Romans 4:1-8

Living_Oracles(i) 1 What do we then say that Abraham our father obtained by the flesh? 2 for if Abraham were justified by works, he might boast; but not before God. 3 For what says the scripture? "And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness." 4 Now, to him who works, the reward is not counted as a favor, but as a debt. 5 But to him who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 In like manner, also, David describes the blessedness of the man to whom God counts righteousness without works: saying, 7 "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not count sin."
