Jonah 1:1-17

1360 διότι (because 1097 έγνωσαν [³knew 3588 οι ¹the 435 άνδρες ²men] 3754 ότι that 1537 εκ [³from 4383 προσώπου ⁴the face 2962 κυρίου ⁵of the lord 1510.7.3 ην ¹he was 5343 φεύγων ²fleeing], 3754 ότι for 518 απήγγειλεν he reported it 1473 αυτοίς to them.)   1:11   2532 και And 2036 ειπόν they said 4314 προς to 1473 αυτόν him, 5100 τι What 4160 ποιήσομεν should we do 1473 σοι to you, 2532 και and 2869 κοπάσει [³abates 3588 η ¹the 2281 θάλασσα ²sea] 575 αφ΄ from 1473 ήμων us? 3754 ότι (for 3588 η the 2281 θάλασσα sea 4198 επορεύετο went forth 2532 και and 1825 εξήγειρε rose up 3123 μάλλον a rather 2830 κλύδωνα great swell.)   1:12   2532 και And 2036-* είπεν Ιωνάς Jonah said 4314 προς to 1473 αυτούς them, 142 άρατέ Lift 1473 με me, 2532 και and 1685 εμβάλετε cast me 1519 εις into 3588 την the 2281 θάλασσαν sea, 2532 και and 2869 κοπάσει [³shall abate 3588 η ¹the 2281 θάλασσα ²sea] 575 αφ΄ from 1473 υμών you! 1360 διότι Because 1097-1473 έγνωκα εγώ I know, 3754 ότι that 1223 δι΄ on account of 1473 εμέ me 3588 ο   2830 κλυδών [³swell 3588 ο   3173 μέγας ²great 3778 όυτος ¹this 1909 εφ΄ ⁵upon 1473 υμάς ⁶you 1510.2.3 εστί ⁴is].   1:13   2532 και And 3849 παρεβιάζοντο [³pressed on 3588 οι ¹the 435 άνδρες ²men] 3588 του   1994 επιστρέψαι to turn 4314 προς towards 3588 την the 1093 γην land, 2532 και and 3756 ουκ they were not 1410 ηδύναντο able, 3754 ότι for 3588 η the 2281 θάλασσα sea 4198 επορεύετο went, 2532 και and 1825 εξηγείρετο it rose up 3123 μάλλον rather 1909 επ΄ upon 1473 αυτούς them.   1:14   2532 και And 310 ανεβόησαν they yelled out 4314 προς to 2962 κύριον the lord, 2532 και and 2036 έιπαν they said, 3365 μηδαμώς By no means, 2962 κύριε O lord, 3361 μη should 622 απολώμεθα you destroy us 1752 ένεκεν because of 3588 της the 5590 ψυχής soul 3588 του   444-3778 ανθρώπου τούτου of this man, 2532 και and 3361 μη should not 1325 δως be imputed 1909 εφ΄ against 1473 ήμας us 129 αίμα the blood 1342 δίκαιον of the just; 1360 διότι for 1473 συ you, 2962 κύριε O lord, 3739 ον in which 5158 τρόπον manner 1014 εβούλου you want, 4160 πεποίηκας you do.   1:15   2532 και And 2983 έλαβον they took 3588 τον   * Ιωνάν Jonah, 2532 και and 1544 εξέβαλον they cast 1473 αυτόν him 1519 εις into 3588 την the 2281 θάλασσαν sea. 2532 και And 2476 έστη [³stood 3588 η ¹the 2281 θάλασσα ²sea] 1537 εκ from 3588 του   4535 σάλου αυτής its tossing about.   1:16   2532 και And 5399 εφοβήθησαν [³feared 3588 οι ¹the 435 άνδρες ²men 5401 φόβω ⁵fear 3173 μεγάλω ⁴a great] 3588 τον of the 2962 κύριον lord, 2532 και and 2380 έθυσαν they sacrificed 2378 θυσίαν a sacrifice 3588 τω to the 2962 κυρίω lord, 2532 και and 2172 ηύξαντο vowed 3588 τας the 2171 ευχάς vows.   1:17   2532 και And 4367-2962 προσέταξε κύριος the lord assigned 2785 κήτει [²whale 3173 μεγάλω ¹a great] 2666 καταπιείν to swallow 3588 τον   * Ιωνάν Jonah. 2532 και And 1510.7.3-* ην Ιωνάς Jonah was 1722 εν in 3588 τη the 2836 κοιλία belly 3588 του of the 2785 κήτους whale 5140 τρείς three 2250 ημέρας days 2532 και and 5140 τρείς three 3571 νύκτας nights.
