Luke 24:13-21

Anderson(i) 13 And, behold, two of them were going, on the same day, to a village called Emmaus, distant from Jerusalem sixty furlongs. 14 And they were talking to one another about all these things which had taken place. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they conversed and reasoned together, Jesus himself drew near, and went on with them. 16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not recognize him. 17 And he said to them: What matters are these which you are discussing with one another as you walk and are sad? 18 And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said to him: Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have not known the things that have taken place there in these days? 19 And he said to them: What things? They said to him: The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and in word before God and all the people; 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we trusted that it was he that was about to redeem Israel. And besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done.
