Deuteronomy 31

VIN(i) 1 And Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel. 2 I am one hundred and twenty years old this day. I can no more go out and come in, and the LORD has said to me, 'You shall not go over this Jordan'. 3 "the LORD your God is the one who will cross the river ahead of you. He will destroy those nations as you arrive. You will take possession of their land. Joshua will also cross the river ahead of you, as the LORD told you. 4 And the LORD will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites and to their land, whom he destroyed. 5 and delivered them up to you. And you shall do to them as I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, nor be scared of them: for the LORD your God is he who is going with you; he will not leave you nor forsake you." 7 Then Moses summoned Joshua, and he said to him in the presence of all Israel, "Be strong and be courageous, for you will go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors to give to them, and you will give it to them as an inheritance. 8 the LORD himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.” 9 Moses wrote this Law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi who carried the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 Then Moses commanded them, saying, "At the end of seven years, in the time of the year for canceling debts during the Feast of Booths, 11 when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD their God at the place that he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12 "Assemble the people, the men and the women and children and the alien who is in your town. Assemble them that they may hear and learn and respect the LORD your God, and be careful to observe all the words of this Law. 13 Their children who don't know will hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan River to possess." 14 Then the LORD said to Moses: "Behold, the time for you to die is near. Call Joshua, and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, that I may commission him." So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the tent of meeting. 15 And the LORD appeared at the tent in the pillar of cloud; and the pillar of cloud stood over the entrance to the tent. 16 And the Lord said to Moses, Now you are going to rest with your fathers; and this people will be false to me, uniting themselves to the strange gods of the land where they are going; they will be turned away from me and will not keep the agreement I have made with them. 17 Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? 18 But I will certainly hide my face on that day, because of all of the evil that they did because they turned to other gods. 19 "Now write this song and teach it to the Israelites. Put this song in their very mouths, so that it will be a witness for me against the Israelites, 20 because after I've brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey that I promised to their ancestors by an oath, they'll eat, grow fat, and then they'll turn to other gods and serve them, while despising me and breaking my covenant. 21 Then, when many evils and troubles will have come upon them, this song will serve as a witness against them, since their descendants won't fail to sing it. I know the plan that they are devising even before I bring them into the land that I promised them by an oath." 22 And Moses wrote this song on that day and taught it to the Israelites. 23 the LORD gave this command to Joshua, son of Nun: "Be strong and courageous, because you will bring the Israelites into the land that I swore to give them, and I will be with you." 24 And when Moses finished writing all the words of this law in a book, even to the end, 25 he gave this charge to the Levites who carried the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD: 26 "Take this Book of the Law, and put it next to the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD your God, where it will be a witness against you. 27 For I know your rebellion and your stiff neck; even while I am alive with you this day you have been rebellious against the LORD, and how much more after my death? 28 Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them. 29 For I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil will happen to you in the latter end of the days, because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands. 30 And Moses spoke all the words of this song even to the end, in the ears of the whole assembly.
