his angel, H5463 and hath shut H744 the lions' H6433 mouths, H3809 and they have not H2255 hurt H3606 me; forasmuch as H6925 before H2136 him innocency H7912 was found H638 in me; and also H6925 before H4430 thee, O king, H5648 have I done H3809 no H2248 hurt.
  23 H116 Then H4430 was the king H7690 exceeding H2868 glad, H560 and commanded H5267 that they should take H1841 Daniel H5267 up H4481 out of H1358 the den. H1841 So Daniel H5267 was taken up H4481 out of H1358 the den, H3809 and no H3606 manner H4481 of H2257 hurt H7912 was found H540 upon him, because he had trusted H426 in his God.
  24 H4430 And the king H560 commanded, H858 and they brought H479 those H1400 men H399 that had accused H1841 Daniel, H7412 and they cast H581 them H1358 into the den H744 of lions, H581 them, H1123 their children, H5389 and their wives; H744 and the lions H5705 had the mastery H1855 of them, and brake H3606 all H1635 their bones H1855 in pieces, H4291 before they came H773 to the bottom H1358 of the den.
  25 H116 Then H4430 king H1868 Darius H3790 wrote H3606 unto all H5972 the peoples, H524 nations, H3961 and languages, H1753 that dwell H3606 in all H772 the earth: H8001 Peace H7680 be multiplied unto you.
  26 H4481 I H7761 make H2942 a decree, H4481 that in H7985 all the dominion H4437 of my kingdom H1934 men tremble H1763 and fear H4481 before H426 the God H1841 of Daniel; H2417 for he is the living H426 God, H7011 and stedfast H5957 for ever, H4437 And his kingdom H3809 that which shall not H2255 be destroyed; H7985 and his dominion H5705 shall be even unto H5491 the end.
  27 H7804 He delivereth H5338 and rescueth, H5648 and he worketh H852 signs H8540 and wonders H8065 in heaven H772 and in earth, H7804 who hath delivered H1841 Daniel H4481 from H3028 the power H744 of the lions.
  28 H1836 So this H1841 Daniel H6744 prospered H4437 in the reign H1868 of Darius, H4437 and in the reign H3567 of Cyrus H6543 the Persian.
