Luke 24:13-21

Williams(i) 13 On that very day, strange to say, two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and were talking together about all these things that had taken place. 15 And as they were talking, and discussing these things, Jesus Himself came up near to them and continued to walk with them, 16 but their eyes were in such a state as to keep them from recognizing Him. 17 Then He said to them, "What is this that you are discussing together as you walk?" So they stopped and stood still with puzzled countenances. 18 Finally one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered Him, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who has not heard of the things that have taken place there in these last days?" 19 And He said to them, "What sort of things?" They answered Him, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who in the sight of God and of all the people became a prophet mighty in deed and word, 20 and how the high priests and leading men turned Him over to be sentenced to death, and had Him crucified. 21 But we kept hoping that He was the One who was coming to set Israel free. Moreover, besides all this, it is now the third day since these things occurred.
