2 Chronicles 35:20-24 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple , Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates : and Josiah went out against him.

21 H7971 But he sent [H8799] H4397 ambassadors H559 to him, saying [H8800] H4428 , What have I to do with thee, thou king H3063 of Judah H3117 ? I come not against thee this day H1004 , but against the house H4421 wherewith I have war H430 : for God H559 commanded [H8804] H926 me to make haste [H8763] H2308 : forbear [H8798] H430 thee from meddling with God H7843 , who is with me, that he destroy [H8686] thee not.

22 H2977 Nevertheless Josiah H5437 would not turn [H8689] H6440 his face H2664 from him, but disguised [H8694] H3898 himself, that he might fight [H8736] H8085 with him, and hearkened [H8804] H1697 not unto the words H5224 of Necho H6310 from the mouth H430 of God H935 , and came [H8799] H3898 to fight [H8736] H1237 in the valley H4023 of Megiddo.

23 H3384 And the archers [H8802] H3384 shot [H8686] H4428 at king H2977 Josiah H4428 ; and the king H559 said [H8799] H5650 to his servants H5674 , Have me away [H8685] H3966 ; for I am sore H2470 wounded [H8717] .

24 H5650 His servants H5674 therefore took [H8686] H4818 him out of that chariot H7392 , and put [H8686] H4932 him in the second H7393 chariot H3212 that he had; and they brought [H8686] H3389 him to Jerusalem H4191 , and he died [H8799] H6912 , and was buried [H8735] H6913 in one of the sepulchres H1 of his fathers H3063 . And all Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H56 mourned [H8693] H2977 for Josiah.
