Jeremiah 42

  1 H8269 Then all the captains H2428 of the forces, H3110 and Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H3153 and Jezaniah H1121 the son H1955 of Hoshaiah, H5971 and all the people H6996 from the least H1419 even unto the greatest, H5066 came near,
  2 H559 and said H3414 unto Jeremiah H5030 the prophet, H8467 Let, we pray thee, our supplication H5307 be presented H6440 before H6419 thee, and pray H3068 for us unto Jehovah H430 thy God, H7611 even for all this remnant; H7604 for we are left H4592 but a few H7235 of many, H5869 as thine eyes H7200 do behold us:
  3 H3068 that Jehovah H430 thy God H5046 may show H1870 us the way H3212 wherein we should walk, H1697 and the thing H6213 that we should do.
  4 H3414 Then Jeremiah H5030 the prophet H559 said H8085 unto them, I have heard H6419 you; behold, I will pray H3068 unto Jehovah H430 your God H1697 according to your words; H1697 and it shall come to pass that whatsoever thing H3068 Jehovah H6030 shall answer H5046 you, I will declare H4513 it unto you; I will keep H1697 nothing H4513 back from you.
  5 H559 Then they said H3414 to Jeremiah, H3068 Jehovah H571 be a true H539 and faithful H5707 witness H6213 amongst us, if we do H1697 not according to all the word H3068 wherewith Jehovah H430 thy God H7971 shall send thee to us.
  6 H2896 Whether it be good, H7451 or whether it be evil, H8085 we will obey H6963 the voice H3068 of Jehovah H430 our God, H580 to whom we H7971 send H3190 thee; that it may be well H8085 with us, when we obey H6963 the voice H3068 of Jehovah H430 our God.
  7 H7093 And it came to pass after H6235 ten H3117 days, H1697 that the word H3068 of Jehovah H3414 came unto Jeremiah.
  8 H7121 Then called H3110 he Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H8269 and all the captains H2428 of the forces H5971 that were with him, and all the people H6996 from the least H1419 even to the greatest,
  9 H559 and said H559 unto them, Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H7971 unto whom ye sent H5307 me to present H8467 your supplication H6440 before him:
  10 H7725 If ye will still H3427 abide H776 in this land, H1129 then will I build H2040 you, and not pull you down, H5193 and I will plant H5428 you, and not pluck you up; H5162 for I repent H7451 me of the evil H6213 that I have done unto you.
  11 H3372 Be not afraid H6440 of H4428 the king H894 of Babylon, H6440 of whom H3373 ye are afraid; H3372 be not afraid H5002 of him, saith H3068 Jehovah: H3467 for I am with you to save H5337 you, and to deliver H3027 you from his hand.
  12 H5414 And I will grant H7356 you mercy, H7355 that he may have mercy H7725 upon you, and cause you to return H127 to your own land.
  13 H559 But if ye say, H3427 We will not dwell H776 in this land; H8085 so that ye obey H6963 not the voice H3068 of Jehovah H430 your God,
  14 H559 saying, H935 No; but we will go H776 into the land H4714 of Egypt, H7200 where we shall see H4421 no war, H8085 nor hear H6963 the sound H7782 of the trumpet, H7456 nor have hunger H3899 of bread; H3427 and there will we dwell:
  15 H8085 now therefore hear H1697 ye the word H3068 of Jehovah, H7611 O remnant H3063 of Judah: H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H7760 If ye indeed H7760 set H6440 your faces H935 to enter H4714 into Egypt, H935 and go H1481 to sojourn there;
  16 H2719 then it shall come to pass, that the sword, H3373 which ye fear, H5381 shall overtake H776 you there in the land H4714 of Egypt; H7458 and the famine, H1672 whereof ye are afraid, H1692 shall follow hard H310 after H4714 you there in Egypt; H4191 and there ye shall die.
  17 H582 So shall it be with all the men H7760 that set H6440 their faces H935 to go H4714 into Egypt H1481 to sojourn H4191 there: they shall die H2719 by the sword, H7458 by the famine, H1698 and by the pestilence; H8300 and none of them shall remain H6412 or escape H6440 from H7451 the evil H935 that I will bring upon them.
  18 H559 For thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel: H639 As mine anger H2534 and my wrath H5413 hath been poured forth H3427 upon the inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem, H2534 so shall my wrath H5413 be poured forth H935 upon you, when ye shall enter H4714 into Egypt; H423 and ye shall be an execration, H8047 and an astonishment, H7045 and a curse, H2781 and a reproach; H7200 and ye shall see H4725 this place no more.
  19 H3068 Jehovah H1696 hath spoken H7611 concerning you, O remnant H3063 of Judah, H935 Go H4714 ye not into Egypt: H3045 know H3045 certainly H5749 that I have testified H3117 unto you this day.
  20 H8582 For ye have dealt deceitfully H5315 against your own souls; H7971 for ye sent H3068 me unto Jehovah H430 your God, H559 saying, H6419 Pray H3068 for us unto Jehovah H430 our God; H3068 and according unto all that Jehovah H430 our God H559 shall say, H5046 so declare H6213 unto us, and we will do it:
  21 H3117 and I have this day H5046 declared H8085 it to you; but ye have not obeyed H6963 the voice H3068 of Jehovah H430 your God H7971 in anything for which he hath sent me unto you.
  22 H3045 Now therefore know H3045 certainly H4191 that ye shall die H2719 by the sword, H7458 by the famine, H1698 and by the pestilence, H4725 in the place H2654 whither ye desire H935 to go H1481 to sojourn there.
