SHIMSHON AND THE LURKERS
Then Shimshon goes to Azzah and sees a woman whore and goes in to her. 2 And they say to the Azzahiy, Shimshon comes here. - and they surround the portal of the city all night and lurk for him and hush all night, saying, Until the morning light, and we slaughter him. 3 And Shimshon lies down until midnight and rises at midnight; and possesses the doors and the two posts of the portal of the city; and pulls them, bar and all, and sets them on his shoulders and ascends them to the top of a mountain at the face of Hebron. 4

And so be it, afterward, he loves a woman in the wadi of Soreq her name is Delilah. 5 And the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy ascend to her and say to her, Entice him; and see wherein his great force is and how to prevail against him - so as to bind him to humble him; and each man of us gives you eleven hundred silvers. 6 And Delilah says to Shimshon, Tell me, I beseech you, wherein your great force is and how to bind you to humble you. 7 And Shimshon says to her, If they bind me with seven fresh cords, never parched, then I become worn, and become as one human. 8 Then the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy ascend seven fresh cords to her which have not been parched; and she binds him with them. 9 And men lurk - settling in the chamber with her: and she says to him, The Peleshethiy on you, Shimshon! And lurkers settle in the chamber: and he tears them from his arms as a thread. 13 And Delilah says to Shimshon, Until now you mock me and word lies! Tell me how to bind you. And he says to her, If you weave the seven braids of my head with the web. 14 And she stakes them with the stake and says to him, The Peleshethiy on you, Shimshon! And he wakes from his sleep and pulls out the stake of the weaver and the web. 15 And she says to him, How say you, I love you, when your heart is not with me? You mock me these three times and tell me not wherein your great force is. 16 And so be it, when she oppresses him all days with her words and urges him, his soul shortens to die; 17 and he tells her all his heart and says to her, No razor ascends my head; for I am a Separatist to Elohim from the belly of my mother: if I become shaven, my force turns from me and I become worn and become as any one human. 18 And when Delilah sees that he tells her all his heart, she sends and calls the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy, saying, Ascend this one time, for he tells me all his heart. And the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy ascend to her and ascend silver in their hand: 19 and she has him sleep on her knees; and she calls for a man to shave the seven braids of his head; and she begins to abase him and his force turns from him. 20 And she says, The Peleshethiy on you, Shimshon! And he wakens from his sleep and says, I go out as time by time and shake myself. - and he knows not that Yah Veh turned from him. 21 And the Peleshethiy possess him and bore out his eyes; and bring him down to Azzah and bind him with fetters of copper; and he grinds in the house of binding: 22 and after he is shaven the hair of his head begins to sprout. 23
THE DEATH OF SHIMSHON
Then the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy gather together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their elohim and to cheer: for they say, Our elohim gives Shimshon our enemy into our hand. 24 And when the people see him, they halal their elohim: for they say, Into our hands our elohim delivers our enemy and the parcher of our land, who abounded our pierced. 25 And so be it, when their hearts are goodly, they say, Call for Shimshon to entertain us. - and they call for Shimshon from the house of binding; and he entertains them: and they stand him between the pillars. 26 And Shimshon says to the lad holding him by the hand, Allow me to touch the pillars whereupon the house is established - to lean on them. 27 And the house is full of men and women; and all the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy are there - and on the roof about three thousand men and women see while Shimshon entertains. 28 And Shimshon calls to Yah Veh, and says, O Adonay Yah Veh, remember me, I beseech you; strengthen me, I beseech you, only, this one time, O Elohim, to avenge the avengement of the Peleshethiy for my two eyes. 29 And Shimshon clasps the two middle pillars whereon the house is established and whereon it is propped - the one with his right and the one with his left. 30 And Shimshon says, O that my soul die with the Peleshethiy. - and he spreads himself with force; and the house falls on the ringleaders and on all the people therein. So the dead he deathified at his death are greater than those he deathified in his life. 31 And his brothers and all the house of his father descend and lift him and ascend him and entomb him between Sorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoach his father: and he judges Yisra El twenty years.
