A certain man of Macedonia stood and besought him, saying: Come over to Macedonia and help us. ¹⁰ After he had seen the vision, we immediately endeavored to go into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. ¹¹ Therefore, setting sail from Troas, we came by a straight course to Samothracia, and, on the following day, to Neapolis, ¹² and thence to Philippi, which is the first city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony. We remained in that city some days: ¹³ and on the sabbath-day we went out of the city to the side of a river, where, as usual, was the house of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
