Judges 15

ECB(i) 1
SHIMSHON AVENGES THE PELESHETHIY
And so be it, days later in the wheat harvest, Shimshon visits his woman with a doe goat; and he says, I go in to my woman into the chamber. - and her father allows him not to go in. 2 And her father says, In saying, I say; in hating, you hated her; and I gave her to your companion! Is not her younger sister better than she? Take her, I beseech you, in her stead. 3 And Shimshon says concerning them, This time I am exonerated more than the Peleshethiy though I work them evil. 4 And Shimshon goes and captures three hundred foxes; and takes flambeaus and faces them tail to tail; and sets one flambeau in the midst between two tails: 5 and he burns the flambeaus on fire and sends them away into the stalks of the Peleshethiy; and burns the heaps and the stalks with the vineyards and olives. 6 Then the Peleshethiy say, Who works this? And they say, Shimshon the son in law of the Timnahiy; because he took his woman and gave her to his companion. - and the Peleshethiy ascend and burn her and her father with fire. 7 And Shimshon says to them, Though you work this, yet I avenge you; and after that I cease. 8 - and he smites them leg to flank with a great stroke: and he descends and settles in the cleft of the rock Etam. 9 And the Peleshethiy ascend and encamp in Yah Hudah and spread themselves in Lechi. 10 And the men of Yah Hudah say, Why ascend you against us? And they say, We ascend to bind Shimshon - to work to him as he worked to us. 14 And when he comes to Lechi, the Peleshethiy shout meeting him: and the Spirit of Yah Veh prospers over him; and the ropes on his arms become as flax burnt with fire; and his bands melt off his hands: 15 and he finds a fresh jaw of a he burro and sends forth his hand and takes it and smites a thousand men therewith. 16 And Shimshon says, With the jaw of a he burro, heaps on heaps; with the jaw of a he burro I smite a thousand men. 17 - and so be it, he finishes wording, and casts the jaw from his hand and calls that place Ramah Lechi/Jaw Heights. 18 And he is mighty thirsty and calls on Yah Veh and says, You give this great salvation into the hand of your servant! And now, die I for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? 19 And Elohim split a socket in the jaw and water comes; and he drinks, and his spirit returns and he enlivens: so he calls the name thereof En Hak Qore/Fountain of the Caller: it is in Lechi to this day. 20 And he judges Yisra El in the days of the Peleshethiy twenty years.
