CLV(i)
1 Better one who is destitute who walks in his integrity Than one who is perverse with his lips, who also is stupid."
2 Indeed any soul without knowledge is not good, And he who rushes with his feet misses his goal."
3 A man's folly subverts his way, And his heart is irate against Yahweh."
4 Wealth adds many associates, Yet the poor man is parted from his associate."
5 A false witness shall not be held innocent, And he who breathes out lies shall not escape."
6 Many beseech a patron to his face, And everyone is the associate of a man with gifts."
7 All the brothers of a destitute man hate him; How much more do his associates keep far from him. He who pursues sayings finds they do not avail.
8 He who acquires heart understanding loves his soul; He who guards comprehension will find good.
9 A false witness shall not be held innocent, And he who breathes out lies shall perish."
10 Opulence is not comely for the stupid person; How much less for a servant to rule over chiefs.
11 It is intelligence for a man when he postpones his anger, And it is his beauty to pass over a transgression."
12 The ire of a king is like the growling of a sheltered lion, Yet his benevolence is like night mist on herbage."
13 A stupid son is woe to his father, And a quarrelsome wife like a persistent leaking."
14 A house and wealth are an allotment from fathers, Yet from Yahweh comes an intelligent wife."
15 Slothfulness casts one down into stupor, So that the soul of the indolent man shall famish."
16 He who observes instruction guards his soul; He who despises his ways shall die.
17 He who is gracious to a poor man obligates Yahweh, And He shall pay his requital to him."
18 Discipline your son while there is expectation, And let not your soul indulge in letting him die."
19 A man of great fury bears a fine, For if you try to reclaim him, You must do it again and again."
20 Hearken to counsel and receive admonition That you may be wise in your latter days.
21 Many are the designs in a man's heart, Yet the counsel of Yahweh, it shall stand firm."
22 The comeliness of a man is his kindness, And a destitute friend is better than a man of lies."
23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life; Then one shall lodge satisfied, no more being visited by evil."
24 The slothful man buries his hand into the dinner-bowl, Yet he does not bring it back to his mouth."
25 You smite a mocker, and a simple man shall become prudent; Reprove one of understanding, and he shall understand more knowledge."
26 He who devastates his father and drives away his mother Is a son causing shame and abashment.
27 My son, desist from hearing admonition That causes to err, away from the sayings of knowledge."
28 A worthless witness mocks at judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swallows down lawlessness."
29 Judgments are prepared for mockers And beatings for the body of the stupid.
