Philippians

RKJNT^{(i) 1} Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons: ² Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. ³ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, ⁴ Always, in every prayer of mine for you all, I make my requests with joy, ⁵ Because of your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; ⁶ Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ. ⁷ It is right for me to think this way of you all, because I have you in my heart; since both in my imprisonment, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you are all partakers with me of grace. ⁸ For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. ⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and in all discernment; ¹⁰ That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ; ¹¹ Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are from Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. ¹² But I would have you understand, brethren, that the things which happened to me have really served to advance the gospel; ¹³ So that my imprisonment in Christ has become known throughout the entire praetorian guard, and to all the others; ¹⁴ And many of the brethren, growing confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. ¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry; and some also from good will; ¹⁶ The later out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defence of the gospel: ¹⁷ The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my imprisonment ¹⁸ What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. ¹⁹ For I know that this shall turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, ²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, now as always, Christ shall be exalted in my body, whether by life, or by death. ²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But if I live in the flesh, that means fruitful labour for me: yet what I shall choose I do not know. ²³ For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: ²⁴ Nevertheless, to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. ²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith; ²⁶ That in me your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ, through my coming to you again. ²⁷ Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or am absent, I may hear of you, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; ²⁸ And in no way terrified by your adversaries: which is to them a sign of their destruction, but to you of your salvation, and that from God. ²⁹ For to you it is granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake; ³⁰ Having the same conflict which you saw to be mine, and now hear to be mine still.
