2 Samuel 19:31-40 And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim , and went over Jordan with the king , to conduct him over Jordan.

32 H1271 Now Barzillai H3966 was a very H2204 aged [H8804] H8084 man, even fourscore H8141 years H1121 old H4428 : and he had provided the king H3557 of sustenance [H8773] H7871 while he lay H4266 at Mahanaim H3966 ; for he was a very H1419 great H376 man.

33 H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799] H1271 unto Barzillai H5674 , Come thou over [H8798] H3557 with me, and I will feed [H8773] H3389 thee with me in Jerusalem.

34 H1271 And Barzillai H559 said [H8799] H4428 unto the king H3117 , How long H8141 have I to live H2416 H5927 , that I should go up [H8799] H4428 with the king H3389 unto Jerusalem?

35 H3117 I am this day H8084 fourscore H8141 years H1121 old H3045 : and can I discern [H8799] H2896 between good H7451 and evil H5650 ? can thy servant H2938 taste [H8799] H834 what H398 I eat [H8799] H834 or what H8354 I drink [H8799] H8085 ? can I hear [H8799] H6963 any more the voice H7891 of singing men [H8802] H7891 and singing women [H8802] H5650 ? wherefore then should thy servant H4853 be yet a burden H113 unto my lord H4428 the king?

36 H5650 Thy servant H5674 will go H4592 a little way H5674 over [H8799] H3383 Jordan H4428 with the king H4428 : and why should the king H1580 recompense [H8799] H1578 it me with such a reward?

37 H5650 Let thy servant H7725 , I pray thee, turn back again [H8799] H4191 , that I may die [H8799] H5892 in mine own city H6913 , and be buried by the grave H1 of my father H517 and of my mother H5650 . But behold thy servant H3643 Chimham H5674 ; let him go over [H8799] H113 with my lord H4428 the king H6213 ; and do [H8798] H2896 to him what shall seem good H5869 unto thee.

38 H4428 And the king H559 answered [H8799] H3643 , Chimham H5674 shall go [H8799] H6213 over with me, and I will do [H8799] H2896 to him that which shall seem good H5869 H977 unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require [H8799] H6213 of me, that will I do [H8799] for thee.

39 H5971 And all the people H5674 went over [H8799] H3383 Jordan H4428 . And when the king H5674 was come over [H8804] H4428 , the king H5401 kissed [H8799] H1271 Barzillai H1288 , and blessed [H8762] H7725 him; and he returned [H8799] H4725 unto his own place.

40 H4428 Then the king H5674 went on [H8799] H1537 to Gilgal H3643 , and Chimham H5674 went on [H8804] H5971 with him: and all the people H3063 of Judah H5674 conducted [H8689] [H8675] H5674 [H8686] H4428 the king H2677 , and also half H5971 the people H3478 of Israel.

But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee. ³⁸ And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee. ³⁹ And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place. ⁴⁰ Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.
