Deuteronomy 1:15-17 ואקח So I took את ראשׁי the chief שׁבטיכם of your tribes, אנשׁים men, חכמים wise וידעים and known, ואתן and made אותם ראשׁים them heads עליכם over שׂרי you, captains אלפים over thousands, ושׂרי and captains מאות over hundreds, ושׂרי and captains חמשׁים over fifties, ושׂרי and captains עשׂרת over tens, ושׁטרים and officers לשׁבטיכם׃ among your tribes.
