Luke 24:36-49

Goodspeed(i) 36 While they were still talking of these things, he himself stood among them. 37 They were startled and panic-stricken, and thought they saw a ghost. 38 But he said to them, "Why are you so disturbed, and why do doubts arise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and feet, for it is I myself! Feel of me and see, for a ghost has not flesh and bones, as you see I have." 40 OMITTED TEXT 41 But they could not yet believe it for sheer joy and they were amazed. And he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" 42 And they gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it before their eyes. 44 Then he said to them, "This is what I told you when I was still with you—that everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must come true." 45 Then he opened their minds to the understanding of the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, "The Scriptures said that Christ should suffer as he has done, and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and that repentance leading to the forgiveness of sins should be preached to all the heathen in his name. 48 You are to be witnesses to all this, beginning at Jerusalem. 49 And I will send down upon you what my Father has promised. Wait here in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."
