ABU(i)
And immediately, while he was yet speaking, comes Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
And his betrayer had given them a signal, saying: Whom I shall kiss, that is he; lay hold of him, and lead him away securely.
And coming, he goes straightway to him, and says: Master, Master; and kissed him.
And they laid their hands on him, and held him fast.
And one of those standing by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and took off his ear.
And Jesus answering said to them: Came ye out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to take me?
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not lay hold of me; but that the Scriptures might be fulfilled!
And all forsook him, and fled.
And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men lay hold of him.
And leaving behind the linen cloth, he fled from them naked.
And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
And Peter followed him afar off, even into the court of the high priest, and was sitting with the officers, and warming himself at the fire.
And the chief priests and all the council sought for testimony against Jesus, in order to put him to death; and they found none.
For many bore false witness against him; but their testimonies agreed not together.
And certain ones rose up, and bore false witness against him, saying:
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.
And not even so did their testimony agree.
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying: Answerest thou nothing? What do these witness against thee?
But he was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him: Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
And Jesus said: I am; and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
And the high priest, rending his clothes, says: What further need have we of witnesses?
Ye heard the blasphemy. What think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face and buffet him, and say to him: Prophesy. And the officers, with blows, took him in charge.
