The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, as his inheritance.
They shall have no inheritance among their brothers: the LORD is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.
"When cattle or sheep are sacrificed, the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jaw, and the stomach.
You shall give him the first-fruit of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep.
For the LORD your God has chosen them and their descendants from among your tribes to stand and serve in the name of the LORD all their lives."
And if a Levite comes from one of your towns from anywhere in Israel where he is residing, he may come whenever he desires, to the place that the LORD will choose,
There he may serve in the name of the LORD his God. Like his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD,
They shall have equal portions to eat, besides that which comes of the sale of his family possessions.
"When you enter the land that the LORD your God is about to give you, don't learn the detestable practices of those nations there.
There must never be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or daughter in fire, practices divination, interprets omens, practices sorcery,
Or casts spells, or is a medium, or a wizard, or consults the dead.
For everyone doing these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable things the LORD your God is driving them out from before you.
You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
For these nations that you shall dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery and to diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.
"the LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. Listen to him!
»This is according to all that you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly. You said: Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God. Do not let me see this great fire anymore, or I will die.
"the LORD said to me: 'They have spoken well.
I will raise them up a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put My words in his mouth and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
But if someone will not listen to those words that the prophet speaks in my name, I will hold him accountable.
But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, that which I have not commanded him to speak, and who speaks in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
And if you say ⌊to yourself⌋, 'How can we know the word that Yahweh has not spoken to him?'
When a prophet speaks in the name of LORD, if the thing does not follow, nor come to pass, that is the thing which LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. Thou shall not be afraid of him.
